Any G3 deals without any membership?

  • +1

No - G3 has same price as G4 on the LGE website.

  • Hard to decide whether the G4 is actually worth the price decrease or keep holding out for G3 with edu prices

    • At 83" definitely as it is the first 83" that has MLA which significantly increases brightness. At 77" or below is much more debatable.

  • was about to buy the g4 77 inch in vic. now its out of stock :( huhu

    • +3

Every now and then it does out of stock but comes back "in". 3000 postcode seems to work now for G4

      • +2

you are right! Bought 77" G4. thanks mate and OP!

Great price for the G4 83. I have a VIP edu account and paid $7600 last week which I pulled the trigger on as I thought that was a good price.

    • I did the same, but through The Good Guys.

If yours hasn't been delivered it might be possible to cancel and re-order? That's what I'll be trying with TGG tomorrow.

      Great spotting OP

Mine delivered Wednesday, wall mounting installer is coming today. I’m still happy, amazed that I got it that cheap this soon. I’ll just know in 7 years or so to hang on a bit longer next time ;) I’ve been waiting for an 83 with MLA ever since they introduced MLA in to the G3s. I couldn’t wait any longer.

  • How do I get the edu discount? I've signed up with a .edu.au email but prices look the same

    • +1

Make sure you click "become a vip" when you first login with .edu.au account

Then add to cart and the 15% edu coupon will be automatically added

    • Any chance you would let me link my Samsung account to your edu email?

  • 2.1% cashback?

    • CB expressly exclude student prices
SB doesn't but says cannot use unsupported coupon.

Anyway you can always try to see if it sticks

      • Just waiting for someone who tried it and approved

        • just checked my cashrewards account. It is showing in my rewards activity. it tracked $102.21

so total spend is $5,252.02 for 77" G4

          • @changot: Thanks great…

          • +1

@changot: Just because it tracked doesn’t mean it will eventually be approved.

            • @7hil: yup you are right. hopefully it gets approved.

    Damn edu

  • Damn & here I was thinking I got a good deal on the G4 77" for negotiating down to $6,026 delivered.

Sony just gave me a full refund for my 3 year old Sony A80J which had a few major repairs, so I needed something asap & no G3 stock in my area. Actually ended up slightly in front of what I paid 3 years ago for the Sony, so I was stoked.

Gotta stop reading updates on this & just be happy.

    • Haha same as me! Had a Sony 85" which died after 2 years then because the model isn't available anymore Sony asked Harvey Norman to provide a replacement which ended being Samsung. Because TV prices have reduced significantly I got like $2k refund in addition to the replacement Samsung TV.

Now to be replaced by 83" OLED. Loss of 2" will be worth it

      • Wow good to hear stories like this as I often hear how bad Sony are when it comes to honouring out of warranty repair and replacements

        • +1

Sony's call centres in my experience aren't fantastic, but if you push you will get a fair result. My biggest issue was Harvey Norman and the way they palmed me off at every step & that I had to call Sony myself to plead my ACL rights even for a repair.

Ended up getting a return authorisation from Sony & even though I did all the legwork, the guys at Harvey Norman told me they were pissed off Sony did a return authorisation which required getting the refund through Harvey Norman instead of Sony just refunding me directly.

Honestly, once you buy from Harvey Norman they don't seem to want to know you.

    • Where from?

      • Hey offgreen, did you call JB and explain this deal and ask for a better price?

I’d love to know as I’m keen on the G4 for that price and have a bunch of JB gift cards from a previous refund.

          • @OffGreenFX: Thanks for the tip :)
I checked the GG commercial. They don’t have the 83 G4 listed. Only 77 and 55.

I might try calling a few stores tomorrow explaining the deal. If I can get the G4 83 under 7k. That’s a deal.

              • @OffGreenFX: I think you'd talking about my Whirlpool post.

I think you should be able to get that price easy. Probably closer to $6800 and a bonus $200 TGG gift card if you use that latitude deal.

TTG online was also pretty good to deal with, so maybe that's worth a shot? I did a match through them as a sanity check before going into store anyway.

One guy was great about accepting screenshots (at $7600) but when matching this deal another rep was a bit more difficult but did in the end. Maybe a difference to due price, sales quotas, or just personality.

However once I'd bought it did need to be adjusted in store, so keep that in mind.

If you're in SA I had good luck at Gepps Cross.

              • +1

                @OffGreenFX: Thanks for your advice.
Called up. Got the 83” G4 for $6200 with ext warranty from JB Hifi.
Paid with 15% off gift cards. Very happy.

                • @InLaymansTerms: Did you call a local store? Online aren't remotely interested in the LG offer.

                • @InLaymansTerms: Nice! I think that's the best price I've seen anyone hit.

Is that a $6200 sticker price, or the total I'm actual cost once you account for the 15% gift cards?

                  • +2

                    @MrBlueSky: Sticker price + 15% off.

                  • @OffGreenFX: Yeah I’m really happy with the result, thanks to your advice. I had never considered to just call around various stores to get the deal I want.
Shoot me a message, I tried to contact you however it won’t allow it as it says you have an overseas account. So I can’t inbox you.

