If you want the black square Casio World TIme AE1200 it's currently $52.20 + Del ($0 Prime/ $59 Spend)

The steel band version is only $6~ more too. Love mine.

Nice, are you going to mod it & upgrade with an aftermarket SS case eventually?

Also recently became aware of SKX case mods.

It has a bit of a following on Watchuseek

Whoah that's cool! I didn't even know that was a mod. I'm not in a position to at the moment but will definitely in the future. I wanna mod my F-91w with a blue LED. Casio are the the Toyota of the watch world imo.

Also I took your advice from years ago to put the nato strap on my AE1200 myself, saving me 10? odd bucks! It's been my daily beater for 5 years now and I wear it everywhere, here's a pic. In the sauna, the sea and to bed it's so comfortable. Absolute workhorse.

          P. S It's funny watching people fuss about with the timer on their phone in the sauna!

      • I’ve been tempted so many times with the metal band one

        • +1

Are there any watches you don't like though?

      • I have the steel band version and the band is absolutely horrible. Weighs about 10 grams and feels super flimsy.

        • It's far from flimsy, it's well reviewed. But to each their own.

          • +1

@Skinnerr: It's literally on my wrist now and feels like cheap rubbish compared to the steel band on my Citizen. The metal has that "aluminium can" feel/sound to it. Watch looks funky but is IMHO a novelty item and not a serious piece of hardware.

Or possibly we are talking about different bands? Is there a different metal band for this watch perhaps?

            • @caitsith01: Where did you buy it from? And which citizen?

              • @Skinnerr: Citizen is a Promaster E168. Nothing fancy but the band feels miles better than the Casio.

Casio I bought via Amazon sale a few days ago, only version of the 1200 that was listed with a steel band (also wrongly listed by Amazon as 'auto' illum which is incorrect)..

    • Looks like its back at $78 unfortunately.

      • +1

        It's back to $52.20 now.

    • Thanks! It arrived today. Nice design.

The strap seems a bit slim and long compared to a DW5600MS-1

  • What battery do these Casio watches use that last for 10 years?

    • +1

CR2025. The 10 year battery life is based on 10 seconds of alarm operation and 1.5 seconds of illumination per day.

      • Thank you!

      • Any idea on how long a CR2025 would last in an analogue watch? Seems every time I go to get a battery replaced in one of my analogue watches, it doesnt seem to run beyond a year. Not sure if they're putting in really cheap watch batteries to get me to come back each year.

  • +3

Bought this in 2015 and still running fine

    • So nearly 10 years which is scary. Is it still the original battery?

      • +1

Yea and its still running , managed to break the band this year and have some scratches from years of rough use but still functional and ticking

  • currently trying to decide whether or not i should refund the $150 gwm5610u I just bought and get this

    aiyah

    • gwm5610u is a really good watch, I think it looks better than this one. If you want the square design and the world time look then the Ae1200 is a better fit for $10-15 more. GBD200 is also excellent with the square design and has a MIP display

    • Where do you buy a M5610U from at $150 in Australia? Everywhere I've looked is over $200.

      • +1

had to get it internationally (tictacarea.com)

they're an authorised casio vendor so I'm not too fussed about legitimacy, but they ship from Spain so it'll take about a month

$160 aud from there (free shipping which is great!)

        • Thanks @penguiniman - Good price, I just bought one, I've always wanted one in that colour scheme, I think that's the best looking colours on a square.

  • I just bought the Casio World TIme AE1200 steel band version which is close to an ATL price, very excited for it. I wanted to get a Casio GBD200 for the square shape but the instinct 2 looked better as a MIP display watch and the smart features and interchangeable watch faces etc. So i was disappointed to not own a square face watch but I'm excited for the AE1200 to fit into my wardrobe.

    • It is a classic

      • Do you own one? and how is it holding up so far?

        • +1

No, but it’s so ridiculously well known and accessible , it’s basically not really even up for discussion how it’s NOT a classic.

        • I've had the copper surround one of the ae1200 for a few years and love it. Been a 2-3yrs now

Few light scratches on the face it you look at it at the wrong angle

          • @daft009: Wish there was a decent all gold version of the ae1200.

  • Good watch.
I like the casio solar bluetooths…
There isn't a bad Casio watch.

  • -1

    Accuracy: ±30 seconds per month.

    Bummer!

    • What are you a time traveller?

      • Seeking for a watch that shows the time, the precise time. Bulova achieve that since … since 1960???

±30 seconds per month is a lot in a 6 or 12 months hike.

  • Great watch, I have been waiting for it to break down so I could justify buying a G-Shock, but its been a long wait of 15 years now, and it still wouldn’t stop.
