Amazon Delivery Timeframe Changes

Is it just me, or has something changed with the speed of Amazon delivery? I've been purchasing stuff from Amazon regularly for the last few years, with 95% of stuff being 1-2 days delivery. As of last week, everything is 1 week +. Any idea what is going on? I am in Melbourne outer suburbs.

    Same same for me. Instant.

  • Are you saying it's 1+ week on the website or you're ordering with 1-2 days and it takes 1 week? The former happens all the time, it's likely just in another warehouse and they need to move it (or it's an overseas order or delivered by a third party), the latter I had happen over easter (my same day order took 3 days) but generally everything is disrupted over holidays.

    • Estimated delivery on the website is 1 week+ instead of 1-2 days… for common things sold and fulfilled by Amazon AU.

Maybe it's just my delivery location, but why would it suddenly be so bad?

  • +2

recently a number of deals were posted here that are Amazon US via Amazon AU which take longer..

  • it seem to depend on who is delivering it. If its austpost then its still 1-2 days eventhough they say it will be 2 weeks. If it goes to a courier then its a pot luck and upto 2 weeks.

    everything is 1 week +

    That is an outright lie….

I ordered last night and it is arriving tomorrow.

    • What did you buy?

  • Have you changed postal address? I found that it's always estimated next day if I select my residential address as it would be delivered by Amazon Flex drivers. However if I wanted my parcel to be delivered to an AusPost Parcel Locker, Amazon would estimate ~1 week even though it's usually just another day (except if weekend).

  • Another factor is the items you are buying could be those that are incoming to their warehouse not ones already in their warehouse.

  • Happens often in north Brisbane suburbs. Usually after big sale events, sometimes see the times go up to 2 weeks. But usually the times will go back to normal within a few days.

  • I guess it is just me then, based on my location and the availability of Amazon drivers.

  • Same. Also lots of late deliveries where something doesn’t arrive the day it’s supposed to.

  • similar to my experience. i am also finding with some drivers they do not ring my doorbell, don't follow my specific delivery instructions where i say how to ring the doorbell or call my number and just take it back to the delivery hub, this gets repeated 2-3 times and i end up just asking for a refund of the item

  • Same happening to me. Are they using a shipping company called Dragonfly?

Seems like they are saving costs and using this company to delivery only once a week now. Compared to what was previously 1-2days max for local items. This includes Amazon’s own hardware etc. this previously shipped next day including weekends but now I no longer get weekend deliveries at all and minimum one week delivery time on everything.

This makes other companies more attractive to purchase from in future as the connivence of purchasing via Amazon and getting 1-2 day delivery no longer applies.
