Quite comfortable, especially for those with lower back trouble as this reclines backwards unlike similar chairs of this price range.
Was considering buying it at $200 when it first came to dick smith a few months ago, but glad I held back.

May be you'd have been even more glad to have saved yourself $69 if you had posted this deal and got feed back from other ozbargainers before making the purchase.

+3 votesrompastompa on 11/11/2012 - 15:53 ¶I should mention:
I'm in the market of buying a cheap chair to go in a room where I have a desk, and will eventually put a computer in there.. It won't be used often (not a work/study environment).
So back support isn't a real issue, but still want the best/cheapest/quickest/comfiest money could buy… (by money, I mean the least possible expenditure)… :) like most Ozbargainers?

See what MattWilko found, below!

$29
+2 votesWas the back support like that from the beginning or did it deteriorate over time?
This chair for $189 looks similar: http://www.milandirect.com.au/office-furniture/office-chairs...

A reclining position is better than sitting up straight, because when you sit up straight you are still contracting your muscles.
-1 voteDoesn't that depend on what your back problem is?
If it's spinal, I thought upright puts the least stress on the spine, lying down is second, leaning at angle is third and can put the most load on the spine.
But that's from talking with a doctor regarding a spinal operation. (not my operation, someone else's; I just know the doctor)
-1 voterandomnade on 11/11/2012 - 17:05 ¶I have a faux leather chair in my room at my desk. It doesn't recline and isn't high back. When I'm at my computer/studying for long periods it gets pretty uncomfortable and pretty sure it contributes to the back pains I sometimes get in the mornings. I really need to get a new chair -_-

Nothing against you, or what you have heard, but if you do have a back problem i suggest you talk to your OWN doctor and not listen to hearsay from someone else.
I cant find the specific journal i am after but feel free to look up:
Nachemson A - The Lumber Spine - An Orthopedic Challenge:
Spine 1:59 - 71, March 1976http://www.eliteofficesupplies.com.au/furniture/files/ergono...
Yes it is a very old journal but the positions still apply. Lying down places the LEAST stress on the spine.
Without writing an essay, a 'general' rule is that a chair should support the lumbar spine, given these are the largest vertebrae should support the rest of the spine. When the muscles fatigue / you get tired, the chair is there to support your spine to avoid negative postural changes (slumping/slouching).

Hmm … that's a book from 1976
I was talking to a doctor in 2011, regarding care for a relative who had surgery on their spine, while they recovered and why my relative was being kept resting at an incline instead of flat.
I also read articles around 2008 from business magazines where doctors had commented on what position is best.
So, it's probably best for people to consult with their own doctor about their specific problems.
But apart from that, I'm pretty sure a lot of ideas have changed since the 70's.
(eg tonsil removal is no longer considered very beneficial, bed rest after most procedures is no longer assumed to be beneficial)
+4 votesThis chair is fine. Much better than a foam chair as it doesn't sag. My back feels ok after long stretches on the seat. Quite solid overall, should last a very long time. Not perfect as there is a lot of give around the lift mechanism. Gas lift works well. Can't complain. Bought for $99 so this is a significant discount. My advice is try before you buy - probably the best gas lift chair for the price point.
ProspectiveDarkness on 12/11/2012 - 00:12 ¶You should let us know how it turns out. I like the minimalist design of the chair, but it doesn't look terribly comfortable to me, and then there's the aforementioned quality issues, so I'd be interested in your (or anyone else's) feedback.
+1 votenot to take away from the deal or anything but i've had some pretty good luck with finding computer chairs on hardrubbish day. quite a common thing for people to throw out and alot of the time they are thrown out for easily fixable reasons. just a side note if anyone is interested
robbiejuve on 12/11/2012 - 09:34 ¶Like many things, the product suits a particular purpose and its perfectly fine for many people. For my missus who uses the computer for an hour a day max, this is a great deal which I may get, anything more is overkill.
As for me, on the computer 6 hours a day, I have a $300 mesh chair and wouldn't dream of getting anything cheaper.

Actually I'm going to post this comment a little higher up the page.

I bought the mesh one for $69. I thought it was pretty decent when I tried it out in the store. Took it home, assembled it, and it sinks. I'm only 78kg, so it's not cos i'm overweight. The gas-lift mechanism just didn't work properly. I sat on it and it sank. The lever lifts it up, but the chair wouldn't stay at that height, and I wasn't real happy with sitting at the lowest possible setting and I have to say that after sitting on it for more than an hour, my bum was starting to go numb. There's no padding whatsoever. It's comfortable at first, but the longer you sit there, the more uncomfortable it gets.
I guess I must have got a dud, but I wasn't really happy with it anyway, so after a lot of umming and ahhing by the store manager, they gave me my money back.
It's an alright chair for $69, but if you spend all day at the computer, this chair's not for you. The chrome armrests are a tad uncomfortable too. Slippery and they don't stay all clean and shiny for too long after you've rested your arm/elbow on them.
That's just my opinion. You guys may find them more comfortable, and it is a nice looking chair.
