But then you're stuck on restricted Apple iOS compared to Android, pretty important to those who will benefit from it

            • +1

              @kungfuman:

U do know apple have opened up ios for side loading apps

              Except…

              https://www.reddit.com/r/applesucks/comments/1ab6vga/sideloa…

Thats right. You can't just sideload any app. It still need to be vetted by apple and app devs still gotta pay apple for the privellege of getting bent over by them. Wonderful.

Oh forgot to mention. This appears to be an EU thing as you know Apple will just do the malicious compliance thing.

              • -1

@xoom: The pay to be on the platform keeps well maintained apps and removes any malicious apps from being in the app store but the system is more open than it has ever been first version of ios there was no app store. I never said it was as open as Android , i said its less relievent, on a small percentage of users care either way

                • +1

@kungfuman: No one is disputing that it is more opened than before.

Understand where people are coming from android. They can install whatever. Not saying its a good or bad thing. Just saying how it is over at android.

They may want this with ios. I get you. People may not understand the risk. Or they may not care.

Either way. Thats what some people want. The freedom for devs to get apps in ios devices without the hoops that Apple imposes on them.

And for people to be able install whatever they want. They see it as convenience. You see it as a security nightmare. Again many don't care.

                  • -3

@xoom: And as i said only a small percentage of people care about this, most people want to download and app and it works well on a tablet every time. I am not saying android has no tablet apps they do but nowhere near as many as an ipad would have.i am saying paying 1400 bucks for good hardware and a lackluster app experience is not worth 1400 bucks

a lot of people recommended iPad to me but I cant stand the operating system also a lot of embroidery software i use isn't available on them. for me it was between this and a cintiq this won out because i can use it without laptop so i can just bring this on short trips

      • -5

As a tablet the apple app store has superior tablet optimized apps because apple makes developers make proper tablet apps. This is not the case on Android i am on a Samsung tab a9 plus right now and still only a certain number of apps support and are optimised for tablets.

        • -1

a lot of embroidery software i use isn't available on them.

Well ios having the superior optimized apps won't help if the app Silkybear wants to use is only available in the playstore.

          • -3

@xoom: As i said android has a long way to go before it can compete in the tablet app space, a space still dominated by the ipad, whether u like it not ipad is still the top selling tablet overall, and there is many reasons behind that. I am only pointing out facts and 1400 for this samsung tab is not worth it

If it was 1000 or less then yes then it would be worth it

As i said android has a long way to go before it can compete in the tablet app space

              Not disputing.

whether u like it not ipad is still the top selling tablet overall, and there is many reasons behind that

Not about what i like or not.

              am only pointing out facts

What samsung price their tablets at is a commercial decision they made.

I too am pointing out facts. What good is an ipad if the app one wants to use is only in the playstore?

If the app is in both appstore and playstore. Sure i get your point. But it isn't.

              • @xoom: Many apps on android are blown up phone apps on android tablets some examples the telstra app, fb messager, X app, coinspot, 3d mark and many many apps are just blown up phone apps this is the problem is many android developers don't care about making apps for tablets, this is why ipads apps are better because apple forces developers to make tablet apps

                • @kungfuman: Which of the below statement did you not understand?

If the app is in both appstore and playstore. Sure i get your point.

But in cases where the app someone wants to use is only available on the play store. How does getting an ipad help them?

All the apps you mentioned are available on both. If all someone wants to use are those apps. Then yeah. Get an ipad.

                  • @xoom: Ok starting over since everyones on a tangent thats way off the point to begin with
1400 for this samsunf tab not worth it Why? Because most people won't pay that much for an android tablet or they will just buy an ipad.

What i am saying the tablet should be under 1000 bucks before people will want to buy it.

                    • @kungfuman: You commented on this. And start going on how the appstore is superior to the playstore. Totally neglecting the fact that the app isn't even available on the app store.

a lot of people recommended iPad to me but I cant stand the operating system also a lot of embroidery software i use isn't available on them.

So how does getting an ipad help this person out you think?

Again. Like i said. I will even recommend it to others. If the apps one likes to run is available on both. Sure get an ipad. If the app you want is only available on android. Your hands are kinda tied. Can't you at least agree on that?

We can discuss pricing on a different thread.

                      • @xoom: Ok if u want to go down this tangent then fine but I have made the point

                        • @kungfuman: You missed the point that the app is only available on the playstore.

Don't get me wrong. Like i said im with you. If apps are on both. Sure ipad it is.

Not disputing the apps are more polished on ios. Not disputing the quality of the apps on ios is greater overall.

Still does not change the original statement Silkybear made. An ipad will be of no use to them.

You can usually find brand new Tab S9 Ultra on Ebay for the same price or not much more. Just have a look at the sold price. The Tab S9 Ultra is a beast compared to this.

  • This device is brilliant. It is however, silver (if you were hoping for beige, lol).

  • +5

The generally superior last-gen Tab S8 Ultra has been as low as $899.

    • Yep and for that price its worth it

  • I sold my 5 year old iPad pro , and bought this, it's not as smooth as my old iPad pro. And the screen it's not as detailed or visually appealing as my iPad pro.

    • I would be surprised if it worked at 5 years so thats impressive i am shocked u still got updates

      • i stopped updating the system 2 years ago, fear the new system its too demanding, i may be wrong.

    • +2

It can't be. If it's Apple iPad Pro (2018) the screen is only LCD and a weaker SoC compared to the Galaxy tab S9.

  • Why pay not pay $150 less for the 256GB version and use the SD-Card slot to add up to an additional 1TB should you need it.

  • Whoa this should be the price of an ultra.
