Saw this @ Caneland Mackay BigW… Online still shows full price. Not sure if this is storewide, so YMMV.

I'm looking for a no plastics Kettle internally.

    • Not easy but There out there

    • Bought one might have been either woolies or kmart. It was all stainless steel. Sure the bottom is still plastic and so is the charging base. But the kettle itself is stainless steel.

      • stirling? is the brand?

          • @xoom: so the bottom is plastic? what is the bottom? as long as the water when boiling doesn't interact with the plastic.., that'll be okay

            • @ilove: The inside is all stainless steel. The bottom part outside of the stainless steel is plastic. As is the handle but where the water is held is all stanless steel.

There is a plastic strainer at spout of this. You can leave it there or remove it. The lid is also plastic.

              • @xoom: so boiling would the plastic touch the water or not?

                • @ilove: I reread and I guess not. will get then.

                • +1

@ilove: Only the steam escaping the kettle will touch the plastic lid and strainer in the spout.

    • sunbeam glass one is metal/glass combo inside some plastic trim on the outside

    • Vera by Bugatti is stainless steel, with just a bit of plastic around the display on the handle.

Why would you buy a kettle when you can just boil water in a pot on the stove for free?

    • +4

I have an electric stove. So boiling on either is not free.

Plus water boils faster in a kettle.

      • It's still cheaper because you don't have to buy the kettle…

And if water boils faster in a kettle, do you use the kettle when cooking, instead of boiling water in a pot? I'm guessing not.

When you are cooking is different.

My old man still uses the kettle if he wants to add more water to what he is cooking.

          • @xoom: Why is it different when cooking?

            • @Mondorock: Because sometimes you want the food you are cooking to come up to a boil.

However when the thing you are cooking you may want to add hot water already if its drying up.

      Because we aren’t American.

  • Westinghouse. Haven't heard of them for years.
