Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 8GB/256GB $865.26 (Requires Discount Codes, Trade-in, 5% off First App Order) @ Samsung Shop App

1310
SSFIVE

This appears to be the one of the lowest prices for the S23 Ultra. Even cheaper than EDU pricing and most likely Samsung EPP. I messed up somewhere on the pricing but this is the best price available. It should be around $950-$1000 price range. I'm sorry for the mess up somewhere in the price. Note tha

The process goes like this.

RRP Price: $1949
35% off code SSFIVE to $1266.85
5% off on First Order Samsung Shop ($63ish) -> $1203.51
$250 Bonus Trade in
$100 Loyalty Code as well

This turns the price into $865.26. Note the discount code and $250 trade in bonus only applies to the standard Samsung store, not EPP or the Education Store.

for that price and being a flagship, its shame on samsung for keeping it low. might be a cheap trick to make users upgrade to bigger storage which has 12gb

  • Samsung EDU is not accepting the promo code

    • SSFIVE is only valid for products listed on their 'Secret Sale' Page from their Public site.

    • +1

Sorry it is meant to be the standard official Samsung store, not the EDU. My fault. The "SSFIVE" discount code is already applied to the EDU pricing already in the form of an already added discount https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/845132. The deal here mostly lies in the $250 trade in code vs the $100 the EDU store is offering. I shall change the description.

  • Hmm this or ~$400 extra for the S24U

    • +2

Personally I'd opt for the S23U and purchase Samsung Care + thing for $280 or purchase the Galaxy Watch 6 40mm/44mm LTE. Only thing worth the extra $400ish is extended OS updates and security.

      • +6

Hmm flat and new anti-reflective screen on the S24U vs curved on the S23U. 12gb vs 8g. Also 7 years of updates vs 4 (3 now) which seems a significant difference. And I guess 5x optical vs 10x and 4k@120fps which aren't that important.

        • That's a fair judgement. To be honest camera's have gotten so good that the S23U would be more than enough for me. 7 Years of updates is amazing. I hardly do anything intensive that would require the extra 4gb of ram. My current phone only has 6gb of ram and it is still chugging along albeit having some issues occasionally. I might have harshly judged the value of the S24U however the S23U is still decent.

Honeslty the best deal in all of this is the S23 base model for like $600ish.

        • +2

Having got the s23U on release, I wouldn't have hesitated to wait until s24U if I knew flat screen was coming. The curved edges are the worst.

While I can't reallt speak to the reflectivenesss of the screen, if you're sensible you're probably going to throw a UV glue screen protector on it and…they are pretty reflective but totally worth it.

          • @Assburg: Is it really that bad? Is it a huge turn off?

            • @NotReallyaMoneySaver: I mean, I'm not a huge phone case guy but have a low profile one for the rare slips…curved edges then awkwardly meeting the start of a case is horrible.

The irony is I probably only need the case because of how much more likely I think a curved screen would crack with even a light drop.

Not a perfect comparison but I stress test dropped my flat screen galaxy S2 many, many years after it became redundant and it was like, a 1.8m drop onto concrete that finally cracked it. My note 20 ultra with curved screen, in a case cracked when it fell from my pocket getting out of a car… it's all speculative but…I resent curved phone screens.

        • I have a S24U. It is not anti-reflective.

  • Lame question, but how to get the 250 off with the trade in?

    • +3

You will need a phone to trade in. They will give you a $250 discount for trading in a phone on top of a discount on the value of the phone. The lowest for the S series is the S8. The S8 is worth $5. Samsung will provide a $255 discount ($250 bonus + $5 for the phone) on your order. You will have to provide Samsung the phone though.

There is also not returning in the phone, not getting the trade in value for the phone and getting charged a fee of $30/$60 but you still get to keep the $250 trade in bonus. Can someone please correct me if I am wrong.

      • legend! could utilise my old s9+ then

        • +1

All good mate! I hope you enjoy the S23U if you do intend to purchase it. About $430 cheaper than the S24U as well.

      • Has anyone ever got a trade in code that says "this trade ID can only be used in store"???

Every time I try to use the trade up app it either doesn't work, get some error, or I get a code that can only be used in store… Trying to use tab S4 which last time wouldn't even get through the trade up process. Previously I had tried with an S22 ultra and also got a trade ID that can only be used in store. So annoying.

        • +1

Don't use the app. Just use the website.

          • +1

@demod: If you go through the website, you won't get the 5% off on first order, so you will be getting a slightly higher cost.

  • +2

The lowest price for a 256gb S23U was under $600.

