Great price. They've been $20 for 8 for ages at my local Cellarbrations which I thought was a decent price. This will keep me going a while.

  • Can someone compare this to another brand of pale ale please. It's a lot to commit to

    • +2

Currently you can buy a single slab of this beer for about $43 at Vintage Cellars, using their 10% off code SITEWIDE

      • Whereabouts? In Victoria only? I tried a few stores around Sydney but they only seem to have the cider. Quite a frustrating website.

        • Sorry, there's a very good chance this is Vic only, or even stores in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne given Deeds location

  • F it, why not.

If you get it out to me quickly and I like the taste I might even get heaps more!

    • Shipping from Monday. Will likely be sold out by the time you get it.

      • Guess I'll just have to buy other beer then! Cheers for the deal!

Any dark beer deals coming up like the White Rabbit Dark Ale?
    Cheers

Hold thumbs… When we get a deal we share it. ;)

    Great price. Ordered (y)
Hey Rep, are you looking at getting any of the other beers on liquidation from deeds now they are shutting up shop?
DDH pale ales, porters, browns etc/

    • +4

Will get back to you tomorrow. Cheers

Deeds just announced closure and will be having 30% off stock in the coming days. They've been in administration for a few months.

    Another craft brewery down…

    • "Three other brewing companies to enter administration within a fortnight of Deeds – Sydney-based Akasha, Gold Coast-based Black Hops, and Victoria's oldest independent operation, Grand Ridge – remain under the control of administrators."

Ouch. All three are big names in the craft scene, especially Akasha in Sydney who ran a $1.7m Equitese crowdfunding round only 2 years ago https://www.equitise.com/offer/akasha-offer

      • +1

Loads have craft breweries have gone into administration and come out the other side ok. This is the first big name to actually call it a day (as far as I’m aware)

        • Any examples of this?

          • @jshopper: dainton
            bad shepherd
            black hops
            hawkers
            akasha
            wayward

            • @WillisAU: They're examples of other breweries recently going into VA, but you can't say any of them have come out the other side ok yet.

They're all excellent breweries and I'd love for them to be around in future but I just don't see it happening.

              • @jshopper: oh yeah, i guess you cant really say if theyve come out the other side yet, but i believe at least hawkers, bad shepherd and dainton came out of VA stil owning the company.

Black hops on the other hand have some very worrying news recently :\

    • Wow! they made some amazing beers…

Makes this $40 per carton when the sale starts (excluding shipping): https://deedsbrewing.com.au/collections/core-range/products/…

While I totally understand it's the beer excise that's dicking them, it's a really really hard sell if you're flogging a slab of 16 beers for $70. They aren't helping themselves.

I don't care how good or fancy your beers are, $70 for a slab of super high alcohol hoppy DDH IPAs is a hard sell.

And I say this as someone who will regularly drop ~$35 on two or three big fancy craft beer cans.

      • +2

I'm really not sure what you're saying here… you're happy to drop $35 on two or three cans but you won't pay $70 for a slab of 16?

  • +6

    RIP Deeds

These are now technically limited edition. Buy now and resell later for profit, beer stonks!

    • +2

      Sad indeed.

  • +4

    I don't buy anything under 4.6%

    • +12

I used to be like you, then I turned 40. At least it's a 375ml can, and 24 cans in a slab!

    • +1

Waiting for that day that someone flogs their 3.9% ale as full-strength. Won't be far away.

  • Coles currently has 1 slab for $47

    • +5

Its a good thing we are cheaper. ;)

      • +7

And even better you're not Coles

  • +11

Aramex? 50% chance of receiving then

    • Unfortunately no decent courier will post two slabs of beer interstate cheap enough for $85 to be the price.

  • +1

Bargain. Even more so it's not a 16 pack case like most craft breweries now.

  • +5

    You lost me at Aramex.

  • Ordered. Thanks for the great deal with free delivery really appreciate it.
Having a cold beer after these long hard working days really makes a world of difference.

  • Oh no, sold out! Had them in the cart, but needed to go cook dinner and when I finally went to pay they were gone

    • Snooze and lose!

    • Just placed an order 10 seconds ago.

    • Don't think it's sold out yet - just grabbed 2x slabs (NSW)

      • Yeah, how weird - it's now back in stock and I've managed to place the order. Glad I posted here, otherwise I wouldn't have gone back to check!

    • +1

We added more stock an hour ago but almost sold out again.

      • We will update thread if we can secure more. They have been flat out the last 24 hours as they were preparing to break the sad news to everyone.

  • -2

Not sure why all these brewers insisted on going bankrupt by by Colesworth. Cheaper to buy from Liquorland than it is direct from Deeds.

