Excellent mouse. I have one at home and at work. However it has been this price for some time.

Mine likes to double click, disconnect multiple times even with new batteries, and scroll backwards. But for the first few months it worked fine.

Not a good price with the numerous Logitech switch issues - competition in the budget wireless gaming mouse space has ramped up significantly since this mouse was initially released.

Personally wouldn't pay over $30 AUD for this mouse given ATL of $22.8. Newer budget options like M3 Darmoshark, Keychron M1/M3, Fantech Helios range are more worth for this price (more features e.g. bluetooth+2.4ghz, lighter weight, built-in battery).
Edit: I say this as a previous owner having bought the Catch $22.8 deal.

Not discounting your views, but personally I'm a big fan of the G305. The weight feels nice to me esp. with a lighter lithium battery, and I prefer removable batteries in any electronics I plan to keep for 3+ years because built in batteries lose a good chunk of their capacity over time.

I do think you're right about the price though, the most I'd pay for the G305 is $50.

      • Definitely removable batteries is a big plus, I basically use it as the daily driver for work and casual gaming.

      • Pretty sure most 'permanent' batteries in mice are relatively easy to swap out for a replacement if needed

    • Any suggestions for a wireless gaming mouse for larger hands?

      • Logitech G502 X Plus if you're willing to shell out for it and like a weightier mouse. No personal experience with it but the G502 shell is a fan favourite for larger mice. The cheaper Lightspeed has been ~$70 before but it sells out fast.

        • Ah ok, I was waiting for a G502X Plus sale but I figured there was something from another brand that didn't have scroll wheel and click issues.

@samfisher5986: There definitely is, Glorious Model O/D wireless are solid options for hand sizes ~20cm that go on sale quite frequently. I daily drive the Darmoshark M3 at the moment and I can get a full palm grip with room to spare (18cm hand). You can't really tell what suits you until you get it in your hands though - I've given up on mice with too much of a ridge.

The Death Adder V3 Pro is great for larger hands, it is also very light weight. It is an ergo mouse so keep that in mind.

  • Has anyone got experience with Logitech mice from AliExpress? It's pretty cheap there when they are having a sale.

    • I don't have personal experience, but reading some of the comments there, there seems to be some that are clones and/or unlabelled G305/G304. Probably made in the same factory. These clones are mechanically exact same, but do not have proper serial identification and can't be recognised by the Logitech software, which makes them basically useless. You just have to be careful to select the right item and not the clones.

  • This is my top pick for a budget gaming mouse, as long as you don't have large hands. The first one I bought is still going strong at least 5 years post-purchase, and I have since bought two more for my gaming laptop and my son.

In my opinion the razer orochi v2 is a better deal at $62 on umart/centrecom right now
It's about 25g lighter and has bigger slippery bits on the bottom for smoother movement
I think the g305 has better battery life though

    • +1

Or get a Zaopin Z1 Pro for the same shape but far more modern

    • Is the Orochi v2 still lighter when it has batteries installed? Because it requires two batteries and the G305 only needs one.

      • Yeah it's lighter battery included
And it doesn't need 2 batteries you can just choose to use a AA or a AAA for extra weight control.

      • bought one for my brother and it came with and only require 1 battery to function.

I have the 305 but I prefer the mouse click switches on the Orochi v2, waiting for a better deal.

    • do you need the Razer software for it to work properly?
Had the deathadder before, very unusable if you dont have the soft ware set up. Also it gets stuck every now and then. Been staying off Razer since that.

  • I like the deep, satisfying clicks of the Logitech mouse. I’ve had a razer ballistik and its clicks have noticeably less travel distance and force required.

What other mouses around this price range has a similar satisfying click? I don’t want to pay $59 for a G305.

    • Across my family we've had the Logitech G305, G502, G703, Master MX 2S - there isn't a huge consistency in mouse clicks at all, with the G305 being the mushiest of them all. The clickiest mouse switch I've tried so far is the Steelseries Prime Wireless (mini) - but it has a polarising mouse shape that I could never get used to.

  • Light enough to regularly use, long battery life if you switch over to that option, and removable batteries makes a good daily driver. I use it for work and casual gaming.

  • Lovely mouse, but left click stopped working after a year or so. Annoying.

But you can get the same mouse for less than half that on ebay.

    G304 delivered for $22 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/335310820192

G304 and G305 are the same, just different branding in different countries.

    • Big if true

      Thank you, I ordered one!

    • Is it legit? The listing doesn't mention "Logitech" anywhere, so it might be a Chinese knock-off (but it might also be because this model is not intended to be legally sold in Australia).
Anyone actually bought it and can check?

      • Don't know.

I bought one, but from a different seller:

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/315358427445?var=613840642654

There is a picture in that listing that says go download the Logitech software to use the advanced settings, and it seems to have the G logo.

If you look at another listing https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/404915100159, that mouse has no G logo and it looks like a clone.

I guess I'll find out when I get mine in the post.

Although I don't have a G305 to compare it to see if it's the same.

Ohhh man! My mouse arrived today and its so obviously a fake.

Horrible cheap plastic in looks and feel. The logitech software doesn't detect it either.

Will be trying for an ebay refund.

    • Go in the product details,

      Brand: Unbranded

      Try https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/395342014490

      Brand: Logitech

Or just ask the seller directly.

      • +1

        That's a fake product, it's garbage, I purchased one.

        • Yes, I think they are all fakes.

Mine was also a fake. The wireless receiver shows up as a Sharkoon device and not Logitech, so the Logitech software doesn't work.

The packaging looked legit, even had the Logitech sticker. Serial number was also legit and worked on the Logitech website.

Got my money back straight away, no questions asked.
