  • $249 for jeans? Even for motor cycling, seems expensive

    • +2

feel free to share similar for significantly cheaper :)

Well, if I were to guess, all that R&D into creating the unbreakable fabric costs money hence the heftier pricing.

A standard pair of riding jeans is roughly $150 on sale and that usually has kevlar covering only the knee area and the hips. Kevlar being a more readily available material, would also cost less, whereas this is made fully of the unbreakable material thus overall coverage.

If you are looking at non-kevlar jeans, the only equivalent that comes to mind would be a 25oz pair.

I'm not familiar with this brand but the $250 mark is low-mid end for riding jeans. Most of the cost is in the abrasion resistance material, armour, armour pockets and additional labour.

I've high sided and low sided in bullet gear and unfortunately the jeans did fail at 60km/hr on asphalt, fortunately the failure point had armour which took the brunt of it.

      • +5

Correct. The latest abrasion-resistant material called Dyneema, is found in these jeans. If you shop around for other jeans with Dyneema, you'll typically see them go for $350-$500. $250 is a small price to pay for peace of mind that you won't need a skin graft after a nasty accident

        • how does it compare to leather?

          • @WT: I'd say, not as good.

Even if the textile material doesn't fail, the friction burn you'll get will be pretty bad.

Leather being much thicker will reduce friction burns.

Source, low sided on elbow and knee.
My elbow had leather, minimal friction burns.
knees had bullit covec single layer jeans, a lot more friction burns.

    • $499 via your link?

        • Hmmm it doesn't appear as though these were $499 after doing a Google search.

          google shows current prices :)

          also $499 here

Just to confirm, the screenshot you have there is showing exactly what OP has posted, the same website and all.

So how is that proof that it's not $499?

  • Replying to OP, Abrasion resistance aside, I found Draggin's Twista jeans to be the most comfortable to be in. I never ended up buying any Draggin though because of the price. Now I own a pair of Dri Rider Titans, which honestly don't feel far off from Draggin's Twista, but there definitely is a subtle difference in quality and comfort. Unfrotunately I cannot comment on the how the Sa1nt jeans compare.

  • I'm going to grab a pair, just wish they had other colours besides black.

Looks like it doesn't come with armour :-/

    • +1

The free armour that you typically get with motorcycle clothing usually suck. Its always the yellow foam type ones that are so bulky and uncomfortable, as they don't move freely. Invest in some good flexible ultra thin ones that are invisible under clothing, and you can swap it between outfits. I like my D30 Ghost, but there are other brands that use similar technology/ materials

      • +1

If you buy branded kevlar jeans the protectors are CE approved. Looks like the Ghost is only CE-1, ideally you want CE-2

        • +1

D30 Ghost comes in CE L1 and CE L2 versions

    • I suspect these don't come even with pockets for protectors.

    Getting it through here https://thedom.com/men/clothing/denim/unbreakable-slim-jeans…

With the discount code 15DOM10NAJ brings it to $226.65 delivered

    • Or spend $345 or more with that discount code and get free shipping.

I tried making up a cart of $300 to qualify for free shipping, but somehow the website has $300 post discount as the free shipping criteria thus $345 is the way to go.

      • +2

or $226.36 delivered direct after 10% TopCashback :)

        • I think Sa1nt updated thedom website to make it >$200 for free shipping, so it's $211.65 now for me.

Tried using TopCashback, but T&C suggests the discount code may null the 3%.

  • For it's full rrp $499 for a pair of kevlar jeans is brave and crazy, too crazy to not spend the same amount of money to buy some racing leather pants.
Go on any motorcycle gear retailers websites, any, buy a pair of FULL PRICED well branded (RST, REVIT, DRIRIDER, MACNA etc.) jeans for under $350. And some of them are on special very often, for around the $200 mark.
The SA1NT brand is unheard of.

    • +3

Kevlar vs Dyneema in the end, and whether the material is weaved into the jeans or sewed on. I've owned a few pairs from Dririder, Aussie gear and RST, and can confidently say I find the sa1nt the most comfortable and light.

    • Saint have been around for over a decade now. And have had their stuff independently tested by Motocaps.
Is it the same as racing leathers no… but have used them travelling in Europe and rode motorbikes in the Italian Alps for about 3 days during the trip & they were the ride equipment for the trip. Suitable for use in lower speed [<80km/h riding] and urban while having a second function. Little to no impact resistance, but can provide good abrasion resistance for lower speed slides.
They are the most comfortable of the jeans I have used to date that provide a level of abrasion resistance.

  • Doesnt even appear to be listed on https://www.motocap.com.au/

  • Black jeans on a bike absolutely suck in summer. Especially if you're commuting and have to sit at any traffic lights in full sun.

  • +2

have had a few paris of these now, honestly they are great. Well cut/designed and comfortable, along with the dyneema weave making them stronger than denim.
Not having sown in patches lie kevlear makes them way more comforatble and seamless.

If you have a motorbike and want a pair of jeans to still give you some protection while looking normal these are a great option.
