  • +3

I've always enjoyed the taste of the protein powder from MyProtein. They used to have great deals all the time but have been way too expensive the past year or two. Going to try the rebranded pre-workout this time too, ended up being about $26 per tub with the 30% off when you get the twin pack, not too bad!

  • -4

5kg of cronic craps. Beware. Wouldn’t go near it if it was free.

    • Wat

    • I just had a serving post workout and it's been great. No cramps or constipation here.

  • -5

We got a boot full of this for free. All members ended up with stomach cramps and constipation. Wouldn’t go near it.

    • +2

When you get something for free, there's often a reason.

I'm guessing the product had been compromised or otherwise unsaleable / better gifted.

    • +2

Try pea protein or something other than whey, see if that changes anything.

      • Cheers. Will do

  • +2

Think the CB halved from midnight but great value to try a few different things.

Going to blame the fire alarm / evacuation instead of submitting my OzB card.

      • Wait. I was wrong.
It's late. I should be asleep.

  • Thanks for the heads up on this one. I used the referral code for a little extra discount, and tried 4 separate items. Bit of variety, might do some cooking/pancakes with them and see what turns out

  • I never got a welcome $5 for signing up.

    • You get $20 off $70 if you use a referral and an extra 5% off your first order

      • How do I get the $20 off? For referral. I clicked a link above but doesn’t seem to work.

        • When I registered for an account, I copied the referral code in the optional field to receive the $20. I would've assumed clicking a referral code above worked similarly :o

Sorry, but why take a protein powder during a fast? You’re essentially not fasting if you do

    • fart not fast!

    • +1

You’re essentially not fasting if you do

      Does it mean he’s slowing?

    • -4

There are 2 versions of a water fast.
First one is drinking only water for 4 days and allowing your body to detoxify and go into ketosis.

Other version while called water fast allows drinking fluids free of sugar but with protein content like chicken and meat broth etc. This allows your body to go into ketosis but won't fully detoxify as cells get some protein from it and won't activate the cellular self healing properties that starvation causes.

      • +5

        detoxify

        Please name the toxins.

        • -2

It's a whole new science but it's supposed to regulate your blood sugar, rebalance the electrolytes in your blood, activate the immune system to rid the body from diseased cells, rebalance the flora in your GI tract, burn the fat cells via ketosis for energy, etc.

          Has many many benefits

I guess the science behind it is that eating food constantly is not as healthy as we think. For example, we have our food served on a platter. But if you look at our ancestors, they used to hunt for food and sometimes were without food for days and they were healthier and stronger than us.

          • +1

@easternculture: Wondering if you know what the life expectancy was for our ancestors vs now?

            How about child mortality?

People are unhealthy nowadays because they eat cake and chocolates constantly, not from some BS ketosis state of being.

Athletes are the peak of human physique and they don't resort to this detoxifying shit as a way to be on top (don't link me the 1-2 crazies who are well past their prime or never made top 3)

            • -2

@PotatoCakes: If you look at fasting it's a religious practious in many religions to some degree : Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, etc and in a lot of cultures like some regions of Ethiopia

So the science of studying how it affects out bodies is fairly new but I'm seeing some benefit from it so I guess I'll continue. And like everything, not all bodies will tolerate this degree of starvation so YMMV.

I do it mainly to control fat build-up in my body and it's working really well.

If you google, you will find alot of information about fasting that's backed by science

              For example https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/fasting-benefits

              • +2

@easternculture: Yeah, I would never refer to religions for scientific advise….how many practices from these religions are now banned/considered morally reprehensible?

If it works for you, that's fantastic! Fasting isn't evil/terrible practice and if it helps people slim down/become healthier that is great.

What I hate is claiming it detoxifys and using a bunch of scientific sounding phrases to manipulate people.

Intermittent fasting can work as a dieting strategy because it is another form of restricting calories….almost everything else you said is BS

                • -2

                  @PotatoCakes:

almost everything else you said is BS

                  Nah not bullshit

Go to a reputable website for scientific research and do your own research. Not gonna spoon feed you.

If you dont believe religion had scientific basis for religious practices, it's your choice.

But science has already proven alot of practices have had a scientific basis behind them. Again do your own research if this is something that interests you

I fast regularly but to me, consuming protein during a fast doesn’t have any benefits. Studies show that growth hormone is elevated after a few days of fasting, so any muscle mass lost during the fast is quickly regained, if this is your concern. Elimination of weaker muscle cells occur through a process called apoptosis, followed by the regeneration of stronger muscle cells. This regeneration results in the development of more robust and resilient muscle tissue

        • I'm doing a few trial and error with fasting on supplements like clear protein and Creatine

          • @easternculture: Best of luck. I’ve been fasting regularly for 15 years now, did take a little while to find what works for me

            • @antik: I've been fasting too for a long time.
However, extended fasting is new to me and trying to find what's right for me since I train 7 days a week plus 1hr running daily as I would like to keep my training routine

  • +2

Thanks op, purchased 2kg whey isolate and 250g creatine monohydrate which comes down to $64.08 including the $9.95 delivery. These two should last me around 80 days - my first time buying supplements.

good start! all the best 👍

Price is good, reviews on this brand aren't… :(

    • Try True Protein or Bulk Nutrients Natural WPI.

I used to buy true protein, but then they got really expensive, became main stream and Instagram famous. Bulk Nutrients Natural WPI is my go to now. They also provide bulk buying discounts and it’s yum!

      • Thanks yes I used them many times in the past as well as ON gold and dymatize, my favorite but way too expensive.
Was tempted by the recent wpi promo from aminoz but the foam and amount of protein per 100g is not great.

  • Damn, they still dont have unflavored isolate.

Added Impact Whey Isolate - 5kg - Vanilla
