ANZ Platinum Credit Card: $300 Cashback with $1,500 Spend in 3 Months, No First Year Annual Fee ($87 p.a. Thereafter)

1980

Pretty much 20% off for your next $1,500 of purchases. $6,000 minimum credit limit is the only barrier to entry, otherwise the criteria is pretty easy as you can spend the money any time in the first 3 months.

From the website:

"Eligible applicants must meet the spend criteria within 3 months of the date of approval. The date of approval of an application is the disclosure date specified in your Letter of Offer. Eligible purchases includes purchases made using your account but excludes specific purchases as set out in the ANZ Credit Card Conditions of Use (PDF). Excluded purchases include, for example, fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balances transfers, premiums paid for ANZ credit card insurance, transactions for gambling or gaming purposes or reversed or refunded transactions and will not qualify. The $300 will generally be credited to your ANZ Credit Card Account within 3 months of meeting the spend criteria. The $300 credit will be applied to the purchases balance and does not constitute a payment under your Credit Card Contract with ANZ. You will not be eligible for $300 back if your ANZ Credit Card Account is cancelled, suspended, transferred, or you are in default or breached the ANZ Credit Card Conditions of Use (PDF)."

Edit: some people have issues accessing the deal (i.e. clicking apply and the the website saying that the offer is no longer available). Some solutions have been to search for the card organically (not using the post link) or using a different browser or device.

Edit: The page is now 'down' for maintenance not just for this card but for their other cards too. I'll report again if I see the issue resolve.

Edit: it’s back online.

Seems ANZ's fancy ANZ Falcon™ protection system went all Karen over "suspicious" transactions for thousands of customers. Have to contact them to unblock my card, all over a 48 pack of Quilton :(

"ANZ deemed a $10 transaction at my local RSL club to be suspicious and blocked my card."

        • "ANZ deemed a $10 transaction at my local RSL club to be suspicious and blocked my card."

They probably suspected you paid too much for your Sunday night roast and drink!

  • How is it with foreign transactions? Does it charge fee a lot?

    • 3% Forex fee, Visa conversion rate. Reduces the profit from 20% to 17% of spend effectively. Other than that, shouldn't run into any fees for everyday use.

    • +1

Does it charge fee a lot?

      Oh, yes.

  • When i try to apply it says sorry that offer cannot be found or has ended

    • Try a different browser or device.

  • -1

    Offer expired

    • Just checked and the offer isn't expired. If the link doesn't work for you, try organic search from your browser, or try on a different device. That worked for some people.

      • It just worked now. Didn't do anything different

  • I have already held this credit card before and I closed it 1 year ago. Can I still apply for it and get the cashback?

    • Probably. Message their chat service and get written confirmation.

  • The last step when submitting the final application, failed… :(

  • No points. Is it really a platinum?

  • Can I meet the $1500 spending requirement by buying gift cards from Prezzee?

    • Most gift card purchases qualify from my experience.

      • Just wondering - does paying for health insurance premium count towards an eligible purchase?

        • +1

I've found if it's a card payment on a website, yes. I did similar with another card (for a yearly gym membership payment). Will likely get this card to pay for this year's membership.

      • Does Wish Gift Cards work from your experience?

i.e. gift cards direct from Woolworths: giftcards.woolworths.com.au

Excluded purchases include, for example, fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balances transfers, premiums paid for ANZ credit card insurance, transactions for gambling or gaming purposes or reversed or refunded transactions and will not qualify.

          gift cards are fine.

          • @bohn: Would gift cards not fall under "cash equivalent transactions"?

            • @OZBMate8911: tbh I think cash equiv transactions are more related to travellers cheques, buying foreign currency, wire transfers, peer to peer payments.

I've never had an issue with giftcard purchases

    • Hmm… I now get that error too. Hopefully they aren't taking it away.

      It's back :)

  • I’m unsure what makes this card better than say a BankWest platinum?

It also has insurance, fee free o/s purchases but no requirement for $20k running the risk of an annual fee. If you’re looking at churning for the signup bonus, there is also higher signup bonuses.

    • +1

This card has a high bonus to spend ratio, and more accessible than higher tier cards. The bankwest is definitely better outside of this.

    applied today, got approved today.
not that many good card offers around at the moment so this will have to do.

  • First time that I've ever been asked for 6 payslips….

    • That's ANZ.

  • For those wondering, I contacted ANZ. I was told that I wasn't eligible for the $300 cashback because I recently had a platinum card and there is a cool down period (which wasn't specified)

    • Did you ask how long the cool down period is?

      • I asked multiple times but they said they weren't allowed to tell me.

    • You should ask them in writing. At least show you in their T&Cs else what they are doing is false advertising.

    • because I recently had a platinum card

how recent? I applied for and closed a ANZ FF card recently, and I applied just after the 12mths closure of my previous card - and got the benefits.

      • Mine was very recent. I closed my old card a few months ago. As I said there seems to be a cool down period that they refused to specify. I assume it is the standard 12 or 18 months as most other cards

        • Safe to say it is 12 months like their qff and rewards cards

  • Just closed my ANZ FF Black last month.

Applied to this one and got approved today.
Hopefully will receive the $300 cashback given that the T&C doesn't mention about any cooldown period for previously owned FF or Rewards cards.

    Fingers crossed!

    • 12mth for FF and a separate 12 mth for rewards cards.

As long as you haven't had a Rewards in the last 12mths , no problem. FF doesn't matter in relation to this card.

      • I did have an ANZ Rewards card which I closed in November last year, so only been 4 months since I closed.

But this card is not a FF or Rewards card though? Should be safe?

