Need a GoPro 12 before Holiday in June

Hey y'all,

As title suggests, I'm off on a lovely holiday in June and need to upgrade from my very very old GoPro 8 to a GoPro 12 before a holiday in June.

Maybe like many OzBargainer's whenever I need to make big purchase I always check previous deals here and set that as my must by price (or I'll feel ripped off 😅). The last great deal was here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/823804
GoPro Hero12 Black $497

What do you think my chances of getting it again at that price before end of June?
Should I wait around or do you think I should forget about that price and just go for the best I can find now?

Thank you for your help in advance! 😁

Could just buy the best price now and don't open it until you leave… If a better price comes along, then buy that and return the original.

If you do open it, once a better price comes along purchase again and return it under the original receipt (unopened).

Maybe pair that with OnePass, I think it gives you a easy returns if it's unopened? Read the fine print though… different stores and items have different rules.

Give them the details of your GoPro 8 here: https://gopro.com/en/au/info/tradeup

    Then go here : https://gopro.com/en/au/shop/cameras/hero12-black/CHDHX-121-…
    ($569 minus the $80 upgrade = $489 total)

Boom, cheaper than the "deal" you linked :P But be quick, less than 3 days before it expires !!

    • Great idea, thank you! 😊

Sorry, when do you need it by again?

Keep an eye on the FB marketplace. Also consider the Hero 11 if thats suitable.
Buying from the marketplace is much cheaper and generally you can sell it again after your holiday for the same (or near same) price.

    • Will definitely keep an eye on marketplace too, thanks for the advice :)

Not sure if you have considered the DJI Action 4 as an alternative. I looked into these two at the end of last year for our holiday and after watching countless reviews, decided to go with the DJI. Seems to be around $150-100 cheaper currently and has a very similar quality to the Go Pro 12 in daylight, but is far superior in any low light setting, and won't overheat if you plan on recording longer videos (5-10 mins+).

    • Thanks for that, I was kinda considering the DJI Action 4 as well and also did a little research and when I looked at side by side videos, it seemed like the gopro looked more vibrant and colourful. Maybe it's all in the eye of the beholder tho!

      • No i think you are spot on with the Go Pro being a bit more vibrant, however i feel like this is also achieved in the editing environment. Go Pro has always done well in very well lit, daytime shots. The quality does seem to diminish as you find shade or the natural light fades at all.

      • The "vibrant and colorful" is the HDR video mode of the GoPro 12 that extends to 4k@60p - the DJI action 4 has a "fake" HDR mode that they claim is "higher dynamic range at the sensor level" (but not real double frame capture for preserving low / high detail) …

  • As a Previous owner of the 12…. the low light is down right trash. Im not talking about night videos. Im talking about indoor videos during the day under artifial light. Un useable.

    • Nutrino- what do you recommend?
