          • @dyziplen: ? its direct from syd to san fran

            • +1

@belongsinforums: Of course not, you didn't want a direct, so its spilt into 4 hr, 10 hr, 2 hr

              • @dyziplen: what?

                • @belongsinforums: Fiji goes Sydney - Fiji, Fiji - LA, LA-San Francisco. No 14 hour flights.

                    @dyziplen: read his post again

@maybe a bot: So they are complaining about 14 hour flights, and then they want a direct rather than stop overs?

Dallas direct flights are even longer at 15-16 hours outbound and 16-17 back, and don't think there are any direct Seattle flgihts.

        • +1

There are direct flights to Dallas, but those cost around $2700. Not exactly a bargain!

Changing the search to LAX shows United have direct flights for $993 return

I know right - if only they'd move the countries closer together. So inconvenient….

The options given actually have really good connections all things considering

      • they used to be closer together. its those pesky politicians

        • they used to be closer together. its those pesky politicians

The Australian continent is actually moving North about 2.5cm/year. So give it time we'll get there again…

  • I heard american airlines do oversold their tickets. Does it include United? Or they do it only in the US or US domestic flights?

    • Its typically just domestic, where they can easily bump you to the next flight in a couple hours time.

    • All American carriers do this domestically because they have so many flights. When you are flying a route 20 times a day you can overbook then bump passengers to the next flight to improve margins.

United will not oversell tickets in Economy from Australia to North America due to weight restrictions as they take cargo both to and from the USA to Australia.
American Airlines does have a tendency to oversell on its AA73 and AA74 services from SYD-LAX.
Delta usually doesnt have to oversell as they are never quite 100% full from SYD to LAX.

A good price but may lose a couple of teeth in the mean time!

    • +1

      lose teeth how?

  • +2

Flew United using points last month syd to lax
Flight was not even half full. Probably better odds of having empty seat by you than with qantas if thats your thing.

whats in Seattle or dallas? genuine question

    • +1

      Shawn kemp statues

      • lol, at least NY LA Miami have some appeal to a visitor. but there is nothing in Seattle or dallas

        • +1

          there is nothing in dallas

But its just a short drive to your place in Austin.

  • Are these some of them 17.5h flights?

  • Got a round trip for my American partner and I for $1400 AUD, thanks! During Thanksgiving, too. Wonderful find.

  • Do you know how low prices from Sydney to LAX get throughout the year? ATM they’re $993 return in December 2024 which is great. Wondering to buy now or worth waiting?

    • For December, I would buy now

  • Ah America, Canada’s Mexico

  • Any advice on when I should buy tickets to go to LA in April next year?

    • For April next year, I would wait. Usually the best time to buy tickets is 3-6 months out.

      • Ok, thankyou

  • Is it likely that United will discount flights through to Calgary (via SFO)?

    • I can't be sure but its not a route I see go on sale often, if ever

  • Do you know of any deals from Perth to Mexico? All of these deals from the east coast quickly lose there appeal from over west when you add on the overpriced Australian domestic flights.

    • I just had a quick look and it seems that route is sitting at around $2300. Sucks that Perth is generally more expensive, but it just comes down to supply and demand - more passengers, more airlines, more routes out of Sydney and Melbourne make them the most competitive airports to fly out of price wise
