Cheap As Chips: 8pc Chicken, 6 Nuggets, 4 Large Sides, 2 Sauces $24.95 ~ $27.95 (Varies by Location) @ KFC (App/Online Required)

Not as good as it used to be a few years ago i.e 2019 for $20.95.
But still not a bad option, if you are feeling like having KFC anyways…

Agree as best value meal for small family on the menu. My sides selections are

    1. Large chips
    2. Large coleslaw
    3. Large mash and gravy
    4. Large drink

To maximise variety and make it a true meal. Can also swap for bread rolls if you want more carbs.

Don’t you have drinks in your fridge?

      • +14

what if you're soloing this meal in the work ute?

      • Agreed, rookie mistake.

      • LOL so much feedback about not getting drinks!

And no, I don't have soft drinks in the house/fridge. Hence why I get the drink. Each to their own.

    • +38

Never ever ever take a bottle of drink I can get from Cole’s on special for $1.50

        +1 spoken like a true ozb'er! :)

Put it in the freezer first and walk around. Then come back when it's chilled.

        • +1

We used to get a cup of ice from the Kmart cafe and a home brand 2 litre for the bus. LTD

    • +6

      Skip the Coleslaw

    • +8

Horrible combo. 3 of the selections need to atleast be chips

    • +1

Large drink is a rip, just get something from the supermarket.

  • +10

    Well in FY2019, $20.95 is $24.46 in FY2023 :) https://www.rba.gov.au/calculator/annualDecimal.html

Still an incredible deal and best value for a small family or a few friends

  • +2

Damn they increased the price $3 since a couple of months ago?

    • +2

14.31 %, which is way above pay rise rates.

      • Its Australia, everything is above pay rates. Starts with housing so why is it surprising. Go to Dubai or one of those arab countries if you want good pay.

        • +3

He better be white with a master’s degree, otherwise it doesn’t get much better than Australia mate.

          • @Ridiculous Panda: Whilst our pay is good, we also spend all of it to have a roof over our heads.
Australia's housing to income ratio is nowhere near the worst, we're much better than other "desirable" countries like Canada and NZ, but it's really still very high.
That ratio is much better in the UAE. Not for everyone as the climate suits people from Qld more than people from Vic, but there very good reasons why so many people from the UK change home countries to that part of the world.

            • @fuzor: You can’t be serious? In UAE specifically, you can’t own anything unless you are a citizen which is impossible if you weren’t born a citizen.

If you earning an average income (receptionist, cashier, bank teller.. etc) then you won’t earn enough to rent a simple apartment for your family. Families there normally share apartments and that would normally cost you close to 40% of your income for a room.

Now, if you are a tradie any UAE (plumber, carpenter , tiler etc) then you are at the bottom of the barrel anc can’t afford to have your kids with you.. you’ll have to share your room with a few other guys in bunk beds.

This was the case at least until 10 years ago. I am not so sure if it is better or worse now but I can’t imagine it would be better than Australia (except Sydney) today.

                • @fuzor: That is probably because only locals are allowed to buy properties (with land not apartments) and locals are paid very well and the government heavily subsidies their first home.
Anyway, I’ve lived in Abu Dhabi for 15 years and had friends from many countries with all kind of jobs/income not talking out of arse or depending on random sources. But yeah KFC was actually better there!

    • Expensive as chips, since chips are no longer cheap.

  • +4

It was $19.95 at its lowest. Sydney.

I like to get Pepsi Max, Chips, P&G and just Gravy.

Toss the chips, nuggets and gravy into a bowl. Drizzle some hot sauce. You got a snack pack.

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

    • +6

No, it used to be $18.95 in Sydney back in 2017/2018 =D

      • +1

And you could swap the chicken for tenders for free

        • +1

Why the (profanity) would you ever do that?

          • @cakesyy: Half the chicken bits are usually terrible. At least with tenders you know they are all good

    • +9

Man, pepsi max goes so well with kfc, haven't had a better combination than that!

    • +2

I need to find a way to get good cheese curds and make KFC poutine.

Personally I go with dipping chips into the potato and gravy, because it just feels like unholy carb on carb action.

      • Used to love their satay sauce with their chips. Stupid Ana-Flanders-axis kids.

    • +2

Used to be the GOAT solo meal when you wanted to get completely filled up. Now it’s not really worth it

  • +2

Cheap as chips used to be 10 drumsticks for $10

  • It's showing $25.95 for me

    • Same here.

