These are seriously fast and good. I store it in my wallet pocket as they are Tiny.

Don't use the key ring loop. I now have a cap but no USB.

      • +6

Thats for attaching a string to tether cap to usb, not keyring. You want this next time. Push string loop through cap hole, then yank girth hitch knot to usb, cap can still come off but stuck on string, both secure, then key ring to other end. Probably find same or better tether on ali for cheaper, that ring looks weak.

        • They break too easily, I've lost some USB and random stuff back in the days ( dependent on your movements )

      • +1

Nice. I've still got the USB but no cover lol.

  • +7

These are bang on top tier USBs, so fast and very small and compact

    I have three of them

    • +16

Can I have one of yours?

      • +5

        Username checks out.

so fast and very small and compact

      Ah yes, my secks life

  • +1

Just when I'm running out of storage on my 128gb Pixel.. thanks!

    • What ya putting on it ?

      Google drive not big enough?

    • +1

I have this same memory stick and a Pixel phone. In order to plug it in, you have to remove the case! What a stupid design Samsung 🤦🏻

      • A short male - female USB C cable is a handy accessory to keep with the flash drive.

        • if only Samsung designed it properly, it would fit both phones and laptops. cables are too easy to lose.

  • +1

I still use my tiny Sandisc ultra fit usb thumb drive with a USB-A to USB-C adapter. I’m sure it is slower than this product but it is still very fast for me when I’m loading media onto my iPhone 15 Max.

  • Waterproof? Wow.

    • +12

And fits right in your prison pocket!

      • Dont think prison uniforms have pockets, but depending on how much one can stretch….it can fit in other holes :D

        • +32

Someone doesn't know what a prison pocket is but then figures it out without connecting the dots…

        • +1

You're almost there! (also said while attempting to extract said device from said pocket)

  • +2

wonder what the long term life of these are since they're in such a small enclosure with no heat dissipation

  • What would you use these for? With streaming and cloud based storage I'm struggling to think of an application.

    • +1

I will be using it for copying videos and photos from my phone straight to my computer for editing.

Can also use it as a drive for Ventoy, so you can have a bunch of operating systems available to boot up at all times for reasons.

256 GB is a lot of linux distros.

I probably wouldn't recommend using one full time if you're using the USB as the file system though - I think I killed one of these after a few months of viscious writes and rewrites, but that was a weird and extreme case that hopefully no one repeats in the history of the world.

3-2-1 rule. Never trust a singular solution for anything you care about (photos, legal docs, etc)

      • Wouldn't it be 2 solutions if you got the USB and your phone

    • I might grab one so i can plug it straight into my meta quest 3 and play movies off it. You can do that now so this should be great for that.

      • Do u need an app in mq3 to watch from the usb drive? If so, what do u recommend?

        • Yeah I don’t think it can do it natively. But skybox is my pick for a media player. Best on the quest in my opinion.

    • PS5 external storage?

  • +1

    Bought one. Thanks

    Thanks OP

There are very good. But I kept mine attached to the key ring and the key ring was in my pocket and the hook broke. So keep this in mind and don't put pressure if you use the key ring hook.

  • Damn was looking for 256gb storage for my tv, ended up getting a fanxiang 512gb ssd for $48 on eBay… Before this deal was posted obv.

    Funny story

Had to return a USB drive once because it smelt like ass

  • +1

    Cheers OP!

  • +1

    Thanks Op. bought one.

"You last purchased this item on 29 Aug, 2023" .. still unopened. I guess I should skip this deal.

  • +4

    Thanks for sharing. OP

Interestingly, this post at $35.14 received more upvotes than last deal with better price for $27.56.

    • Patience, let's wait for a better deal !! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/821944

      • I missed that one by 2 days but I’ve been watching for it since and it hasn’t happened again, considering the averages from 3 camel, I don’t think it will get there again until perhaps a newer version is released

  • +1

    Thanks OP. Bought one too.

  • +1

Got one as well. Cheers OP

  • Has anybody tried using this with a USB A adapter so it can be plugged in to older devices?

    • I haven't specifically with this drive, but why would it not work? All of the other drives I've ever tried do this with no issue

      • Could be for a variety of reasons like power draw etc.
This USB drive seems solid but I want to confirm if somebody has successfully used it on USB A ports before I buy.

    • I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work.. However some adaptors may only be USB2.0 and not 3.2 etc.

    • +2

I bought this drive and also this adapter:

      https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B079K773M7

It has a little bungie cord on it so you can tie it to the Type-C drive.
Just keep it plugged into the adapter and unplug it whenever you want to connect to a type-c device)

The adapter was next day delivery but the drive in the deal still waiting for delivery as it's an international order.

      • +1

Drive arrived yesterday and I have connected the adapter to it with the bungie, works great on USB-C and USB-A now. The adapter is a lot bigger than the USB drive, I'm surprised how physically small the drive is. I transferred a 20gb system image into it and have deployed it to 10 laptops today, the drive didn't even feel warm to the touch.

Speed is okay for a drive this small, might have to benchmark it to see how it compares to my Kingston portable SSD as they both deployed that laptop image at roughly the same time taken per machine.

  • can u use this with iphone 15 pro transfer photos to it?

    • +2

      Yes.

You can also record ProRes video directly to the drive - "the external storage drive you connect to your iPhone for ProRes recording must support speeds of at least 220 MB per second and not draw more than 4.5 watts of power".

The specs of this match that requirement, though it might heat up too quickly and then drop write speeds for sustained video.

It should be formatted to exFat or even apparently HFS+ formatted drives should work too.

    Snaffled 2 - Thanks OP - 48% claimed :)

  • +1

    TY got 1

  • +1

    Thanks OP. Bought 2

  • Received (256Gb version) and working nicely to back-up and transfer files between multiple devices. Happy!

  • +4

Price reduced to $33.24 (5% off). Just purchased 3.

  • +2

Mine arrived yesterday, working nicely. Very happy so far.
Edit: Seriously thinking about buying more.

  • +1

Stop tempting me guys! Makes me glad I got the 1tb iPhone 15 Max. Using that to offline store a lot of my media (along with my Plex server for online) to make my upcoming 5 week holiday a lot more bearable. :-)

  • back again even lower - $33.24

  • Received. It looks so tiny, or am I getting too old 😭

    • +1

Quite possibly both. I'm oldish AND it is tiny.
