Dyson Vac Replacement Battery Mods

I know that there are battery replacement parts for Dyson cordless vacuums and originals cost almost 5 times.

So settling for generic brands on Amazon which are on promotion at the moment, considering there are different battery models ranging from V6 -v10.

If I used V8 battery counter part for V6 would there be a issue, even as long as it fits? It does have better battery capacity which is a better solution for my daily use.

When my dyson vac battery dies then i am going to get a makita to dyson battery adapter and use my makita 4mAh battery

    • 4mAh battery

Won't have much run time 😉

    • I did this - a v7 running on Ryobi one+ batteries.

Works a treat - a 4ah battery gives us a decent bit more runtime than the original.

Full disclosure - the power head inexplicably stopped working not long after the change of batteries, but a cheap aftermarket one does the job just as well. Unsure if that’s related, but it seems sus

  • Have you tried ringing Dyson and asking for a quote? I know of someone with an out of warranty V10 and they replaced the battery for free. She is a repeat customer though.

    • Also, last time I contacted them about a new battery for my oldish handheld Dyson, they gave me a 35% off code for a new one

  • It's a simple fix actually, one screw removal and remove battery pack and place new one in, Dyson are like apple very expensive, the price replacement better off getting new unit. I'm more concerned more hight mah capacity cold over heat the board and fry the mother board.

I bought a Greenworks compatible battery off batterymate and it works well. Their dyson v6 is about $45 now. 3 years warranty but no idea on whether it's easy to claim

  • I ordered one of these April 1 and it just arrived :) https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006500437172.html
