        could be as simple as Uber trying to put the pressure on DD.
        They might be happy to take a hit for a while with people paying for Uber One, in an effort for them to not use DoorDash.

        In my industry we'll often sell at a loss on some products, to try prevent business going elsewhere.

        As much as people like ragging on Uber as a company that treats their drivers unethically / immorally, the reality is that Uber is a company that has yet to turn a profit, and has no real pathway to profitability with their current business model.

        This idea of a "marketplace", where you basically charge a matching fee has never worked, and has never been profitable. The only reason why Uber is still alive is because there is some hope that fleet electrification (which basically will allow Uber to pay drivers less per km, as they end up paying around 25% as much for electricity vs. petrol), and later on, autonomous vehicles can potentially make Uber profitable.

        What it comes down to between Uber and its competition is who can (i) stay liquid until the market shifts in their favour, and (ii) who can be in the position with the biggest market share to take advantage of that shift. The art is basically in splashing as much cash as they can on customer acquisition, but not too much that they go insolvent.

        Depends if you've got certain types of cards, I don't. Instead utilise retention offers. YMMV but I got below.
        Cancel membership -> price too high -> offered 90% off next month
        Next month cancel membership -> price too high -> offered 90% off next 3 months.