It was 6200 not including gift card discount.

Curious, why do you have so many TVs? Lol.

I’m replacing my 83” C1 so I would imagine they wouldn’t be too dissimilar in weight.

                    • @InLaymansTerms: Wtf, that's crazy. how did you score such an amazing deal for 83 g4? You totally win Ozbargainer of 2024 so far.

Was it in Victoria? I too would be interested in a PM'd invoice if you have one 🙏

                      • @Ozzuage: To everyone messaging me for my invoice, I apologise I can’t help, I have not received it yet.

I contacted JB and they informed me they don’t issue the invoice until the TV is shipped as the invoice will have the date it’s sent out on it.

I’m not in a capital city so they are estimating June week 1 shipping.

I only have an order ID which I can’t share unfortunately.

  • +2

    55" deal??

    • Yeah no 55-inch OLEDs on sale unfortunately

  • great price for a G4, but I'm on the Bravia 9 camp

  • +1

Thanks, got myself the 83". Wallets going to be feeling it the next couple months.

    • How far are your sofas from the TV?

      • Bit over a couple meters but still have another meter to move the couch before it gets into the walkway.

  • Ordered the 77" G4, thanks OP!

  • I've been resisting and resisting and my wallet and resisting and I caved.

Damn you. Damn me, even more.

  • Thanks OP,

You can price matched with The Good Guys, paired with $200 gift card by putting at least $2000 on Latitude. I had some discounted cards from a previous deal, and made up the difference with the Macquarie gift card marketplace at a small discount. So somewhere in the order of $6400 I think. Alternately you could try cash rewards instead of gift cards, but I think it's weird for price matches.

I previously thought the ~$7600 was a good deal. This is pretty crazy for how new it is in the cycle.

Fortunately/Unfortunately I'd already purchased at $7600 from The Good Guys, but they were able to match the new price because I hadn't had delivery yet. Initially they said no, but otherwise it was going to be a "cancel and reorder immedaitely" situation and they came around. Gepps Cross store in SA were champs all things considered.

    • By latitude you mean a latitude credit card? You put $2000 on it at time of sale and get a $200 gift card that can go towards the remainder of the purchase, is that right?

      • I don't think that's quite how it'll work.

Pay $2000 on a latitude credit card and after the sale they'll give you a $200 gift card.

I don't think it can go towards the sale where it's earned.

  • need opinions. bought the 77” g4 which will be delivered this monday. im moving to my new house in august. im planning not to open it until then. is it a good idea? i can wait and dont want the hassle to put it back in the box.

Im concerned what if it arrived cracked or damaged. im not sure if i can claim warranty once i open it in august.

    • +1

If it was me I'd cancel the order.

I'd imagine the price will probably go down again in August, or at least be similar. Plus it's a big item to store around the house in the meantime.

Also if there was damage after unpacking aren't the store and movers are going to point at each other about who is to blame?

I'm far from an expert though, that's just my opinion.

  • HN online wouldn't budge on price at all. JB online best was $6799.

    • For? Seems like maybe TGG is more flexible based in some comments above to match LGE prices?

I must confess not surprised the shops won't match education portal prices.

      • Sry the 77. InLaymansTerms and MrBlueSky both seemed to have success.

      • I just tried TGG and JB - both wont match once they see its behind a VIP portal

  • +1

For those that dont have a EDU account but know someone who does, get them to send you a screenshot. Got a mate to send me one, went to the Good Guys online chat and attached the screenshot and they matched the $5,354 price for the 77”. Now going to pay using discounted gift cards.

    • Would you be able to PM me a copy?

      • +2

        Sure, check your messages

        • Are you able to send me one as well? I've sent you a PM.

          Thanks in advance

    • Did you mention it was behind a VIP portal with a discount code as well? Mine said no once they saw that.

      • The screenshot does clearly show the discount code to get the extra 15% off but the person on the online chat didn't question me about it.

  • Can you change your email once you've signed up with a .edu? these edu/commercial deals shit on anything else, really want to upgrade this year.

  • -1

Just received my 77" G4 today. I was surprised they also send a separate g4 stand for 77". I thought the stand is only included in 55 and 65 inches. Anyone also received stands for their 77" 83" orders?

  • Could someone help me check if LG projectors are cheaper as well with VIP / Edu? Looking for this:
    https://www.lg.com/au/projectors/lg-hu810pw

    • Edu price only applies to items you can purchase from LG website. This project you can't buy from LG on its website.

  • I am unable to get the VIP discount. I created an edu account, upgraded to VIP, I get the sale and the EDU discount but no VIP discount, anything I need to do to enable this?

edit: it seems it's only applying VIP+EDU, is the discounted price no longer applicable?

edit2: seems just the C4 is now available at the extra discounted price, the G4 doesn't have the extra discount applied

    • The G4 no longer has 10% off - only C4. I should have made the purchase last night. Now tossing up between C4 and S95D.

      • Damn that's unfortunate
