What if the secret gets out?

    • 🤫

If only these worked with iphones

    • Do these not work at all with iPhones? or do they just not play nice?

    • +1

It actually worked, you can pair with iphone. You just won't have full function of it. But you also will not having full function pairing it with non-Samsung android phone.

    • lol you chose your lane

  • +2

Identical prices to the EDU sale which ended yesterday. I'm personally waiting for the 7 to release and prices to lower further

    • +2

when's the 7 due, and what do these do the watch 4 doesn't?

      • +1

Extra battery, extra sensors, extra $$

      • +2

I upgraded from the watch 4, and from what I've noticed, battery life is way better, and it's less laggy too. Everything else has felt the same. Hope it helps!

        • I'm actually wondering what to do with my watch 4. I wear it outside to count my steps. I can take calls, but my phones' right there. I duno what else to use it for.

          • +2

            @furyou: More healh related.

Bp measuremet, sleep details, resting heart rate, basic ecg.

Exercise tracking, including a rough vo2 max measurement as well as specific exercise stats (eg, running zones, technique, asymmetry, many more)

BIA for a rough look at your body (%body fat, muscle mass, etc).

Plenty of details on the product pages to explain what they do….

          • +1

@furyou: Tracking sleep, Exercising, Target a certain heart rate range while exercising, NFC Payments, Fancy watch faces every day etc.

      • +3

No clue to either question, but my simian brain likes shiny new things and 6 is higher than 4 so it must be better :)

I'll admit I do like the design of the classic 6 though

      • +1

7 series due on 10 July

  • Should add the trade in bonus - $60 on watch 6 44mm lte brings it down to about $300

    • +1

Yea got it down to $211 with my Watch 5, still not worth upgrading it for that price

      • What price is it worth upgrading at?

        • +1

The secret Santa sale for $90 was definitely a proper Ozbargain

      • +1

Bigger screen with smaller bezel in the same size case. Better battery life. Sapphire crystal lens (that same used on actual watches, far more scratch resistant). Newer chipset runs better. Will get updates longer than the watch 5. Thats a lot of compelling reasons to splash $200

      • +1

I am still on watch3 frontier 😂 6 years now, why do you need to upgrade though?

        • That watch is being deprecated now. It doesnt work on newer phones. But i suppose it doesnt matter as you sound like youll keep your phone until 4g is evetually made redundant

          • @mbck: S23 Ultra and S3 Frontier working fine for me lol

They have to force me to upgrade hw

            • @sqheaven: The s23 series is the last to be supported

              https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00082502/

They honestly should last for at least 5 years. They'll get updates for a while, so you should be good.

              • @mbck: I bought the S3 Frontier with S9+, I never felt a need to upgrade S9+ either. It was just the battery deterioration which forced me 😂

I also have all my phones I ever owned, they'll go with me. Nokia 3210 and onwards.

    • Turns out you can use chat for an extra $50 off trade in code (making it $110 trade-in bonus, bringing it down to about $250.)

  • Got a Watch 6 classic from the last deal. Seriously they are beautiful watches and they feel fantastic on hand. I'm an iPhone user and although there is literally no connectivity, I love to put this watch on my wrist.
However, the system is laggy. This is very surprising, not sure if this is just the nature of Android watches. I own apple watch ultra and, this is seriously a huge difference. I'm not trying to exaggerate but it is better to try this in jbhifi etc.

    • I had the watch5 pro and my experience is the opposite of yours. That was slightly laggy, especially in battery saver mode. But the watch6 pro is a lot smoother. I notice swiping down notification is laggy on the previous version, but the watch6 classic stays smooth.

  • What's the cheapest deal for Galaxy tab s9 at the moment?

    • This is what the site says for the Galaxy Tab S9+ 5G:
      "Was $2,149.00, Now 1611.75"

    • Need to try and get a 20% loyalty code, then use trade in bonus and 5% app discount. Might get down to $650 on the very base model (I'm not certain on current trade in bonus etc, that's just what I did recently.) Might have to email loyalty team rather than chat.

      • I don't have any Samsung products except an old Samsung a51 phone. Would trade in work and would I be eligible for loyalty code?