    • +3

From what I understand its not Cole/Woolworths that is the issue its the excise levy, apparently the excise has t be paid upfront as in as soon as the item is bottled/canned/kegged. So scaling up can be hard as you have to pay the tax before you have actaully sold anything.

      • its definitely a factor though - all the supermarket owned sub brands in the best places on the shelves at attractive prices would be driving down sales for the independent craft breweries. Along with the tax issue, and the recent keg issues

  • Can you do 2x Juice Train? One of my faves. Need to stock up I guess.

    • If we have any other deals coming we will definitely post em up. Cheers

  • Thanks,
    I made an order.
    cheers 🍻

  • We will update thread tomorrow if we can secure more stock. Cheers!

    'Shipping exclusively with Aramex Couriers
No PO Boxes or Parcel Connect Lockers accepted'

    Nope. I'm out.

    • That and it is sold out.. but thanks for playing I guess.

  • +1

I loaded up a cart on the Deeds website last night, didn't check out, and they sent me a $10 off voucher ($150 minimum spend) this morning.

  • +2

    Any of these sent today?

    • G'day Everyone,

Unfortunately we missed our scheduled start of despatch yesterday as Deeds had a hectic week last week with the overwhelming support and enquiries on the back of their closure announcement… We are just awaiting stock to land which we expect sometime today (we were expecting it Friday until they were inundated with the announcement it pushed everything back) and once it does the stock will be our first priority to get them out.

Orders will be processed in chronological order and we look forward to getting them to you ASAP.

Thanks for your patience! Sorry we didn't an update out yesterday.

      Cheers

      • +1

        Update:
We are still awaiting this stock, thought we gave enough clearance time when we went live with the delay based on the couriers they use etc. Delays are due to administration processes/volume of orders/enquiries etc.

We will keep this thread updated with news. If this delay is an issue for anyone we completely understand and will offer a full refund if you reply to your order confirmation email requesting this, however if we have processed your order there will be no way of intercepting this so the order is final.

        • Thank you for your transparency :)

        • I haven’t received an order confirmation and going overseas in a week’s time. Can you please message me so you can look up the order and change the delivery address for me if possible? Thank you

    Hi OzBargainers,

Thank you for your recent support for our OzBargain Exclusive of our Double Deal - 2 x Deeds Brewery Pre Game Pale Ale Cans 24 x 375mL - Clearance offer. At the time of offering this deal on OzBargain we had secured 100 slabs which have all being despatched yesterday to the first 50 orders.

We had the expectation based on our communication with the brewery that additional supply should be available, so when the deal went off after 5pm that day we increased the availability of the deal on OB. Unfortunately there was significant demand in the hours preceding their announcement of closure, and the breweries Administrator has managed to secure the sale of the stock we wanted without the deal we had been given on the first batch. So we have not being successful in securing the remaining stock we were planning to get. We received confirmation late last night from the brewery as there was a lot going on at their end and the Administrator has control over their decision making understandably.

So, where that leaves us now… some customers have missed out on the Pre Game deal and we will be in direct contact this morning to all the affected customers.

We do have invoiced to us and/or delivered to us already so we can 100% confidently offer the following deal to the customers affected another double slab deal of 1 x Deeds Draught 4.2% slab of 24 + 1 x slab Deeds Hazy Double Time 4.6% which are 16 can cases, but we will make them 24's so you still get a deal of 48 beers. We are posting this here for full transparency so everyone knows they are also getting the same deal offered. Alternatively we will issue a full refund if preferred.

We know this is not the best situation, we have let those affected down, but we offered the deal with a genuine and confident expectation we could fulfil this for you, it was a dynamic and changing circumstance after their closure announcement. We know we have let those customers affected down and we can only apologise for this.

For those awaiting shipping information still, you are one of the affected customers, so please check your emails throughout today as we begin reaching out to you, and get back to us with your preference of a full refund or the new offer of 1 Slab Deeds Draught (24) + 1 Slab Deeds Hazy Double Time (24) and we will action your preference as soon as possible.

    Thanks,

    WSD

    • Thanks for the update, however I've tried to respond to the email only to get a mailer-daemon error when using your orders email address.

Not sure if it's an issue on my end or yours, but is there any other way to contact you to confirm the new order?

      • PM'd you. Cheers for letting us know, I will investigate that.

    • Thanks - came back to the deal to see where this was at as I received an email saying it's ready for dispatch but the tracking info still says 'not ready for collection'
While I wouldn't have minded 24 Double Times I could have done without the draught so happy I seem to have snuck into the first 100 :)

      • +1

If you need us to assist with tracking let us know in PM's your order number. We have seen some deliveries completed already in Metro Melbourne already.

        • yup, my cases arrived this afternoon, thanks

          • @bigguyoz: That's fantastic Enjoy and thanks for confirming! Cheers

    • Thanks for the update.
After accepting the alternate offer now soon should we see if getting shipped?