        • I thought this was a Rewards card
I thought they only had Rewards and Frequent Flyer cards but perhaps they have more now..

I might be wrong, in which case - good. Then I can apply for a Rewards card shortly ;)

          • @bohn: Look at this link

            https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/

            It is divided by:

            What are you looking for?

            • Low rate or fee cards

            • Reward Points cards

            • Qantas Points cards

            • @CodeXD: yeah gathered that re the card I initially linked.
hence removed and isn't there at the time of your posting

don't think I've ever bothered with these card offers before as the Rewards & FF has been superior. But we are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for good offers at the moment

Think it's been quite awhile since we've had a decent Rewards bonus.

            • @CodeXD: also i am so sick of zippay - I've been using them for many months spending like mad on it and they just won't increase the limit from 350 heh ;/

  • Got it approved today. How do I know if it comes with the joining bonus of $300 on $1500 spend? None of the emails that I received mentions this 🤔

    • +1

I always take screenshots of my application that shows all that. Just in case ;)

    • Promotion information will rarely, if ever, included with welcome credit card mail/post.

  • How's ANZ's application and approval process? Still completely unpredictable and broken? Anyone have feedback on their app/online gateways? Wondering if the stress of the horror stories are worth the cash back….

    • Fine for me, can't say about others. YMMV

    • +1

      Mine was great this time

  • So would I be correct in assuming you would be able to churn through:
    1) This Card
    2) ANZ Qantas FF Black
    3) ANZ Rewards Black

ALL within the same 12 month period, as they each have their own respective cooldown periods?

    • +1

      Correct.

  • hmm wonder when the offer ends

    • ANZ don't tell the end date of their promotions.

  • ANZ is the worst bank I've ever dealt with. 110k base + 30k bonus on a 220k mortgage, cant get myself approved on credit card because their indian call center does not understand what is bonus. Shhhh

    • That's not good. How long did it take for them to reject your application? I applied back on 12/4 but up till now, still no response at all from ANZ. Worst bank ever.

      • a week I would say. But they will still call you to let you know the rejection though

    • That probably by the person who processed your application. I got a call from them after applied for a FF card confirmed if my latest payslip with a higher take home amount was due to bonus. Told them that was correct and they immediately said my application is approved.

      • funny thing is my mortgage is with ANZ. I had three different person calling me and re-submitted the application twice, each call was about 25mins. I had enough and decided to withdraw my application.

  • +1

Wtf my application got declined, says my expenses are too high…

    Expenses per month $3500

Pay per month $5400 (after tax)

How can I get denied over a $6000 credit limit when I have a good credit rating aswell and never miss a payment. What a joke.

    • +1

I always say $1000 of expenses and never questioned why. However ANZ approval process is the worst, it is like the audit, want the proof for all income items. NAB is the easiest process for all types of cards

    • +1

Call them back and say you double counted an expense and bring it down.

      • I did and i was told the same thing my expenses are to high, i asked the guy to run back everything as i think they put something in per week vs per month, then was told they cant do that and ill get a call from a superviser in the next week…

My new cost btw is Expenses per month $3000 vs Pay per month $5400 (after tax) oh and i have my house loan with them aswell so even more of a wtf

        • May be reducing your expenses next time.

I'm usually entered appx 30-40% of the take home amount. But I don't have any mortgage.

      • After three calls to ANZ I finally got a call back.

Went over everything again , Expenses per month $2100 vs Pay per month $5400 after tax.

Still got rejected for "expenses are too" "you are unable to service the card"

        What a joke!

  • +1

Idiocracy is the second name of that bank.
Rental property mortgage payments are taken into account but tenants payments are not.

  • -5

Don't bother applying unless you show +$200K income and ZERO expenses, otherwise you will get a rejection email within less than 60 seconds of submitting your application.
Also, there will be a credit enquiry on your credit report which will impact your credit score for that less than 60 sec assessment by the computer.

    • I just got approved today after getting a call to clarify my expenses. They were reasonable.
On thebother hand i got rejected by Commbank for same details that i gave Anz. So go figure.

      • +1

CommBank is a POS my application has been pending with them for 3-4 weeks I ended up cancelling and applying to ANZ I’ve been conditionally approved. Now I got a credit check from CommBank for nothing

    • I'm sorry that ANZ hate you.

  • Has anyone received their $300 cashback yet?

    Approved 10th April.
Received card and achieved my $1500 spending 16th April.
    Received statement 25th April.
Still haven't received my cashback yet until now.

I spent total of $1500.80 on zip and afterpay.
Statement shows i made $1501 of eligible purchases.

    • +3

Received $300 credit today May 4th

      • Got mine May 3rd

  • Put my application through on the 6th of April and was only approved today. They wanted a ton of evidence such as last years 16 page tax return, my notice of assessment, statements, expenses etc.

They were very slow to process anything, I uploaded documents to their secure portal and via email multiple times as I was getting system generated emails / texts saying they stll needed the documents.

Can't believe how hard it is to get a $6k CC now.

  • Will i be eligible if i have held a Anz qantas platinum card and cancelled a few months ago?

  • Closed this card December 23, anyone applied since and gotten credit? Can’t see any T+C saying otherwise

  • Opened on 23/04. Got the $300 cb on 3/5. Pretty smooth overall.

  • Spend met on 24/04, still waiting for cashback to drop

    • Same here.

      • Same here

  • Does anyone know where you can find info on what "eligible" purchases are and what aren't?

Like paying for motor insurance or using After Pay considered "eligible"?

    • In their T&Cs.

Click on the ANZ link above, scroll all the way to near the end, under the "Important information", you'll see it there in the linked pdf.
