cute
Good little fan and good price. Bur what case have you got rhat can only take 80mm fans?
Dell Optiplex SFF.
I have them in my server chassis.
lian li 011 dynamic has a spot for a 80mm fan for the HDD bay. i have 4 ssd in 3.5" to 2x2.5" adapters and the fan keeps them cool
Basically anything 1U.
Servers, network equipment.
Sadly not all of them come with PWM headers but you can get a small controller with temp sensor for that.
What do people use to power rack fans? I have a wallmount server rack cabinet with a single 120mm fan bracket on the top. At the moment I have a Noctua USB-powered fan and just connect it to a spare USB port on my NVR, but I would like a neater solution with it's own power supply. Temperature controlled speed would also be nice.
1U? Huh? 1 rack unit is about 38mm or 40mm high. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/386932340490
How would an 80mm fan fit in a 1U rack?
Even horizontally, there wouldn't be enough space to actually route the airflow around the fanTime Lord bigger on the inside technology.
Or you know, I fat fingered the number.
Correct.
But I sometimes make holes on the top panel and mount a fan externally during desperate urgent times when it's hard to source a good 1U fan. I dont recommend this unless you know the airflow path. Making a hole changes the airflow may result in some parts not getting enough airflow.
For my rack mount server case
I remember the good old days (early 2000s), when 80mm was the standard size for PC desktop case fans. And even the motherboard chipsets had tiny (and whiny) 40mm fans. I frequently visited https://silentpcreview.com/
Silverstone rm44, rack mounted
fan like this is exact what you need sometimes for those random projects……..like cooling your router with limited space…. extra cooling for your PCH……or the m.2 that doesnt gets a active cooling.
works the best with a 3D printed custom brackets !! xD
Good idea but isnt it cheaper with other brands?
Noctua are among the most reliable, with good performance and noise as well as longevity.
Sometimes it's worth forking out an extra few dollars for quality so your hardware doesn't overheat.
For a few dollars extra, I don't think you get much difference. The look is good yes. I was chasing one for PC but the price is just never down. So, I ended up with another brand to save about $100.
You can get much cheaper from other brands. But if you want the quietest (and I mean distinctly quietest) and the best reliability…there isn't really anything better than noctua.
IV tried other brands that claim to have similar or better db, ( such as be quiet, arctic etc) and what I found is for most of them they worked great, but over time they get louder, some even develop a slight rattle. Whilst noctuas I bought 5+ years ago are working like they did brand new.
IV spent so much money on PC fans, now I dont risk it, now I just pay the noctua premium and end it at that.
I'm running a home lab, with the rack being in my study ( about 2m away from where I work), every db counts.
This guy fans
Noctua fan blade design is different from cheaper brands.
Having said that, you dont need special fans for general purpose computing, Noctua is for flexing your empty wallets.

https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/noctua-nf-a8-flx-case-fa…Good find, but that is the FLX variant instead of PWM.
ahh true!!! good pickup!! ty
It has the aesthetic of a 1940s suitcase.
Maxibon copies.
Same here bought couple spares whilst they are cheap, not that any of the 30 ive got installed over 5 servers has failed in 5yrs.
Bought two. Just keeping them around becauses always a good use especially replacing the dying 80mm ones on a cheap office computer to get rid of that sound.
In Noctua I trust
This is the way; 5v goodness and comes with USB adaptor.

https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/noctua-nf-a4x10-5v-pwm/p…Thank you good sir.
Picked up some a4x20 PWM which was also smiliarly priced.
Have two of them, chuck them on the back of my laptop and one on the dock to keep them cool
still quite an expensive fan man!
I love how oddly specific some of these deals are……
Do you own a 1970 model Chevy and the left bolt type x712 is broken on a the carburetor? Well this replacement bolt is $5 off! 😂
It looks edible.
