[Unobtainable] MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Ventus 3X 12GB OC Graphics Card $1003 Delivered @ Amazon AU

Moved to Forum: Original Link
Reason: Amazon Listing error. Customers who purchased this listing received a RTX 4060Ti

Getting closer to that elusive sub-$1000 price.

Would personally go for this over a similarly priced 4070 Super.

Kinda surprised there's still stock of the original Ti model floating around. Goes to show that Nvidia are really struggling to shift inventory in this post-Ethereum-mining market.

So which one is better, 4070s or 4070ti?

    • +6

4070 Ti has more CUDA cores (7680) vs 7168 in the Super

Overall benchmark sites suggest the Ti is between 5-10% faster than the Super. The coolers are generally higher quality too (as the Ti was meant to be an upper midrange card and the 4070 more of a mid-ranger - as absurd as that sounds for ~$1000AUD).

      • some of my workflows benefit from cuda cores so i ended up going the Ti (TUF model though)

      • +1

        This pricing is ridiculous!

      • -1

        9090 Ti is the best.

    • +8

From slowest to the fastest. The easiest way is to use the abbreviation method, S is before T (so T being later in the alphabet is better).

Abbreviation Description TechPower Relative Performance Rating
      4070 4070 100%
      4070S 4070 Super 116%
      4070T 4070 Ti 124%
      4070TS 4070 Ti Super (16GB VRAM) 136%
      • I also found that 7900GRE is cheaper. How if we add it to the comparison?

        • +7

7900GRE sits just above the 4070 Super on the TechPowerUp ratings list - but remember you won't get DLSS with the AMD card, nor is their ray tracing performance within the ballpark.

(Disclaimer: I run a 6900 XT in my main rig and won't be buying this deal, but I accept that some people do care about DLSS and RT).

          • @xyron: I just need a graphics card optimized for playing Diablo IV at 4K resolution LOL

        • +5

Using purely TechPowerUp relative performance data:

Abbreviation Description TechPowerUp Relative Performance Rating
          4070 4070 100%
          4070S 4070 Super 116%
          7900GRE RX 7900 GRE (16GB VRAM) 118%
          4070T 4070 Ti 124%
          4070TS 4070 Ti Super (16GB VRAM) 136%

Note: please do your own research and double check. Obviously, that's not ray tracing performance. There is also FSR 3.1 (apparently has improved a lot) vs DLSS.

    It's already been sub 1k - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/841317

    • +3

Ah, there you go. Still, the best deal is the one you can get without the benefit of a Delorean.

      • Yeah, but also there's a comment on that deal that the fan scrapes cover at low fan speeds. Definitely don't want that. So if this card doesn't face the same issue then I'd pay the diff.

        • +2

I think overall the Ventus card seems to have been reviewed better than the low-end Gigabyte cards, but at the end of the day, this is also the low-end MSI model, so I wouldn't expect miracles.

One nice thing about this model is that it's just over 30cm long - I find the 32-33cm models really struggle for fitment in some smaller cases.

          • @xyron: This - I have the 4070ti Ventus in my mini-ITX case and it barely fits. A longer card would be a nightmare to install.

          • @xyron: Yeah I have had zero issues with my MSI 2060S ventus OC (or whatever it is with 2 fans, solid brand).

I should upgrade sometime (but really don't need to and have 2k monitors) but good it's at the target price of $1k.

Would be a very tight fit in the meshify C, maybe 7mm to spare.

        • Anecdotal, but myself and mates have only had bad luck with Gigabyte cards, I had a 3070 and he had a 2080ti and both had issues. Switched to other brands and had no issues.

or maybe Amazon still hasn't fixed the issue with this ASIN and these will turn out to be 4060 Ti's again?

  • +14

This is a listing error that Amazon still haven't fixed, they will definitely send out a 4060 Ti as per the other thread. Downvote for visibility.

    • +3

I think it is right this time as the listing now says "Style Name: RTX 4070 Ti VENTUS 3X E 12G OC" whereas before it said 4060 Ti (hence the confusion). But I accept that there remains a risk given what happened last time. Take screenshots before committing!

      • +3

whereas before it said 4060 Ti (hence the confusion)

You must be confused. It never said anything about a 4060 Ti.

    • +6

Yep I bought this in Jan when it was about $945, and they sent a white 4060 Ti. I returned it, and had several conversations with customer service people and they were saying things like "thanks for letting us know, we'll withdraw the listing and make sure it all gets fixed" so it's interesting that it's reappeared - and at a higher price. If you're willing to lend Amazon a grand for a month or so, go for it. If you'd rather actually buy a 4070 Ti video card, look elsewhere.

they will definitely send out a 4060 Ti as per the other thread

Which other thread is that? Link?

[update] looks like it was this one, if anyone else is interested in seeing the responses:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/825346

    • From the manufacturer section has picture marketing for MSI prestige 16 evo pro A13M

    • I had three separate orders, and recieved a 4060 each time, and returned all of them.

That being said, it does appear as though Amazon has address the supplier issue, if you see the reviews for this listing, there is one review as of the 8th Apr from Australia.

  • With frame generation and DLSS on 4k it plays games around 80-90fps on max graphical settingd and set to Balanced on my C1 which is really impressive and still plenty of VRAM for games like TLOU Part 1 and HWF

  • Is this worthn upgrading from a 3070ti?

I was going to grab a 4080 Ti but this is nearly $700 cheaper

    • +2

You may as well wait for the 5000 series.

    • +1

4080 ti is unlikely to ever be released.. 5080 will come end of this year

I recently picked up the Galax unit from Centrecom - came from a 4070 as that wasn’t really cutting it - and I’m pretty happy with it.

I had a 6900xt before that too (which I rmad due to heat problems). Would’ve been happy to continue on with amd but wanted to muck around with stable diffusion.

Between this and the 7900gre I’d still go the 4070ti but that’s for my use case - I’d have been happy with either card and price would’ve won out most likely

    • How much was the Galax 4070 Ti?

      • 999 - was a recent Centrecom sale.

  • I have a 3060 ti, should i upgrade to this, wait or get a 4070 ti super, I have a 4k monitor now but not looking to do anything toooo extrememe

    • get 4070Ts later under $1k. But 4k is best with 4080 at least.

  • This or the used 3080ti for 700 in marketplace

    • 3080ti generally an ex mining card. get the 3080s (12gb) instead if you can, its newer also priced cheaply now.

WARNING! There is an error with this listing. If you buy from Amazon, they will ship you a MSI GAMING X SLIM WHITE 4060 TI!!! You will get the wrong GPU and be screwed out of a grand before Amazon processes your return!

  • Still think ill go
for the 4070super of I vote the bullet. For sff
