After a couple of mediocre generations, Lenovo have finally un-nerfed the ThinkBook for Gen 7:

  • Return to colour accurate IPS displays
  • Dual SO-DIMM slots for an upgradable max 64GB RAM (2x32GB)
  • Dual M.2 slots + single Thunderbolt 4 + Gigabit Ethernet + 71Wh battery

Add 16GB of Crucial RAM from Amazon for $82 to build a balanced 32GB machine for under $1.4K
Note: highly recommended to upgrade the RAM as the stock single SO-DIMM config chokes the integrated Arc graphics

To get the deal specs/price, tick the following option in the builder:

In Step 1 Configuration: Add Intel Core Ultra 5 125H Processor +$50

In Step 2 Services: Swap to "1 Year" under Depot Support -$47.19

  • Nice, but so heavy, I kind of regret my legion 5 pro tbh

      Lenovo "ThickBook" 😂

  • So which is better? This or the ASUS Vivobook R7-7730U. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/839391

I still use a 3kg+ Dell 17R SE from a deal posted by scotty years ago, so 1.7kg is nothing to me.

Would rather a Thinkpad but this is very tempting because of the screen.

  • I'm guessing they validate you are in-fact a student before giving you access to the Edu Store?

They'd send a confirmation to click through from the edu address supplied.

      • Ah yes np, thank you!
