I mentioned before on a previous Voda deal post that the 5G doesn't save Vodafone data and that still stands, but from someone's suggestion, forcing my phone to 4G only has made a big difference in service stability.

I just activated this exact plan from Woolworths yesterday that I bought 6 months ago . No issues with the 240gb .
I was with Boost and the transfer took about an hour and a half .
I just bought this sim pack from Woolies yesterday - it is featured in the current catalogue at $150 with bonus 2000 points ($10 rewards).
If you have woolies extra, you can get 10% off the sim pack and 2X points.

I bought the same $250 SIM for $150 at Woolies this morning after joining Everyday Extra trial, and using a Woolies gift card. Thanks @jkitty for the tips incl. Nov-24 deadline commented below.
My Woolworths e-receipt shows Everyday Extra double points on my shop but didn't apply $10% off. I'm checking why with chat support now.
Also, only 2,000 bonus Everyday Rewards points were added. Extra subscriber terms noted below that bonus points aren't doubled must have been applied after @Jkitty purchased.
Vodafone SIM pack is labelled with 240GB as standard. It says manufacture date is Dec-2020 so I'll argue the point if any missing data on activation. Other store stock or OW vs Woolies might vary to explain other comments of 90GB missing.
I also bought (less 10% extras) these SIM's for porting two expiring plans. Seemed like decent deals…
an Amaysim $2 SIM for $1 (half price) , and
a Lebara 120GB 28-day SIM for $20 (RRP $49.90) as I'll use a lot of tethering next month.

Checked with the staff who scanned to be $150 with 2000 bonus points which matches this offer. However, the staff said 10% off doesn't apply to this SIm card as it is a gift card.
I didnt buy in the end due to different package. Going to another shop and have a look.
@hohoisme: I contacted Rewards chat, found the sign up to Rewards Extra failed before I bought (noticed only single points after my comment above). I joined again, and chat support credited 10% and double points. From terms I read, I don't think a SIM is classed as a gift card so staff member might be mistaken.
@TheLurker: I read the terms and conditions which says double points are not applicable for mobile recharge. Did they give you 4000 points for the vodafone sim?
Did you get 240GB though? Someone on the deal post confirmed that it was only actually 150GB and the bonus 90GB was confirmed to not be included by Vodafone

My place in Brissy, they both are almost same. Would give Voda a bit extra points though.
Based on experience, Boost is way better in terms of signal strength.
Melbourne inner CBD, Vodafone still sucks! Especially if you are coming out of a basement with no network it doesn't catch back on.
No phone network controls how often your phone rescans (searches) for a network, that's up to the phone OS to do :)
It's not the rescan part, it connects again ut internet doesn't come back on. I was with Telstra for years, didn't have that issue
But I will check if there is any setting in androidj that changes the rescan frequency.
@abs898: Interesting. I use Vodafone in Melbourne CBD and haven't had this issue when exiting carparks, connects very quickly (I'm normally streaming Spotify).

Also based in (metro) Brisbane. Vodafone has been the worst service/reception I've ever had. I had no issues with Boost, it was great!
Since switching to Vodafone I've had consistently patchy reception, terrible signal, calls dropping, etc. Swapped sims from multiple phones in the family, just to check it wasn't the phone itself. But it just reinforced that it was Vodafone. I paid for the Vodafone $99 for 250gb deal back in November… I wish I hadn't. Just a bit of anecdotal warning from the other side of the fence

Near Liverpool, reception is fine outdoors but drops to zero once indoors.
Same with my neighbours, we've all switched away after Vodafone kept giving us free service instead of actually fixing the problem.

