Please list shipping in title so we can determine the worthiness of this deal.

I'm giving your post 3.5 stars.

  • -2

I'd say it's just a general decline in price. Not a deal per se.

  • +1

404 error on the mobile site, does this deal exist?

    • link works fine on Desktop Firefox v7.

  • +3

As I said because of Nexus 4, this will drop fast.

    • -3

and the future Samsung High End phones' RRP will be around $400 top too because of future Nexus phones unless people are very brand loyal to Samsung.

      • +3

I'm all for the nexus line, but that's not happening.

      • +1

I think they've created a brand similar to the iPhone with the Galaxy label, new phones will not release at Nexus' special low price.

        • +4

I'd say the Galaxy brand is becoming too diluted, Mini, s3, nexus, note 2, and maybe the premier? plus some more low mid range phones. Galaxy needs to be only s3 and note and a better mini if it wants to be a premium brand.

      • -1

you guys just wait and see. same android os slightly different specs with strong brand power but $200-300 difference in rrp. which one you pick? i pick nexus 4 any day. Whoever controls the OS can make the hardware coys dance. Google is no evil, think twice.

        • +1

The Samsung phones are a level above the Nexus phones in terms of hardware specification/performance, etc.

Also, with phones such as the Note, Note 2 - it has an S-Pen - something no Nexus does.

The Nexus is basically a cheap phone. The top end Samsung phones are not.

        • +1

Narh, look at the specs of Nexus 4 below. Nexus 4 has better specs than S3 (other than LTE). And it only costs $349AUD!!! I'm sure S3's price will drop to match that in a month. The reason old nexus phones are like cheap phones is because the OEM company is also making their own version of flagship phones so why should they care about Google more?
          http://www.cnet.com.au/samsung-galaxy-s3-vs-google-nexus-4-3…

        • -1

btw, Nexus 5 by HTC may also come in the near future.

        • There's much more to a phone than specs.

If youve read reviews people have critiqued the battery, washed out screen and design (2 pieces of glass)

Plus not including things like no sd slot or removable battery is a deal breaker for a few. You can also get a LTE S3 which has 2gb of ram which is a bit more comparable.

Im getting the Nexus myself, but I can see why someone would get a S3. Theres nothing wrong with it and it has plenty of good features the N4 doesnt have.

  • link works fine. and perhaps reduction in price because of the new Galaxy Premier to be released?

    http://www.cybershack.com/news/samsung-confirms-galaxy-premi…

    • +2

I believe the main reason for the price drop is because of the 4G version of galaxy III :)

  • +2

I suppose I should get used to it. I bought this from them for $478 just a little more than a week ago. Doh..

    • Me too… And I had waited so long for a sub 400 price :(

    • +2

maybe you could ask for partial refund (the difference) from them? i got myself a store credit from them for my nexus 7 tab without any problem.

      • Will do!

    • Just relax and get used to it. All technology (sans APPLE) gets reduced after launch. I got this phone for $675 from Dick Smith closer to when it was released and I thought that was a deal :)

  • To all network expert, I have a question :)

I want to buy this S3 or Nexus 4 to be used in Aus and overseas, the network on :
    Samsung Galaxy 3 is
    2G Network
    GSM 850/900/1800/1900
    3G Network
    UMTS 850/900/1900/2100

    Nexus 4 is
    GSM/EDGE/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
    3G (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
    HSPA+ 42

The network that I have in overseas is
    GSM Dual Band (900 & 1800)
    3G (1800)

Both phones don't support 1800 frequency, the question is: Will I still be able to get 3G data network or HSPA? or I end up only getting GPRS?

    Thanks!!

    • If your network overseas is 1800 and both these phones don't support it, then answer is obvious.

    • 1800 is AUS 4G frequency being used by both Telstra and Optus. If your overseas country uses 1800 for their 3G network, you need to buy the 4G version of the S3 (or any other 4G phone on the AUS market) for it to work in AUS and your country.

      • 4G is not the same as 3G.

I think there is some confusion here.

1800 frequency what? 3G/WCDMA? CDMA? GPRS? LTE? They are all incompatible with each other.

  • Would anyone know how long it take for delivery? Will they be able to deliver before Thurday?

    • Based on the experience i had when i got Motorola razr from them, no you wouldn't get it that quick, a week if your lucky but i think a bit longer than that.

    • Good luck. Been 5 business for my Note 2 and received an email it may be another 5 business days

  • I am now guessing this price will be very close to Nexus 4 + wireless charging dock…..

