Porting Aldi-->Boost. I ported too fast...

I did the usual Boost —-> Aldi —->Boost trick yesterday to get a better deal offered to 'new' customers ($169.10 Officeworks - LuckyMobile pricematch -5%).

I did the Aldi —> Boost part too quickly, as soon as I saw Aldi in the signal bar area I commenced the port back to Boost.

Unfortunately the Aldi part wasn't fully completed on their end and the port back to Boost was rejected. I was told to contact Boost over the phone which I did and they told me I would have to wait 24-48 hours for them to process the cancellation on their end and that I would receive an email once this was completed. I rang again this morning to see if I could speed the process up and no deal, the phone jockey said "it's only been 17 hours, blah blah" and there was nothing they could do.

Has ths happened to anyone? I'd love to get this resolved before the weekend.

Edit- Has anyone had this resolved via online chat, or has anyone just tried again the next day and been successful?

It's ok it happens. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Next time you can just try some breathing techniques, or try and think of something else when you feel like you're about to port.

I dunno if the breathing techniques involve the OP holding their breath.

If the OP is turning blue, is that usual?

    Porting Aldi—>Boost. I ported too fast…

    Too much 4G play?

    • Theres places that can help you with that these days…

    • *polite golf clap *

    • If your antenna stays erect for more than 4 hours, see a phonesician

    • Or cricketers arms port.

      Thanks for asking. Cheers.

Mate. Instead of being a clown, perhaps be an adult and think. Would these randoms on the internet forum from all walks of life know when your issue with be resolved?

Today, @Tony76 fked around and found out. LOL

Found out what exactly? That these forums of full of useless 'jokes' supplied by fools? I can see you all think you're extremely clever, being comedians on the internet. All the while your government takes away your standard of living, making the country unaffordable and every person locked into modern slavery. And you're all oblivious to it happening. You're far too busy being idiots in forums. Well, you make your bed, you sleep in it. Have fun now!

          Is that you SlavOz?

You already have the answer, wait a day or so. What more were you expecting?

    • +2

      Are there adults around?

Maybe the adults know how to port properly?

    • OZB forums do have some flavour, I'll give you that.

  • +8

Not sure what kind of comments you expected. You rang the service provider & they told you to wait.

The only advice I can offer for next time is - comments in old posts suggest there are less issues if you port to a different network.

How many hours has it been now? Do you have an alarm set so you can call them at exactly the 24 hour mark?

  • Last time when I went from Tangerine to Boost, somehow the port got messed up along the way and my number was active on both sims. Both sims were receiving certain calls and texts and it seemed random as to which was which so I had to carry both phones around. Boost took about a week to resolve it, not sure what they did. But it was a week of both of them pointing the finger at each other

All good now, I got the cancellation email from Boost just now and was able to activate successfully.

2 lessons learned - don't be too hasty when porting out, and don't ask here for advice!

    • +1

      don't ask here for advice!

Nope, the lesson here is don’t ask stupid questions.

      • It's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by Ozbargainers.

    • All the best advice you where going to get would be wait.
Don't try and push further up the busted port queue as you may find yourself removed from your existing spot and moved down the list. So no using live chat no more calling until the time frame given had elapsed so 48 hours. Only then do you call/contact again.

The "busted port department" handles exactly what your issue was a busted port. Live chat and calling can't fix it. Next time do not bother trying acting like "why isn't it fixed after 17 hours?" Or complain after a few hours "that they aren't helping."
They are helping but there is a queue and no you can't jump up the queue because "you want data for the weekend." It's order of when the port attempt happened and failed. Could be 10s of people or 1000's in the queue at any given time.
