Why bother if your savings account pays you better?
Credit card points?
Your savings account is only going to pay you better if you hold these for 6+ months before using. If you buy and then use relatively quickly then you are better off, but yeah 3% isn't huge.
Plus you get taxed on that amount
Because savings interest is calculated per year. Eg 5% per year not 5% every day This is immediate savings.
Makes no difference even if you were getting 1,825% interest unless you otherwise would've paid for your shopping via credit card, but had to use savings to buy these for some reason. Either way, same interest on same savings till the credit card is due. Guess the point would be that if the discount were larger, then you could buy say a years worth and end up in front compared to just leaving the money in your savings account and paying for your shopping each month.
Oh, also speaking of credit card vs. savings. 3.5% for Woolworths at Macquarie market place. Pretty sure that's the usual rate to. But can only is paid out of your Macquarie account, so unless you have a Macquarie credit card, you would be paying out of savings. Still not going to make much difference. For example, if you bought $100 worth of shopping and that $100 sat in your savings account for 30 days till your credit card bill was due. You'd earn like 40c interest. On the other hand, if you bought a $100 card, you'd save $3.50. So not much difference. Only really add up if you transferred the credit balance to get 0% for longer.

@rickb: Yes. Worked fine for Woolies & Your Pick GCs, but not for Wish one. I ended up buying Your Pick GC and swapping it to Wish GC.

There is also a bonus BOOST offer of 2500 points that is expiring tomorrow when you spend over $350 (or 1800 points for over $250, or 1200 points for over $180). Think would work out not too bad with this 3% extra wish giftcard offer

2500 points is worth $12.50, plus the 3% ($10.50) saving on a $350 card. So a total of 6.6% discount ($23) on $350 gift card.
Edit - Ah, maybe you have to buy a $361 gift card ($350.17 after 3% off) to get the 2500 points
I don't believe they're stackable. I asked Woolworths Gift Cards to clarify and they confirmed that it's one or the other, presumably because of this line in the terms:
Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer unless otherwise specified.
Currently there's no way to purchase no discount eligible eGC for bonus pts offer in the App.

@ozbmm: I suggest calling them up. I've had bonus points not reflect in my account before and when I've called them up, they make the adjustment manually.

Seeking some clarification, I bought a $180 Everyday Wish Card to get the 1200 points after activating the Boost on the APP (as per T&C's). Are you saying that this didn't qualify because it needed to be over $180?

The T&C's state if you spend $180 - $249.99 you will collect 1200 points. It doesn't state $180.00/$180.01 - $249.99.
T&C says the 2500 points one expires at 8:59 2/4 so can’t stack any more. Also, you don't get to earn standard points when you use those gift cards.

Website on PC, but I believe it's the same chat. Just type human to be put through to a real person.

@Nohtyp: I didn't have to provide a screenshot. They should know about it, as long as the gift card was purchased before 2 April 9AM AEDST it should be fine.
