I've had this in my Amazon shopping list for a while as I've read some good reviews about them.

I currently have a pair of Shure SE215 and I thought they were pretty good - I bought my first pair back in 2009 and to my untrained ears they sounded great for the price I paid. Bought a replacement pair of SE215s last year and although my ears are still untrained, I thought it didn't sound so good even when I just used it on an old iPod.

I'm definitely no audiophile, I don't have specialised audio equipment, and I don't want to take up that hobby; but I do want a pair of IEMs that is not super expensive but worth the money you pay for. And according to this page (https://crinacle.com/rankings/iems/), the 7Hz Timeless should be pretty good for the money.

Regularly cheaper. Then there's cashback as well.

Continue your research and you'll find there's even better options starting to pop up in that price range.

Next year there will be a flood of xMEMS Cypress TWS IEMs competing at this price too, which will offer phenomenal resolution and ANC.

At the moment I'd be going for Letshuoer S12 Pro, Linsoul EM6L or Truthear Nova for under $250

      • Simgot EM6L, but yeah. Not keen on the Nova really due to issues with Harman IEM reference target.

      • I have the Letshuoer S12 Pro and it sounds like shit; no sub bass, mids over pronounced, highs sound tinny. It's plugged into a FiiO KA3 which is plugged into my phone playing FLACs and streaming. I have a pair of $60 planars that sound way better.

        What am I doing wrong?

Does fitment seem to be an issue? May benefit from a tip change so it couples with the ear canal a bit better.

Be sure to try and test it to confirm it's not faulty.

          • @jasswolf: Thanks for the link; I plugged them straight into my laptop for the test and the hardware is fine. I'm currently using foam tips but will try a bunch of other tips when I get home.

        • Thought the same when I first tried my pair but with the right fitting tips they sound great to me.

      • I've been out of the IEM game for many years and looking at a decent pair in the $100 or so range.

Looking at KZ ZS10 Pro 2s (which seem to have only been released within the last couple of weeks and been well received) or Truthear Hexas.

You can get the KZ ZS10 Pro 2s for ~$75 on Amazon with a 15% discount applied, which seems good. The Truthear Hexas I would lean towards because I like the aesthetic, but they are ~$110.

Would these be decent options, or have you got any other suggestions?

        • Hexa and the Simgot EA500 LM.

    • The crinacle page seem to be very technical with their testing and to be honest, far beyond my understanding. And like I said, I am really using these IEMs for an iPod or any device with a 3.5mm audio jack and plays music so I don't want to be paying more than the $250 mark.

But yes I am keen on knowing what else is out there for that $250 price point that is worth the money. An added bonus for me would be to find something that's also comfortable as the Shure SE215s are very comfortable for me!

AFUL Performer 5, and if you want to go cheaper and invest in TWS IEM options next year, the Simgot EA500 LM.

    • Who knows how much new products utilising xMEMS Cypress will cost. I would assume over the $250 mark since it's new tech and it will probably be a while before the big players ie Sony, Bose etc will adopt the tech

      • 2nd gen xMEMS started at $220, so I'm opting to be hopeful.

Sorry but don't bother posting IEM deals just wait for a jasswolf post

Wow.. good price, these are amazing sounding, and at this price a very good purchase. I found the Letshuoer's way too harsh at the high end, and the Timeless AE more bass but not better quality bass, so at this price for me, if I didnt have them already, would purchase.

  • What are these like compared to KZ PR1, PR2, PR3 series?

TBH, anything is better than SE215.

    • When I did some basic research on good IEM's for around $150 back in 2009, the SE215s had some good reviews - and I was happy with it given I was using the stock earphones packaged with mobile phones before buying the SE215s. But now it seems like there's so much choice for whatever price range you want.

And I don't know if my ears have gotten used to better earbuds and headphones, but listening to the SE215s now, the sound seems muddy and don't sound so nice. I have a pair of Bowers & Wilkins P5 headphones, and the sound coming from those even just playing music on my phone, it sounds so clean and has so much clarity compared to the SE215s.

These are pretty terrible don't buy them. Really bright and dont sound natural. I have them.

Better alternative is simgot ea1000 truthear nova and hbb heyday

  • Has anyone managed to find IEM's with really good isolation? I have se215's for band and I need way more isolation, next to the drummer they need to block much more sound or my ears ring afterwards, do any of the larger body IEM's like ZS10 etc do better at this? Hoping to get something good enough without going full custom molded

  • I've been using the Truthear x Crinacle Zero (Amazon) for a few years now, specifically for gaming mind you and find them brilliant. Bang for your buck at $80.

  • I have a pair of 7hz and do enjoy them heaps. Important to get the right tips on for seal / fitment else you'll run into tone issues like hot treble or lack of bass.

For those that want a really good bang for buck neutral with a slight bass bump, try the 7hz x crinacle zero2s which are 30ish bucks from Amazon. They're pretty amazing bang for buck.
