Infinity 16" 240Hz WQXGA Gaming Laptop i9-13900HX 16GB 1TB RTX 4090 W11 $3999 + Postage ($0 SYD C&C/ mVIP) @ Mwave

120

Saw this laptop on Mwave, thought it was half decent price for a 4090 laptop.
Guessing they're discounted to make way for the 14th Gen Intel .

Not as cheap as the Omen 17" RTX 4090 but it is in a 16" form factor which some may prefer.
You may also want to factor in the cost of a 16GB DDR5 SODIMM since includes just a single 16GB stick.

My understanding is that it's a rebadged XMG Neo 16 which is reviewed by Jarrod's Tech here

That is a crazy discount. There's not much of a difference between the 14th and 13th gen anyway. If anyone cares, this laptop has a LCD screen. Is storage and RAM upgradable.

    I just paid this much for a 4080 super it's build… With a 14700k… Is that dumb?

The 4090 laptop is not the same as the 4090 desktop. Your desktop will outperform this laptop.

Well the desktop is a 4080…

        • It will still be way better(~42% better) than laptop 4090 because greater power budget and cooling, plus you can always upgrade your gpu, so in a nutshell, the 4080 super is fine :)

Much better quality than the Omen. Unlike the Omen which usually has 13700HX - the i9 is properly tunable including undervolt, and able to use 5600MHz RAM and XMP. There's also not "not much" difference between 13th and 14th gen … there's none… they're the exact same silicon same steppings, just a bit overclocked.
Re 'rebadging'. Both this and XMG (and Aftershock, Eluktronics, and many others) rebadge use the same whitebook Tongfang chassis so there's a bigger user base than it appears.
The water cooler (also made by Tongfang and rebadged by each brand) is a big advantage over everything else on the market if you like high performance AND quiet fans (mwave looks like they have the V2 box on discount as well for 199).
This is the kinda price the 4080M model has been most of last year, basically a free GPU upgrade to 4090M (aka. underclocked desktop 4070Ti)

    • The omen also has the i9-13900HX (some of the older deals had the i7)

Link to the watercooling box? The search functionality is horrendous on mwave's site.

      4090M (aka. underclocked desktop 4070Ti)

      Isn't the 4090 laptop more like a power/thermal limited desktop 4080 (both AD103 silicon)?

This is the exact same price I paid my parents paid for my Pentium 133 MMX laptop in 1997 :)

    (why did someone downvote this?)

Crazy how cheap yet expensive technology has become today compared to 20 or even 30 years ago.

    • Cause a Pentium 133 in 1997 at that price is a ripoff, it was already close to 2 years old.

Which means they must of bought it from harvey norman.

      • Ackchyually Pentium with MMX came out in late October 1996, however if we adjusted those old prices for inflation the amount would be much higher now.

        • Correct. Wikipedia says the 133 MMX mobile chip was released in May 1997.

      • No we bought it through my school, in December 97.