At my place the closest tower is Voda so 4 of 5 bars on 5G. My buddy on Telstra visited yesterday and was stuck with 4G.
Vodafone still suffers in some regional and rural areas, at least from my experience. In other places it's the best of the three. Really depends.
For me it would be close to a day and night experience , although voda is okay at 3064 , it can get very patchy. Boost is a lot more solid as a provider , however it depends on who you talk too.
In Newcastle it works better at the big shopping malls due to having better coverage indoors
i live in newcastle and can agree that vodafone is much better for indoor coverage in the shops like kotara westfield or charlestown.
Vodafone is good in alot of places in newcastle as well but i reckon its just because theres like ZERO vodafone users.
i noticed everyone in newcastle just uses telstra most of the time.
Yeah for sure seems like everyone is on Telstra and as a result it kinda sucks westfield during christmas time is unusable on Telstra. Vodafone seems to work better but I've noticed that calls aren't as good getting more calls failing than on Telstra.
@Joshminey: yeah. telstra has a indoor system that doesnt have lots of capacity at the westfield so it gets overloaded very quick especially for their subscribers.
i was at the McDonald Jones stadium on friday and telstra was unusable the whole time so there was wayyyy too many subscribers while vodafone was doing 5-30 mbps the whole game including half time i even have to hotspot my mum that was on telstra because it was just texts and calls at some point.
i reckon this deal $250 year plan for $150 is good for people on a budget or kids having their first sim and want to be cheap and wanna know how much data they end up using first.
i still reckon people should go for optus or telstra at some point now vodafone prices is pretty much the same as them.

How long do you have to activate once purchased? I dont get any 5G coverage with Telstra in my immediate area but everywhere else is fine. Want to purchase this and wait as long as possible before my sim expires

Do you know if wi-fi calling works whilst you are overseas? Boost definitely did when I was in Bali, Vietnam and Thailand. It was as if I was calling from Australia despite being miles away.
Same experience with Boost with wifi calling from Thailand. Saved heaps on calling
@3sky: Yep. The reason why I am staying with Boost, for work and for emergency use purpose. If other providers can do the same, maybe I will move away.
Vodafone and Optus and any company using them disable wifi calling from overseas IP. Only works if your using an aussie ip.
Boost is still the best option if you want wifi calling overseas.
@pandadude: Interesting. What if I connect to local wifi then VPN to an aussie node, then turn on wifi calling? Only issue might be then of the call quality.

I never looked into it further as l just went with Boost as the service fixed a lot of other problems. Also at the time you would still receive sms from Boost if your overseas.
@pandadude: Most phone providers can still receive and send SMS without a roaming package though? I would have thought keep the Vodafone sim card, buy a local sim card when overseas when travelling for more data allowance, put it in a burner phone for hot spotting, then VPN back to Australia to use wifi calling without having to pay for the more expensive international roaming packs?
@pandadude: Oh OK. . Your post seem to imply that only Boost customers receive SMS overseas.
We have had Vodafone services before. Sure Boost or Telstra is best for outside of capital cities, but that really isn't a problem for us so I'm looking for cheaper options compared to Boost.
No free International calls at this price range is a bummer. Vodafone really needs to up their game.

Just confirmed with Vodafone Support that the $250 sim pack is on sale for $150 until the 07/05/2024 and has a default data of 150gb + 90gb bonus data.
After that date, you will be charged $250 for 150gb.
The 150gb default data + bonus 90gb bonus data = 240gb.
However, you have until the 10/11/2024 to activate the sim to receive the bonus 90gb data.
So, to receive the 240gb you will need to:
purchase before the 07/05/2024 & activate before the 10/11/2024.
Hope that clears up any confusion.

I believe you but it's strange that people are saying they bought the WWS one and didn't receive any bonus data. Doesn't make any sense to be honest, surely they are shipping the same prepaid SIMs to all retailers.

Fair warning. Vodafone's service and speeds were terrible in my experience.
< 3 Mbps on most days.
Performance drops even further if you enter the CBD.
Absolute waste of money.
Went with Optus, had a better experience, but it was expensive.
Swapped with Telstra. Fantastic experience and performance, but VERY expensive.
Eventually went to an MVNO that used Telstra's network and it was a happy medium.
Do your research. Grab a 'small' sim to test the experience before committing to the big package like this one. Don't get burned.

reception wise it's been good. not stellar, but good. living in Melbourne, close to CBD. regional coverage, coming from Optus, is very spotty, but Optus obviously had other issues
in the city and the vicinity there are a few blind spots that take you by surprise, but to be honest I remember Optus struggling there too, if not less pronounced

I have consistently found Vodafone 5g unreliable and 4g stable in Gold Coast. Vodafone support blamed Samsung. A safe assumption IMO.

You should try Perth Hills. Most people just stick with Telstra or Boost.
