Noticed Temu have bumped their minimum spend to a whopping $50. Their site is also chock full of spammy and incredibly misleading promos and phoney reviews.

Argh. I was going to be a first time customer the other night and it was $35. I gave up. $50 kills it

      • +3

See my response below. Also as first time customer, you'll start with $15 limit.

I regret not utilizing my intro discount to the fullest.

        • I'm not even sure how to use it. I set up an account the other night but didn't buy. Not sure if I still qualify

Yeah I was just reading a review on garments and the feedback comment was talking about the how great the scent was. Clearly infested with bot reviews.

They're heavily trying to compete with Aliexpress but I just find Temu's range inferior and just full of absolute garbage and e-waste.

Start a chat with the Temu bot. Type "order restrictions to be removed", it'll give you the option to remove the limit, type "remove the restriction", and it'll bring it down to $15

Doesn't work for me, I get this message "We're committed to reducing our carbon footprint and promoting green shopping habits. As part of this effort, we've implemented a minimum order requirement and are limiting excess packaging. Please add more items to your cart to meet this requirement and join us in our sustainability mission."

        • Yup, I get the same. If this was some kind of loophole, seems they’ve now closed it.

It took me a second to realise that there is a button 'attached' to that message that says "> Remove the restriction". Clicking that worked for me

@Perch: Just tried again and this time got a different message which allowed me to remove the restriction :-)

      • Worked for me. Legend.

    • Minimum spend increases with frequent purchases, I don't see new users having $50 limit

I’ve been using Temu for a year now and it’s fantastic for a lot of stuff (cheaper than Amazon and Ali generally) and their refund system is better than Amazon’s. However their model/marketing is scammy and it can get addictive. With the bump up of the minimum spend to $50 for free delivery it’s no longer worth it anymore.

  • I did an order for just over $20 on the 26th with free shipping. Has the $50 limit come in after this?

I used Temu just before last Christmas and my HSBC credit card was hacked, my sister in Melbourne with a different bank also got her credit card hacked using Temu too, I'd stay away from this company altogether.

    • I always use paypal just to be on safer side
