As these were popular last time they were on sale, start automating your jobs and build browny points this mothers day by:

  1. Automatically warm up your Coffee Machine for that perfect Iced Latte every morning
  2. Automate any night lights or noise machines in a nursery
  3. Automate cycling your lights when on holidays to automatically simulate activity (or your social life)
  4. Notify when appliances are done based on power usage (HAOS required, great for washing/baking machines)

I've found setting a static IP on these units has made them rock solid stable with Homekit/HomeAssistant. For those posting last time, apparently the capacitor issue was fixed in Dec 2022, so these new units have a new supplier for them.

You can combine these with iOS Shortcuts or Hey Google to setup voice commands or set scenes to turn the lights on in the morning or off when you go to bed in the evening. Super handy at saving time during the day.

These work really well, but bear in mind they are BIG.

They can be! For space sensitive installations you can use a double adapter to offset them from a power board if needed.

    • As long as the relay inside is also big that is an advantage.

Note these are super chunky. I was previously using a few to automate dumb downlights before replacing them with smart ones and they worked well, but they are huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge.

  • Tuya based? Looks like it is based on images of the app.

I don't believe so, they use their own MQTT internally back to Meross. There's also a HomeKit version if you want to avoid Tuya.

      • Okay, I have all Tuya based without any other automation (Google Home, Homekit, Alexa etc), I use the Tuya app automation.

I have this version. Less than 1W standby, much less when the relay is off.

But suggest spend the extra $2 each for the Homekit version, even if you don't use Homekit. Then it can work locally, instead of always via a server in China.
Can keep working after Meross goes broke or closes their legacy server.

  • Got a few of the HomeKit versions. Work well. They do seem to fall asleep sometimes (or perhaps my hub does) and are unresponsive for short periods.

I routinely turn my coffee machine on remotely so it's warm when I want to use it - very cool! Also have automatic off in the evening in case I forget myself. Just need to sort out a physical switch for it, which would be a nice addition - I'm thinking Hue Button, when they come back on sale.

  • Have two of these in use currently for timed/voice controlled floor lamps, have been rock solid.

Now desperately looking for something else around the house I might get the smallest bit of convenience from automating/controlling remotely so that I can grab a couple more.

  • Noob question, can they be configured to do repeat schedule, e.g. start a heater for 15 mins each hour

    • Yes. You can set that up in the app.

I wouldn't recommend these. I've had two in the four pack die randomly. Just keeps switching on and off by itself.

  • I use at least a handful of them through the house mainly for energy monitoring. Out of the 6 I have I have replaced 3 already and the 4th one just died on me.
So far the Meross support has been helpful in replacing the faulty units. some of them just become unresponsive, 2 of them just died all together quietly.

I put this in the original post, but if you purchased before December 2022 I'm told that it is due to a faulty capacitor dying that was introduced by a supplier. They have since swapped to a new supplier and apparently this issue is fixed. You could try returning your old devices through Amazon if you purchased from there?

      • yea that would make sense, I just had another look, its actually 4 out of 5 which died, looking at the one which hasn't died its Hardware version 2.5 vs. 6.0 for the replacement units.

"Ver 7.0" on the 4-pack 'HomeKit' box I bought a couple of months back.

  • I received these yesterday and they're much larger than I thought they would be. It blocks the second outlet on a dual GPO…

    • I use a left and/or right double adaptor in sockets. Allows both to be used where needed.

  • How are these vs Tapo ones?

  • Without Homekit, this one cannot be shared individually. You have to give the full account to someone if you want to share the control.

  • Anyone know what other apps these will work with besides the Meross one?

    • Homekit?

      • No Apple here
