Ok, back again with some more…..music (that's debatable I'm told).

Here we have the once mighty Kyuss, with their album Welcome to Sky Valley on vinyl for under $50.
I've had a look around and it doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere else except Amazon AU for 23 cents more and only 4 copies in stock. Go for the local stock if you wish so you don't have to wait for it to come from Amazon US.

For the uninitiated, Queens of the Stone age is what rose from the ashes once Kyuss imploded and came to their bitter end in 1995.

Enjoi….

Edit : Updated the link to go to the Amazon US price where it's showing "In Stock"

Hey Mods, I guess this doesn't belong in the "Insufficient Quantity Deals 2024" general discussion now.

Kyuss was hugely influential in late 90s early 00s and still are revered by many. Kyuss was definately the sum of its parts and every band member had their unique style and have gone on to separately release new material which highlights what they brought to Kyuss.

    • What a shame at the end 2010 when John, Nick and Brandt reformed the band under the name "Kyuss Lives", Josh and Scott had to sue in 2011 and couldn't reunite with the other members and have a little fun.

saw Kyuss Lives at Soundwave some years ago while all that was going down, think it was just before they were forced to record under a different name - Vista Chino - put out a pretty good album in 'Peace' too…turns out they didnt really need Josh!

        • Nice one, at least you got to hear some Kyuss live. Yeah I listened to Peace a while back and will be revisiting it again after you reminded me of it, thanks. Shame about all the litigation with Josh and yes, they got an album without him.

+1 for the band, album and OP effort/taste in music…not so much the exorbitant price of LP's these days…i have all Kyuss (and QUOTSA (and Vista Chino and even Them Crooked Vultures)) CD's…cant imagaine any better sound on vinyl?

The act of telling people that you own it on vinyl makes it sound better.

      Great band though.

Much appreciated and yes, the price of records is ridiculous these days, hence my posts so people don't have to get slugged $60-$70 for one record.

My copies of Sky Valley and Blues for the Red Sun are good, but my copy of And the Circus Leaves Town, which I got at a decent price, has it's vocals mixed a bit low. I knew this going in thanks to reviewers on Discogs so I wasn't bothered by it, just have to turn it up a little louder which I don't mind doing at all👍🏻.

  • No information on what pressing it is - not worth the rolling the dice unfortunately, as much as I'd like to.

After looking at Discogs, the last time it had a official reissue/repress was 2021, so if I hadto hazard a guess I’d say it’s the 2021 reissue/repress.

First saw Kyuss when they opened for Metallica in 1992. Have loved them ever since.

  • To be clear you are the one telling us what is or is not 'real' music. I believe that is the source of much of the objections, not vice versa.

BTW keep the vinyl bargains coming, I find those useful!

No not telling anyone anything anymore after my PJ Harvey post, the comment section was hilarious and very sad at the same time, especially when you take all the downvoting into account, not that I ever bother downvoting, If I see a post I don't like, I'll generally comment on it because a downvote is just pure, anonymous, cowardice….

An absolute classic album. Phenomenal band! Saw kyuss Lives twice and Brant Bjork, Qotsa all a few times. John Garcia has some very catchy riffs on his solo albums as well as his work with Unida ,Slowburn and Hermano!! Check em out…

  • Great to see the steadily improving quality of the vinyl deals.

Started at the bottom sludge of the barrel with Ms Swift and steadily improved up to the lofty heights of PJ Harvey and Kyuss

  • I've wanted this one for a while. Love the album but the bad reviews on discogs keep me at bay

  • I keep hearing everyone complaining about vinyl prices. How much were they 5 years ago?

I'm new to collecting them and yes it's expensive but my collection is already worth alot to me. Whether it's me going through and picking something that suits my mood at the time. Or putting something on when I have friends over. I see them as something I will have for a lifetime.

I also find it much better to keep track of my music. Steaming services are great but I struggle to keep track of music I like. I find my listening to be more fleeting. I wish I could go back to some hard drives and go through my old iTunes libraries. Now I'm building a collection thats on the shelf in front of me .

    • dump your old itunes music files into plex, its free and it makes for a far better digital approximation of picking and playing something
