I don't have any EPOMAKERS, so I don't know if this is a good deal. I also don't think I have a keyboard with yellow switches.

I really shouldn't be wasting money on this obsolete device (membrane is superior because it's newer tech) that funds the CCP's nuclear arsenal, I have a mortgage and kids to feed. These sales tap into the obsessive nature of mech keyboard fans and rip us for every last cent, with multiple models that are essentially the same but with different switches and caps. I almost added some pre-lubed Mint linear switches until I saw that they were pink (too girly!) and I like to lube things up myself. It almost feels like I'm in a cult with the trippy rainbow lights (super gay btw) and the melodic notes of each keystroke.

Limited time deal so the FOMO is real!

Also got these keycaps with 5% off because I like green which is a masculine colour.

Edit: I ultimately decided to pay $127.99 for the one with Gateron Pro Black switches, and got the AquaShift 149 Keys PBT Keycaps instead of the SereniTea set which reminded me of trees. So I ended up paying $80 more but at least my KB ain't woke. I'm already broke from oat milk lattes and smashed avos, and don't want to get broker… er.

Dude you need to stop buying random shit!!

    • +14

I can buy whatever I want

Coincidentally pulled out my old TH80 to type on earlier today, using it now. My thoughts:

    • Epomaker has a s****y history with customer service and bad-quality products. The numerous complaints are justified.
    • My Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz modes never worked
    • Sound is mediocre, as are modding capabilities
    • Ok build quality and feature-set for what you pay for (full plastic case), hotswap, knob and RGB is nice I guess?
    • Software is meh, does the job

I would personally recommend spending a bit more for a Monsgeek or Keychron board.

This isn't terrible value considering you're getting a full keyboard and all, but I'd personally steer clear from Epomaker products moving forward.

I'm currently repling to you on a Keychron. Will look into Monsgeek

Thanks for the heads up, if it's not up to scratch, I'll return it.

    • I just did a quick Google. I already have an Akko PC98B Plus, would a Monsgeek be like a side-grade, or is it significantly better than my Akko?

      • +2

Nah, not significantly better but it (the Monsgeek M1 or M1W) will have a softer, slightly bouncier typing experience (gasket mount) and it is full aluminium so will sound better and feel much higher quality.

If you don't see reason to upgrade, then don't! Your current board is already 90% of what the M1 is in terms of overall experience imo.

I have an RK61 Pro which has an aluminium frame, but not sure about gasket mount. I'll keep doing research and try to find a good deal for a Monsgeek. Thanks again

          • @rosebank: Basically anything with RK in the model name isn't going to have gasket mount I believe.

Their newer models you can see on Amazon will though, although I'd keep my mind open and look at other vendors as well. (R75, M75 etc.)

I feel like Monsgeek are taking international customers for a ride with their margins though. Unfortunately the lack of QMK on any of the Chinese models and the price of shipping proxy erodes the price difference to the point that the software differences would make you feel bad. (Unless you were in China and returned with said keyboard but that's a whole other problem burger)

Oh well, as long as it's not a GMMK.

            • @Namidairo: I'm going to China on Friday. What should I get?

              • +1

                @rosebank: All the things?

I don't know what someone that has multiple boards in boxes wants at this point?

Probably just look at the Monsgeek/Keychron official accounts on Taobao/Tmall/JD/etc and cry at the pricing differences. Or look at some nice mice as well.

I am on a keychron K8 and the BT has been good. I swap between BT for laptop and wired for desktop at the flick of a switch, so it saves me swapping keyboards. However my Ducky sounds and feels better for typing, but without features. Still looking for that perfect KB.

      • +1

Keychron's Q series will sound and feel better, maybe give one a go?

Still looking for that perfect KB.

        Ah, a pipedream at best!

    Home/end keys > Page up/page down keys.

Also no idea why brands put 3 keys on the right when they should be able to fit 4.

    • +2

Yeah I see akko / Monsgeek correctly put 4 keys while keychron and others put 3 75%. Makes no sense to waste the space. Wooting 80HE also 4 keys but wasted on 80% size.

What they put on the keys doesn't really matter because you can usually reassign keys in software.

Really good price imo. Not sure about this model but I own an Epomaker GK96S. The Bluetooth works and the keyboard feels pretty sturdy. Only complaint is that the 2 legs/stand broke off very early on. Stabilizers are decent and you can't go wrong with Gateron Yellow and PBT keycaps, which are part of this deal.

  • +2

They are decent keyboard, but the USB connection feels flimsy and likely to be the first thing to break. Look at your phone's USB charging port. It's held in place with the phones case. The EPO USB port for me was floating, the solder will one day loosen then break away from the daughterboard all together.

    • 100% as i got one like this and the damn usb connection didnt work after a few days/weeks, it does not hold up well as it is a point of failure, so now i got so cheapo officeworks wired mechanical keyboard for a Fixed connection.

  • +1

    Decent for the price

  • +1

I have 2 of these and both have failed. Using a Monsgeek M1 now. Cabled, but more reliable.

  • +1

I bought the 8bitdo retro keyboard from the recent deal, and man it blows my previous keyboard away. Previous was Akko 3068B which I got for a similar price as this Epomaker kb, and I think is from the same manufacturer? Akko was so clacky, very plasticky and hollow feel, even after I hand lubed the switches (which did actually improve the sound). 8bitdo is softly clicky, and typing is a breeze.

  • +1

I own this and it's great.

  • +1

bluetooth wireless mode sucks because it isn't always on. it goes to sleep and then you need to hit a key for it to wake back up again

    • I cancelled the order. I have too many KBs that are still in their boxes

  • Great price bought one thanks op