    • I don't remember seeing it that low (unless you're also factoring the value of bonus and/or trade-in device value).

      • $1 headset

        • Link?

            • @snvl: Ah great deal. Did anyone actually get it for under $600 with the 2x SD cards though? And without trading an actual phone?

              • @CVonC: Many, back then was trading earbuds

                • @snvl: If you didn't end up sending earbuds how much would it have been?

                  • @CVonC: All anyone had to do was buy the cheapest pair of wired earbuds and send them back which was a few $ at most.
If you didnt send anything back, it was a $30 charge but im not sure why anyone wouldnt send something back.

                    • @8azinga: Saw the long comments. It was a fun time for everyone. It’s pity I missed it! Now paying $900+ for S23 ultra.

    • Was that this?

      • +1

No, around October last year. Look in rhe comments for the Fold5 with 2 buds or 2 sd card deals. It wasnt posted as a separate deal.
I think the cheapest was about $588 total for 256GB S23U including 2 type C usb sticks.

  • +1

Don’t forget to get $100 loyalty voucher code via chat. Its quite easy to get.

    • I got a 15% code but it doesn't work with trade in. Is the $100 loyalty voucher different?

    • I was told on the chat there were no "loyalty" vouchers, only extra discount available was the $100 (yes 100) trade in bonus.

      • +2

Try again with another representative. Took me 2 representatives to get a code. Also were you on the Samsung Education store or the standard one. The $100 trade in bonus only applies to the Samsung EDU store where its $250 bonus on the standard.

        • I was on the standard store.

          • @oxblood8: Went to check it out and I was also offered the same thing. Try again with another representative. You'll get there eventually.

    • I've been offered code for a trade in of old device. $100

      • It stacks with the 250 bonus trade in

    • Been waiting over 50 minutes on chat cue now. When I first connected there were 22 customers in ahead of me and it said wait time was 1 min 13 secs. That wait time hasn't changed at all. And now I'm down to 2 customers ahead of me. But still. More than 50 minutes already.

      • +1

What a fukin joke. Just got disconnected now.

        • Hmm I've never had an issue. You received a really shitty support member.

          • @NotReallyaMoneySaver: I didn't even actually get connected to an agent. Was still 2 people ahead of me when it ended.

How long do you usually need to wait in the cue? I tried connecting again but it said 1 min 13 secs wait time again, but this time was loads more than 22 people in the cue. Didn't bother in the end.

    • Just confirming I was told there's no loyalty code, and offered the $100 trade in code, and it stacks with the bonus $250 trade in so you end up with $350 bonus trade in value.

      • You can call it whatever as long as its giving you $100 off.

        • Right… Which is why I was clarifying it given there are comments above suggesting it doesn't work. Thanks for the validation though, it's appreciated.

  • Anything on 512gb model??

    • No sorry! They don't have that model available. You may have to opt for the S24 series or buy the S23U 512gb at JbHiFi or something/

  • Not bad deal, wish had this when i picked up a 2nd hand one ex demo for 750

  • Wife needs a new phone (has an S10 with a slightly-cracked screen, and the battery is knackered) but might wait to see what the 8A is like (and what deals are available) as it's also on the seven-year-update cycle.

    • +1

If you want a deal, the P8A from JBHIFI for $550 + $200 gift card is the best deal. It is a $300 discount through a bonus trade in. If you value android software, 8A is good. If it's cameras or processor, the S23 is better. However the S23 series does not have the 7 year update cycle.

      • Thanks for confirming what I was pretty much thinking as I am reading the 8A JB thread :-)

        • +1

All good! I am also wondering whether I should opt for the S23, S23U or P8a. I ideally would've preferred the S23 Plus but it is unavailable so that's unfortunate.

  • Damn I just bought the base S23 over the weekend through a deal that was posted, wish I'd held off slightly longer as I would have got this instead.

  • It's still amazing that last years "youmake" deal hasn't been topped yet in terms of all time lows for pricing.

  • What happened to the s23 plus model? Not that popular compared to the other two?

    • +1

I would have preferred an S23 Plus as well. Decent size battery while not being as big or heavy as an S23U

    • May have sold out of remaining stock.

  • +1

    Have a S21 Ultra 12GB/256GB
Its 3yo now and the battery life is starting to get bad. Is this a good upgrade? Is the 4GB less ram on this S23U going to be noticeably worse?