  • +2

exchanging pieces to tenders now also incurs 0.50c charge per piece

    • Sadly it’s been like this for a long time now

  • +6

Been ordering this for months, didnt know this was counted as a deal…isnt this normal price and always available on the app?

    • +2

That's what I thought… been ordering this for ages.

      • +2

Yup, and it was cheaper. The trick is knowing which shops have hot & spicy permanently.

        Appears to just be:
        Artarmon
        Broadway 857-859 George St
        Haymarket
485 George St (corner Bathurst St)
        Chatswood Interchange

Sadly, some stores don't do it anymore :(

        • Out of that list, I thought only the 485 George St/Bathurst St had it permanently (and could also be ordered via app too).

Fun fact: they're open for delivery on Christmas day which meant our Christmas feast was hot and spicy!

          • @jace88: Dulwich Hill 100% had it year round. Apparently it's only been a recent removal :(

I've had it at Artarmon and Broadway before and the app is still showing it as an option though Artarmon is appearing as closed for some reason.

        • Laughs in WA.

    • Agreed, bit of a grey area in terms of being a 'deal', but some people really want those internet/ozbargain points.

  • +2

    $27.95 at my local

  • +3

    OzRRP

  • +1

I'm a fan of this deal in the city where I can get Hot & Spicy but as mentioned by some others, I thought this is a long running deal.

  • Truely amazing value wow

  • $27.95.

  • +1

It seems as if, it's due to the difference in price.

Long Running vs Promotion.. If it appears under Promos it is likely to be $24.95. and as a regular / long running menu item, it will be at a higher price than that as a few of our members have mentioned above.

  • Arguably not a good deal as it has been cheaper in the past, AND it was previously $26 delivered at one point. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/756133

  • +1

    $25.95 in QLD

    • +1

Varies on store. $27.95 from all my local QLD stores

  • +2

    enjoy the deal, fatties

    • You can enjoy it as long as you work hard during the day, lazy (profanity).

      • I work too smart to work hard :(

  • +4

been ordering this for at least a decade, back when it was on the back of a shop-a-docket.

    Edit:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/91300

Wow considering it's been over 10 years, the fact that it's only gone up 5 bucks is actually pretty amazing.

  • Damn, snack pack is gone, was gonna go today but CBF anymore :/

  • +1

    My favourite KFC deal

  • 8pc Chicken for 24.95 with all those extras doesn't seem better than the KFC hack where its $7.95 for 4pc

    • +3

4 large sides and nuggets for $9 is good if you don’t want to just be chewing chicken all night like a fox.

    • +1

Wait. What. 8 Pieces, plus nugs and 2 large chips and coleslaw and a drink. It's good value.

  • +1

Well and truly best deal available. I get cranky at the wife cause she just rolls through the drive through and tells them what she wants like we're rich or something. I, on the other hand, am all app creative and save half the price.

    • Cardinal sin!

Thou shall never do à la carte at a fast food restaurant.

  • Here in QLD I get hot and spicy at every KFC I have been in the State. I thought every KFC offers it. Feeling sad for the people who have to hunt it down. Without hot and spicy I would never go to KFC. I cant get KFC on Christmas day though like someone mentioned above in Sydney.

    • Well they don't have it in Queen st mall.

      • They have hot and spicy every time I have been there.

  • Do they give you runty pieces when you order with discounts or is it just luck of the drawer?

    • Luck of draw and how long the batch has sat around. When I see the kitchen thru the drive thru window I don't believe they have the luxury to pick and choose each box.

  • Thanks for sharing. Had no idea about this. Nice cheap take away treat for kids.

  • got this the other night for a small family of 3.
with the chip boxes reduced in size and only half full.. and the chicken pcs the size of pigeons, we were left still hungry.

    • Give them the feedback. The store manager that process feedback might give you some freebies.

      • +2

Complain through their website and within minutes you will get an email with a voucher for the entire meal to be used within 2 months (you have to show the email in store which is annoying). This was my complaint a couple of months ago:

        Complaint - Accuracy
I ordered the Cheap as Chips meal which comes with 8 pieces of chicken. I modified it to be 4 original and 4 hot and spicy. When I got home 15 minutes later I opened the box and I had received 2 pieces of original and 2 pieces of hot and spicy - 4 pieces of chicken in total instead of 8. I checked my calculator and 2 + 2 doesn't equal 8. I also asked a friend and they said 4 is not the same as 8. My family is still hungry. And angry. They are hangry. Also didn't get the correct sauces, but nobody in the history of time ever has from KFC.

        • A little bit of humour goes a long way it seems.

  • The 6x rod and 6x hot & spicy through the add on hack are the real deal.
