  • Warranty expires after 84 hours at 4GB/s? Is that math right.

Well MTBF isn't warranty, it's their informed guess on how much use it can withstand before failure starts occurring. That said how were you planning on writing to it at 4GB/s for 84hrs as it's only 2TB of capacity….so you'd have to overwrite it ~850 times… Seems like you might be looking at the wrong product for your application 😊

    • No, that's not the maths. You can't directly translate the hours to the number of hours that SSD on average will service. You need to convert it into a form that tells you the failure rate per year. Not easy to find a good converter online. Basically, that figure just means the expected failure rate in the first year is less than 0.88%. That figure climbs up each year. Normally, the failure rate is quite acceptable in the first 5 years, hence 5 years warranty.

It is not a measurement that is TBW related. There is an assumption of a typical / normal operation. Generally, the real world failure rate tends to be higher than the quoted MTBF.

  • Can anyone recommend a heatsink for this for PC? The one provided by SK Hynix is for PS5 only. Thanks.
