Creative Live! Cam Sync 1080p V2 Webcam $34.95 Delivered @ Creative Australia

150

A pretty good webcam that I use daily, though reviews seem to be mixed. Plug-and-play (USB A) with a mounting clip for desktop monitors or laptops. Has auto mute and noise cancellation features (requires installing the Creative App).

Shipping appears to be free despite their delivery page stating that free shipping is only available for orders $59 and above.

BEFORE YOU BUY: Worth noting that they charge an overseas/international transaction fee, which you can circumvent by paying with PayPal. They also charge AUD $20 for authorized returns (or 5% of the order total, whichever that is higher).

Edit 04 March: Just noticed that the price has dropped even further from $39.95 to $34.95.

  • Is there a hardware white balance setting?

    • You mean like a physical dial/button on the webcam? Nope.

There is an option to control the white balance through their Creative App, which I believe is only available for Windows.

      • Anything that sets the white balance manually on the camera.

Some cams have options in Windows settings to manually set the profile.

My current cam only does auto WB so if there's a lot of green in the frame it adjusts the image to make your face look red, and the meeting apps I use don't have software WB settings to correct it.

        • +1

There is an auto option on the Creative App and a draggable slider if you want to adjust it manually.

        • I correct that in OBS.

          • @MasterScythe: Meeting app couldn't see the virtual camera or something, no dice.

            • @lychnis: Webex, teams, zoom, and skype are all happy with it. Thats most peoples use cases id imagine.

              • @MasterScythe: Not sure what the problem is then tbh, maybe something particular about my setup. I use it for telehealth a fair bit and that's all browser based.

Just running Win11, OBS 30.0.0. Might have been an earlier release last time I tried.

  • Its cheap, but quality is not good.

  • +4

Quality on this is pretty darn good.

    Had one a few years.

Its very sharp, works without frame drop in nearly dark rooms, audio is clear.

The only downside, and its not subtle, is grain. Pulling all that detail has it always in high iso mode.

  • I had this for a long time and the quality is awesome!

  • Purchased last month from Amazon at $40.95
    Quality is good.
Also the privacy lens cover is thoughtful

  • Great camera for adding on to a 3D printer with OctoPrint/Klipper.

The clip even mounts nicely on the control panel of the Ender-3 V3 SE (and likely KE) for those who got on the Jaycar deal.

  • How better than standard Dell laptop cameras? How worse than a Logitech C922?

    • +1

      Logitech C922 is better

      • It is double the price

        • Yes. Price is about right for what you get.

    • Ooh now that is something to look forward to!

      • +1

already available to windows beta users

    • Can already do freely with Camo and get superb results. Camo App even supports out-of-support Apple iPhones, however, there's a certain convenience in having a webcam always available above the monitor.

  • Bought one. I've been using my phone as a wireless webcam but it chews through the battery.

  • Does this webcam come with a mic?

    • Built-in mic, yes.
