Shame it doesn't have the 5 movies with it .

    • no it's a shame they got screwed in the last couple of seasons

      great show though

  • thanks OP, picked up a copy!

Some of the best long term plot development in scifi

    Great Maker!

I cant wait for the new series to come out! … :)

    BEST SHOW EVER!

    • It came out a couple of months ago - and it was more of a movie. The Road Home.

      • +1

The animated project is separate to the reboot project according to JMS on the platform formerly known as twitter dot com.

Anyone who hasn't seen this series deserves to die on Z'ha'dumn.

  • I've watched every single Star trek show now apart from Deep space 9… is Babylon 5 worth checking out :) I enjoyed the others. Without the over the top CGI they have these days they used to need to create really well told sifi stories back in those days. :).. Star-gate SG1 and Atlantis were so good.

Doesn't look like its on any steaming service :) All the others are on Prime video and netflix

B5 is definitely worth it .. there's rumours the tv networks stole the idea of B5 to do DS9 … just so happened there are so many coincidences …

but like with B5 .. it's a continuous series .. so you can't just jump from one episode to another and just hope to be able to follow along

there's actually recommended viewing orders as well .. so do a quick google … but like it says to watch one of the movies first .. then start with some of the series etc

yes it's a bit dated .. but for it's time and budget .. it's fricken awesome

Don't sleep on DS9. If you can get through the first season, it really picks up.
B5 is phenomenal. Some great actors, really fleshed out races and long story arcs.

Get on DS9 — it’s a great series and really picks up by Season 3.

Yah, when Siskos hair moves from his head to his face…

Plot twist: he was a shapeshifter.

We just went through (for the first time ever) the entire Star Trek series, then did Babylon 5. LOVED it! Babylon 5 has its own unique feel. Some episodes can be hit-or-miss the same as Trek (but those are rare anyway). But honestly was a great watch going in blind. Probably one of the best series I've ever watched. The building of the plot is phenomenal! I actually can't wait for a rewatch
Would also recommend googling the viewing order. It slots in the movies too, which are great for context.

The spin-off series Crusade wasn't great, but Galen the Techno-mage was fun to watch.

        • +2

Galen was absolutely the best part of it, he was my fav character.

    • Uh… If you liked B5, you absolutely need to check out DS9 :)

    • Wow to be able to experience DS9 for the first time, you're in for a treat. It's a slow start but by season 3, it takes off, season 4-6 are incredible.

Thanks OP! Ordered. I’m a true fan of Babylon 5. It is part of my soul. Will place the box in the center of my blu-ray collection :)

  • +5

B5 is still unmatched in character development, coherent arcs and satisfying conclusions and epic feel IMO. Way under appreciated and many modern shows fail to grasp simple concepts that it mastered, like planning where the show is going before being 3 seasons in lol.

and no other show has Zathras.

      • +5

        or Zathras

        • +3

Oh no, no, no, no, no - Zathras

  • This was one of my favorite shows back in the day. Might have to revisit it again and see how it holds up. I distinctly remember the Vorlons.

  • +1

My absolute favourite sci-fi TV show. If you don't have it, it's a good buy.
However…I bought it on VHS, then I bought it on DVD. Now they've wanted me to buy it streaming and now on bluray. No. I've bought it twice. Enough.

  • Wondering if this is the same as the remaster on iTunes? All the video is in 4:3 ratio so the CGI matches the rest of the video.

    • Yep, the Blu-ray uses the remastered 4:3 footage. Very much worth buying for fans who don't already own it, or really need the higher resolution.

      • Ok this is what I came to read, I was researching the show and 4:3 vs 16:9 (cropped 4:3?) and cropped is usually not liked, so, this boxset is consistent 4:3 - and that's desirable?

        • +1

Yup, for this series all the CGI was rendered in a 4:3 aspect ratio. so this will be the best version to watch since the original framing of the CGI is here and not cropped or zoomed in for the DVD releases. so this is probably the best of both worlds until someone gets all the original models and textures and animation projects and renders it themselves.