        • Trade in works for anyone. Try emailing [email protected] and saying you have an A51 and want to get into the Samsung ecosystem and wondering if there are any discounts for tab s9. You could also try your luck with the online chat.

          • @Sindex: Thanks, are there any key words that I have to include and would I need to attach proof of purchase for my a51?

            • @brainactive: No idea what the magic words are - they never directly replied to my email they just happened to send me a code after I'd written. Just be enthusiastic about Samsung! And if you have a Samsung amount using your email they can probably already see what devices you are using. You could also try saying if you're switching from ipad etc

        • my samsung a50 worked for trade in (i just used for bonus) and didnt actually trade in (you pay like a 30 or 60$ fee instead but keep the tradwe in bonus which is always way more than that) when buying s24 ultra

          • @BananaMan007: Could you please explain how this works? Is the $60 a penalty for not sending your phone? If the trade in bonus is $250 and you don't send the phone don't they just reverse the $250?

      • Looks like no more base model until tab 10

        • That would be surprising, I reckon tab 10 will be January 25 not July 24.

          • @Sindex: Hope they will include the base model on the next sales

            • @Bii: Oh I thought you meant out of stock! But yes surely will go on sale again

    • No tab 9 basic in this and last secret sale. Also been waiting.

  • Is it possible to root and jailbreak, debug the watch and sync it to iPhones to use?

  • Still enjoying my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier, but do keep an eye on new Samsung watches as they come out. I just haven't found one I like the look of as much yet. Anyone able tell me what I'm missing out on with the Galaxy Watch6?

    • Just look at the product page, its pretty clearly written….

      • Day to day use with first hand experience is always useful..

        • If you can't think about how those features laid on on the product pages (mind you these are marketing pages so its not like they're hard to understand), well…

          Here ill link it below:
          https://www.samsung.com/au/watches/galaxy-watch/galaxy-watch…

All you gotta do is read and 'imagine' how you'd use it.

          Edit:
Well my phone got the Galaxy ai and here's the summary LOL

Samsung Galaxy Watch6: A Comprehensive Health and Fitness Companion with Advanced Features

          • The Samsung Galaxy Watch6 is a cutting-edge smartwatch that offers a personalized health experience, including improved sleep tracking with Sleep Coaching now available directly on the watch.

          • The watch features a larger display with a slimmer bezel, making it easier to view information at a glance. It also boasts a stylish and comfortable design with interchangeable bands and a durable Sapphire Crystal glass display.

          • The Galaxy Watch6 comes equipped with a heart monitoring package, including an ECG sensor and blood pressure monitoring, to help users stay informed about their heart health.

          • The Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) sensor allows users to track their body composition and set personalized fitness goals.

          • The watch offers various fitness tracking features, including automatic workout recognition and personalized heart rate zones, and can even remotely control the camera of a paired Galaxy Z Flip5.

          • It also supports international roaming, allowing users to stay connected and make calls or send texts even without their phone.

          • With Samsung Wallet, users can make payments, ride public transit, and scan membership cards directly from their watch.

          • @mbck: …My guess is you dont watch product reviews from different sources either then…..

            • @pointnlarf: "What i'm missing out on…"

That reads as they have no idea what the difference between their old watch and the watch6.

So what's better to know about this, by looking at their product page first?

Or do you just want to be spoon fed like an adult baby?…

              ..my guess is…yes you do…

              • @mbck: I watch reviews for new models I have not had in my hands from different sources … Yes..sorry…. My bad

                • @pointnlarf: Ok good for you, i don't know why i need to know that, but thanks for sharing (?)

Also if you just scroll up a little bit (don't sprain your finger) , there are people (including me) who shared what functions this watch has.

                  Have fun watching more reviews!

                  • @mbck: I agree asking for someone's personal experience can offend. Should be outlawed really… They might get upset or they could just keep scrolling and leave it for some non Karen who doesn't mind as much..

                    • @pointnlarf: Speaking of scrolling, like i said above, if you did scroll up, you would have seen someone (me) sharing the features above. But yeah, my bad…somehow.