    • Highly doubt it. I've never seen my s21U hit remotely close to 16gb even with my browser having 40 tabs

    • Not quite how it works. To my knowledge, the 21 Ultra uses 12gb's of LPDDR5 at 3200MHz, whilst the 23 Ultra uses 8gb's of LPDDR5X at 4266MHz. Whilst the former has more RAM, the latter's RAM is better (the 23 also has the added function of RAM+).

    • The only time you will use extra ram is emulating Switch games.

    • lol

  • So I went through the whole process with a trade in of my Samsung S20 FE…. its valued at $20…

If I dont send the phone in do I just get charged the $20 discount they gave? Because I should be able to sell it on ebay for $200??

    Cheers

    • +1

$20 plus $60 non return fee will be charged.

  • +1

Why i am getting $866.26. Although its just a $1 difference which i don't mind but am i doing anything wrong?? Including the trade off device $5 as well

    • I am getting the same as well. Do you know what IMEI number I can use if I don't have a phone to trade in?

  • +1

How to get a $100 voucher?

  • my pixel 7 256g trade in value
    JB $330
    OW $385
    Sums $245

  • What IMEI number to enter if I don't have a phone to trade in?

    • -1

Ask Google for an S23 ultra imei

  • Please beware this is a very large and heavy phone. I'm surprised how many are jumping on this.. It's quite a large and heavy phone. Partner got it and gave it to another family member.

    • Yes, this is for those who like large phone for the maximum screen size.

And there are certain people who likes smaller phones hence every brands has small, mid and Max size phones.

      • There's very few actually small phones out there

    • +2

Yea I got one of these recently (second hand) and sold it again within a couple of months. It's a nice device to do work and such on, but heavy and unwieldy, impossible to do anything with one hand. I'd like it as a work and media device, but less as a thing to carry around during life.

Also I noticed that I'd need tighten my belt a little more when carrying this around, or my pants would start to fall down

    • This is a very average sized and weight phone for anyone who has used larger phones for the past 5 years.

I'm not sure how you could be surprised.

  • +1

    sold out?

  • Ozbargained!

  • -2

    RRP Price: $1949

hehe I got this more than a year ago for less including Samsung care and ear buds

  • Can someone please help how do I get an IMEI number for S8 if I am planning to trade in but don't have the phone. Would there be any issues if I just enter a random number?

    • Select Samsung Watch, google serial number for it and you will find plenty of images. Just use any random serial number from any of the images. Thats what I did.

  • deal appears to be back on for the s23 ultra, but its showing as a preorder with ship date of 21st May - just got one for $816.85 trading in an s21 ultra.

    • Just traded my 3-year-old S21 Ultra in as well today.

The amount the offered for the trade-in was really low-ball compared with JB etc; however the bonus offers and loyalty code more than make up for it.

The total ended up being just over $650 for me.

  • Coming from P6P, will this be an upgrade?

  • +1

hey all, Ultra must be back in stock, just ordered one, $870, $1 trade in for a dead phone.

    • did they take a Trade ID $200 security charge ?

      • $1, just the value of what I traded in

      • The trade id security charge should be whatever your trade in is valued at.

  • I got one for $533 all up after all discounts, loyalty voucher and trading in my S22 ultra.

  • back in stock!!!

    I paid 776 for S23Ultra 256GB (5%, 35%, 250 bonus)

Had the S21 128gb trade in.
They took $200 security charge for trade in, which they said they will refund on receipt of the phone

I assume they keep the $200 if you dont return the phone?

  • For those who aren't planning to trade in the phone or watch but you just want the $250 trade-in bonus, do we need to tell Aurizon later that you won't be sending any devices to them? Or do you simply not send anything them and then wait for them to charge you the $5 security charge and the $60 non-refund fee?

    • Just don’t send it

  • Purchased! Thanks OP.

  • I don’t use an android phone so my iOS App Store doesn’t have the 5% for first time purchase discount (no products list for mobile devices lol)
I got $250 trade in plus $100 from online chat and used the discount code (showing on the store website as well)
Trade in value $5 plus $60 no return penalty
Total cost $911.85+5+60=976.85 for Galaxy S23 Ultra 256GB
It would be nicer if I borrowed someone else’s phone for the App Store 5% discount but i didn’t want to bother this time. It’s within my budget for $1000 for a decent phone. I was think about the S23 FE version for $600 something but after reading a few reviews I decided to get this one instead. Thanks for the information!
It’s much cheaper than the education store which will be $1200+ (I almost paid for that price).

  • This or S24Ultra 512GB for $1450?? :S?!?! - really struggling to commit. The 256GB and curved screen are the let downs for me.

Intend to keep it for 4+ years
