  • How do I know which stores accept them. The Ampol site is broken, when I filter for the Ampolcash Digital option, every store still shows. I even tried filtering for Guzman Gomez stores and they still all appear. When I call around, some say they need a QR code, and some say they need the 10 digit code from the Ampol Cash. What am I missing?

The Ampol store locator is the source of truth.

It is odd to hear you are having issues with the filter, because when I followed the link in OP’s description for the Ampol store locator, the AmpolCash Digital option is already filtered.

Only about 5% of service stations in Ampol’s network do not accept AmpolCash Digital (and a lot of these are unattended service stations that use automated fuel dispensers).

When I call around, some say they need a QR code, and some say they need the 10 digit code from the Ampol Cash.

Each AmpolCash Digital gift card comes with a QR code and a 10 digit gift card number. You need to use one of these to redeem your gift card.

Most Ampol service stations (e.g. Ampol Foodary, EG Ampol) are able to scan the QR code. However, some Ampol service stations are not set up to scan QR codes and would therefore need the 10 digit gift card number.

Prezzee has a somewhat handy guide on redeeming AmpolCash Digital gift cards if you are interested in learning more.

  • Can you stack these with the EDR and NRMA discounts when using this in the servo?

    • +1

You can stack with nrma discount and get EDR pts/ bonuses.

    • +1

      Probably not.

The My NRMA discount terms and conditions says:

      The Offer:

      c. cannot be used in conjunction with any other fuel discount or loyalty offer, or for commercial purposes or by NRMA business members.

The Everyday Rewards discount is a separate fuel discount offer, so that officially cannot be stacked with the My NRMA discount.

      In terms of reality:

      • Some Ampol Foodary service stations have programmed their checkouts so that if you present an Everyday Rewards card to claim the fuel discount and a My NMRA discount, the checkout will void one discount.

      • Other Ampol Foodary service stations appear to have checkouts that will let you stack both, but staff are usually trained to only accept one fuel discount (which means they should ask which discount you want to redeem).

However, if you go to an Ampol Foodary that accepts Everyday Rewards (and not all of them do), you can still redeem the My NRMA discount and earn Everyday Rewards points.

      • All mainland Australia Ampol Foodary should accept EDR for points as a baseline. The obvious exception being the Ampol Foodary locations in Tasmania. Most of the 200+ Ampol Foodary locations that also accept the EDR discount in addition to the points were formerly part of the Caltex Woolworths JV.

From experiences with the SE Qld locations, the Ampol Foodary POS usually voids the first discount presented when presenting the 2nd card. Did that mistake when presenting the EDR second and instead printed the "Your next discount will expire on x/x/x" below the WW EDR card details, thus ended up burning the EDR discount.

      • Yes, I've been able to stack EDR and NRMA at some servos (have had that experience in some servos where they only accept one) but just wondering if it will still work if I pay using the digital gift card.

        • +1

          Oh whoops.

It should be fine to stack the EDR discount and/or the My NRMA discount with AmpolCash Digital gift cards at Ampol Foodary, because neither discount lists AmpolCash as an excluded payment method. There are plenty of people on this site who have been able to redeem either/both discounts and pay using AmpolCash.

You cannot use any fuel discount offer when you use AmpolCard (the fuel charge card) as a payment method, as AmpolCard has their own discounts and/or perks. There was one instance where I got into an argument with an attendant, because the attendant confused my AmpolCash gift card with AmpolCard, and insisted that I could not claim any fuel discounts…

As an aside, there is one independent Ampol service station in Hobart that honours the Everyday Rewards discount, but if you claim that discount, they will not let you pay for your fuel using AmpolCash gift cards.

Additionally, another Ampol franchisee in Hobart specifically excludes AmpolCash gift cards as a payment method if you claim one of their fuel discount offers.

I doubt that either really matters to you, but those are the only Ampol service stations I can think of that do not let you claim a fuel discount offer and pay using AmpolCash.

  • Stacked this deal with $12 Bonus Cashback on Gift Cards (Min Spend $200) for Westpac

  • just now, I filled in part tank to finish $35 worth of Ampol as Shell was cheaper for me using Shell V-rewards + Coles; also was thinking of using 7-Eleven to get some bonus frequent flyer…

now back to the grind of having a few $$$ in Ampol gift cards waiting for the right moment to buy when the price is low!

    Thanks OP!

Stack it with St. George $5 cb on $75 spend.

  • Can you use woolies 4 cent discount voucher and Origin 4 cent off when you go to pay if it's a woolies Ampol?

    • +1

Yes, you can do this at EG Ampol. I did that earlier this week (and I used AmpolCash gift cards as the payment method).

You cannot do this at an Ampol Foodary that accepts the Woolworths fuel discount, because the Origin fuel discount voucher is only valid at EG Ampol.

If you want to learn more, there is a wiki page for fuel discounts that tries to explain all of this.

  • Shopback doesn't have any AmpolCash vouchers available at all. When I search for them they are either "sold out" or "ënded" I contacted Shopback and was advised that they didn't know.

    • That’s frustrating.

If you (or someone you know) happen to have access to Reward Gateway, that portal is selling AmpolCash Digital gift cards at 6% off (ends Sunday).

      • I don't know anyone that has heard of Reward Gateway. Any other AmpolCash Digital Gift Card options?

        • There are honestly not a lot of options for discounted AmpolCash gift cards at the moment. I had a look at the OzBargain wiki for gift card discounts and it is slim pickings. I guess the easiest portal to access would be Cashrewards, but 2.5% cashback is rather measly.

Ampol usually run a 5% off deal for AmpolCash physical gift cards starting in April, but Ampol brought the deal forward by a month this year, so that is of no use to you right now.

Alternatively, if you have access to HCF Thank You (accessible for nearly all HCF insurance policyholders), they currently sell the Category Choice Fuel eGift Card at 3% off. That is basically an Activ Visa gift card that can be redeemed at any merchant categorised as a service station (as well as a few other merchant types), but you would need to store it as a payment card on Apple Pay / Google Wallet / Samsung Wallet before you can redeem it.

Alternatively, you could use a 7-Eleven digital gift card at Ampol, as that is an Activ Visa gift card that appears to work at any merchant categorised as a service station (or miscellaneous food store).

            thanks for the heads-up :)

            https://www.categorychoice.com.au/card/fuel/

The Category Choice Fuel Gift Card can be used at the following merchant category locations: Service Stations (5541), Motorcycle Shops and Dealers (5571), Motor Vehicle Supplies and New Parts (5013), Automotive Tire Stores (5532), Automotive Parts and Accessories Stores (5533) Automotive Body Repair Shops (7531), Automotive Service Shops (7538)

            • @tonester: HCF Thank You also sells the Category Choice Grocery gift card at 3% off, but considering that is also functionally an Activ Visa gift card:

              • It cannot be used to purchase some gift cards at Woolworths (e.g, TCN eftpos).

              • It should have the same redemption restrictions imposed by BHN at supermarkets as other Activ Visa gift cards.

              • It should suffer from the classic Invalid Card issue from time to time.

  • Just saw that CashRewards is now 2.5%