But nah lets lump people seeking information with people who needs to be spoonfed as one and the same. Yes, that's how you make yourself feel better.

Oh yeh lets call that someone who shared the features above as a karen, even though that's exactly what you were seeking. Sorry for that.

Wow you must've been dropped on the head too many times, coz you make absolutely 0 sense atm.

Well, I've wasted enough O². I will take your advice on keeping scrolling and ignoring a 'karen' like you though.

                      • @mbck: Karen's will Karen…. You are wasting your smarts here… Im just a dumb c##t who watches reviews …. Your intellect on the other hand has been clearly demonstrated….
just look at your first response…. brilliant….

        • +1

Yeah, apologies if my question was a little vague and caused some noses to get out of joint. And thanks @mbck for sharing a link to the product page lower down in the comments.

The aim of my question was to find out if there was anyone with personal experience of the watch (who had also previously used one of the earlier Samsung Smartwatches) to see whether there is anything stand-out that has changed over time. For me (and from what I can read on product pages and reviews and how I use the watch) I haven't really seen anything that stands out as needing me to upgrade. At these prices I'm slightly tempted but feel it would be potentially a bit overkill for my needs. Hence the question, and desire to see what people thought I might be missing out on by not upgrading.

          Peace out.

          • @smifter: There are definitely a lot of features, especially compared to the older watches. I've commented on these features above. But you're the best judge of whether they're actually useful for your use case. All the best

          • +2

@smifter: Seems totally reasonable to me…

    • I was still rocking the S3 but got a free 47mm classic with my S24 Ultra - it's a significant improvement.

      • -1

100% not just from a feature point of view, but overall performance and battery performance. (Apart from the og watch).

Even my older watch5 pro had some lagginess, while the watch6 classic had none.

There is an argument to be had, that once the watch7 comes out, these will be cheaper. But stock may disappear before then.

I suppose there could be a similar deal as the s24 ultra (ie, free watch) lol

  • Thanks for the tip. Refurb Watch4 from Green Gadgets was a NZ model, and didn't have Samsung Wallet… Hopefully now I'll be able to find out once and for all if Transport Mode is available on the watch at all for use with Opal readers without needing to press a button or anything.

(I wish Westpac kept their payment wristbands… so useful)

    • Westpac kept their payment wristbands

agree, may be they stopped due to security reasons

      • Possibly, but I suspect it was more underuse, especially after Apple Pay came about with Westpac.

  • +1

    I am happy with my 2 x Free Galaxy Watch6 Classic 47mm with 2 x S24 Ultra 512GB for $1052 each :)

    • Will take a bit to top the pre-order/day1 deal next year for the S25 for sure.

      • Likewise, didn't realise it included larger veriants like the 44mm and 47mm. Every promo since then seems to be for the 40mm only.

    • When was that deal

      • Mid feb I think? I only just got my free watch a couple weeks ago. You had to pre-order day 1 or 2 and then fill in a form.
I also did the refund accessories hack so it was like $812 and an S22U for an S24U 512GB, case, Watch 6 classic 47mm.

    • I got just one but I am as happy as you are lol

essentially paid nothing for my S24U 256GB (well, traded in S22U 128GB) and 6 Classic 47mm LTE

deal of the year for sure.

    • I've been in a 3+ month battle with Samsung over the bonus watch because they sent me the wrong model lol…
Sent it back and had to wait for stock of the correct watch, and yesterday received a package from them with the WRONG WATCH AGAIN LOL

  • Just in case someone wanted to try also. I managed to get JB to price match the Watch 6 44mm LTE at the same price (minus the band) but in black which is out of stock online. They werent too happy but relented in the end.

    • Do they usually accept these price matches?

      • Depends on mood of the sales person

  • My Pixel Watch 2 LTE glass and LCD broke. Should I get a GW6 or another PW2 LTE?

    • Wait for GW7 I think! My GW4 just broke (and got refunded..) and I'm trying to hold out for GW7 in July. Even though the rumour of blood sugar measuring seems too good to be true, it should have a much better chip and sensors. I reckon it will be a real step up.
