Where Is The Best Place to Buy Mobile Phones? Mainly Looking at Samsung Galaxy S23

Hi,

My old S20 looks like it may not see the year out, so I need to replace it soon, I'm looking at just upgrading and staying with what I've got. I want to buy outright to keep my contract at its current level.

I just have a few questions. If I look at a refurbished model, what would it be worth verses a brand new one?

Also, when it comes to buying refurbished what are some of the better places to look.

Thanks.

How long is a piece of string?

eBay, there's at least some level of buyer protection and quite a few sellers offer 12 or 24 month warranties. eBay almost always has some promos going on anyway so prices are decent.

Usually the best time is when the new models come out, and the 2nd hand market gets flooded with people upgrading (especially those that get the EPP discount vouchers)

    • Or within months of the new model coming out, there's always a form of "fire sale" for that new model

This was how I bought mine. $749 for an S23 around 6 weeks after launch

      • Samsung in general, don’t really hold their value particularly well. Wonder if it’s because the market gets flooded with EPP discount purchasers?

  • I just bought a new phone through JB Hi-Fi. I did the online chat and asked for a price match. They ended up beating the price match. It's always worth asking. It defiantly pays to shop around to get the best price.

    • Price match with who ?

      • They price matched:

        https://www.mobileciti.com.au/

When I was in JB the guy said they will price match Amazon now as long as you are buying the product direct from Amazon and not a third-party supplier.

  • buy it whenever there is discount on refurb phones in ebay.
Just few days ago there was 22% off for ebay plus and 20% for non ebay member.

17% off is still kicking around.

greedgadgets have always been good for my many purchases.

Refurb gets you 1 year warranty and 30 days peace of mind. If you dont like it you can have full refund.

    • Yeah, I was looking at refurb. I have checked eBay but its not as cheap as the place I was looking in to.

  • Ebay from personal seller (not registered store) usually has good price for preowned phone. Just make sure you get the right one. What's your budget or price range that you're looking at?
