    • That isn't a valid reason for the neg…

$500 delivered from a company that many have had issues with

Unique mobiles have this deal every 2nd week just about.

On top of that, Nexus 4 for $399.

        • +3

          There you go.
If you had've posted that in the first place, it would've been fine.
          Not that hard, was it?

          it was obvious

          it was obvious

Highly subjective. Objectively, it was ambiguous and not at all helpful.

i understood exactly wat his first post inferred

That's all very well and good for you, but you need to state the reasons for your neg. Some may not know of SS's reputation, you know.
You can't just leave everything up to implications, otherwise the voting system would hardly be constructive.

        • you must be new here then, because SS have been posting one of these scams several times a week and every single post is littered with comments relating to their dodgy shipping

and "The title shows everything - it certainly does"
lets use some common sense. What does the title show? the fact that shipping is $38.95 compared to $19 from kogan or less from Uniquemobiles and the fact that the kogan deal has been a top deal on the side bar for a week with a LOWER sale and shipping price.

So one look at the numbers in the title and you can tell its a non deal

detailed enough for the lazy and uninitiated?

        • Ha, no I'm not new here, and clicking on my username would show that… from the one calling others lazy and uninitiated.

SS have been posting one of these scams several times a week

The SS rep 'DaniloChan' has posted none of the recent GS3 deals, so ShoppingSquare hasn't been posting these so-called 'scams'.

lets use some common sense. What does the title show? the fact that shipping is $38.95 compared to $19 from kogan or less from Uniquemobiles and the fact that the kogan deal has been a top deal on the side bar for a week with a LOWER sale and shipping price.

No, this is all the title shows:

          Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 SIII Blue 16GB Unlocked - DS @ ShoppingSquare $458.95 + $38.95 Shipping

The title does not make comparisons between other retailers, their shipping costs and their reliability, as you just did. That is for the person making the neg to describe in their comment - which 'The Quote Train' did not. I, nor any other reader, should not have to run around researching on why this person could possibly have negged, when they have to post their reasons anyway - it would be stupid and a waste of time for all involved.

My comment above still stands, whether you like it or not, you must state the reasons for your neg, otherwise the whole thing is pointless. You and I know that ShoppingSqaure has a bad reputation, but others might not.
          I'll just leave this here:

We appeal to all members to think about a negative vote and apply these fundamental tests to them first. While you’re more than welcome to express your personal opinion against a deal, this alone should not be used as a reason to vote negative.
Is your negative vote really indicating that something is wrong with the deal or the seller. For example these products are prone to failure based on your information- if so then also put your source and where others can verify this. If you cant verify your source, then make the comment but skip the negative vote.

With the release of the Nexus 4 @ $399 the discounting of other phones begins.

Honestly, the price of the S3 is going to have to fall to below this price, in general, if it's not to get massively beaten up in the market. As such its probably worth waiting a while if you can and see what eventuates.

I would not be surprised to see <$400 from a good reseller within the month.

Worst seller, i purchased stuff from that never received. Now waiting for refund since last couple of months.
Case logged with NSW Fare Trade and now will be proceeding to CTTT.

My recommendation, dont buy from them, buy from some good seller even if that is a bit exp..

Just reading about some bad experiences with these guys on the ozbargain forums (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82629)
Can mods disable accounts related to the likes of these guys and fishpond, mwave etc ?

    • +4

Of course they can be banned, but…

ShoppingSquare haven't actually done anything wrong, according to the rules of this site. Sure, they have a bad reputation around here, but they haven't done anything here to warrant their banning.

On another point: anecdotal evidence doesn't always provide a clear view of the business; negative feedback is always the most vocal. The bad experiences you're reading might only be 1 in 1000.

Not saying I would trust them myself, but I'm just saying that they shouldn't be banned based on a bad reputation.

No business would have a clean rep - no matter how hard they tried. The store rep here is actually quite helpful, despite the terrible customer service experienced elsewhere.
That said, I'm not defending them, as some obviously think I am. It's the prerogative of the mods to decide if they stay.

Not sure why this has been neg? PD's post was fair and unbiased. Maybe a reread is needed by those that negged?

      • Thanks for your input ProspectiveDarkness, you make some valid points.

    • I'll just add, I bought a $2000 PC from Mwave, and have bought a few DVDs etc from Fishpond. My experience with both has been nothing but positive. Might just be me though

    • The rep here for Ozbargain, Danilochan messaged me on Ozbargain and helped me get my S3 quickly and Aussie version at that. I did have bad experience with S2 but the S3 experience so far has helped erase my memory of the S2 experience.
Unfortunately, though, the experience with other Customer Support personnel on Shopping Square is less than satisfactory.

  • From personal bad experience with SQ, I ordered the S3 early Sept, didn't arrive until 3.5 weeks later. I personally will not deal with SQ ever again for their shipping is way too slow, even with DHL. Emailing them and you will get the same response each time. It appears that they just cut and paste the response over and over again. Seems like they hang on to your money for a while and decide to send the goods whenever they feel like it. I rather pay more to avoid the frustration. it's worth it.
