So, I managed to pick up an old portable SPLIT SYSTEM air conditioner, Mistral brand. Yes folks, that is not a typo, it is a genuine split system with a condenser separate to the evaporator, connected by copper refrigerant tubing. It is possibly the holy grail of portable AC's, and they don't sell this type anymore.
Unfortunately the system must have sprung a leak and lost it's refrigerant. I bought it second-hand in non-working order. The compressor and fan etc all seem to work fine, it's just not cooling.
I'd really like to bring this back to life before summer hits us. Can anyone recommend someone in the Melbourne (city) area who could test and re-gas this?