  • +5

Anyone looking to buy this without much droid knowledge. Buy a nexus 4 instead on Nov 13. $399 for better specs and updated by Google. I would buy the nexus 4 over the S3 any day.

    • -2

You do know that the highest memory for Nexus 4 is only 16 GB and it does support external memory cards.

      • +5

        does NOT*

      • Far out… In my mind I thought I wrote does NOT. Thanks for correcting me mustkill*

  • someone was saying kogans were locked, came with a unlock code but wasnt working.

Tried searching for it but couldnt find the post. I think it was in the forums somewhere

Based on all the comments on whirlpool, you'll probably get a broken seal item from Kogan, as Kogan seems to sell returned stock:
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2000635

My guess is Kogan buys their stock cheap from other stores that want to get rid of their returned phones.

    • This is being sold as new. If that is the case, ask for your money back or a new, sealed item. I bought my current phone from Kogan - received what appeared to be sealed, new, and French.

    Do a deal on the S3 4G!

    • $549 from Unique Mobiles I'd the price point.

  • To more of the experts out there, I'm keen on getting a note 2, but the question is, 3G or 4G? I'm not on any 4G plans at the moment, and I'm not sure if I really need it (so.. super noob statement, but.. basically it's just faster downloads, yeh? or is it also better reception at all?) Is 'early-adopting' myself better for future-proofing, or should I stick with just the 3G one for now, until 4G becomes more mainstream?

What's the price difference now anyway, something like $600+ for just the 3G as opposed to $780ish for the 4G? So $180 more? Is it worth it?

    • If you are questioning it, you don't need it…

    • I think you have it pretty much right. No huge advantage of 4g unless you need the speeds and regularly in a 4g area. For what you can save now I would stick with 3G. In 12 or so months upgrade to a 4g

    • I will get the it when 4G become mainstream along with Galaxy note 5.

    • +1

Also don't forget about the 2gb of ram in the 4g one! if you need improved performance will help with that extra 1gb of ram as for 4g well that depends if you are going to use it or not and update wise most likely 4g handsets will be supported longer in android updates than the 3g version of the s3

      • Ohhhh I did not know about the extra gb of Ram in the 4G version! That makes it a little more tempting, but I suppose you can look at it as spending an extra 100+ on just ram! :P Anyone already with a 3G Note 2 that can say they would prefer more ram? Or is it zippy enough as it is?

        • +2

Note 2 default has 2GB RAM

      • funny my note II 3g has 2gb of ram

    • Just $100 extra for white Note 2 from Unique Mobiles.

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/83686

  • It may be worth mentioning that the 32GB version of the galaxy S3 is $519 + $19.

How much space does android apps normally take? I imagine a 16GB would suffice since you can buy external card for storing music

    • 16GB is plenty as long as you don't have 10GB of music/video.

      • If you have 10 GB of music/video (which isn't a problem) you simply put it on your SD card - which is cheap, and available up to 64GB last I looked.

  • 16gb is fine for most avg users who dont go recording their daily lives

8gb on the nexus 4 without sd card however….thats different story…that would be cutting damn close

    i think thats about 5gb user available..most likely 4…as a sgs3 has about 11.25gb free

  • I got my S3 (well, technicaly, it's the wife's phone now) yesterday…The seal was not broken and everything is perfect! They even supplied an Aussie plug aftermarket adaptor. My only gripe is that the price has dropped (bought in the last deal for $478 delivered)…

Have already emailed their customer service nicely to ask for a $10 store credit…see what happens…

  • Anyone know if the standard S3 is upgradeable to Jelly Bean without flashing a custom rom yet? I'm torn between this and the Nexus 4 but no jelly bean yet would have me leaning towards the Nexus 4 - Google Now is amazing.

    • Some countries have it, some only for 3G and not the LTE versions, and some LTE S3's come with it pre-installed… as far as I'm aware, not yet in Australia, though nothing stopping you from using a non-Australian version generally speaking. It's unlikely the phone you buy from Kogan will come with Australian firmware or be intended for an Australian market anyway.

  • +2

Price changed back to 479$ ?

    • Yup, seems they raised the price again.

  • Deal is back and now note 2 4G is $729

    • Unexpired and updated, thanks :)

  • +1

I'd choose this over the Nexus 4 if only the shipping was free… :)?

Anyone know time for shipping once dispatched, these days with Kogan?

  • read the comments half way up the page for your answer on shipping.

  • Come on Kogan! Do a deal on the Note 2 7100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • -1

Surprising how the $478 S3 deal a week ago from Kogan attracted over 100 votes, and now only ones third even though the phone had dropped by another $10. Nexus 4 is already eating into the S3 market even before its release.
