Sale is only for Craftsman. NOT Comfort Craftsman. Please change title.

    • +4

      For those wondering, I’ve both
      Comfort has rubber sole
The other one is a leather sole

      • Is the comfort one actually more comfortable to wear for a whole day?

        • +2

          Yes
My back foot do become sore after walking
Normally I take a walk around the city during my lunch break and the walk back and forth to the car park

        • +7

I have both, and tbh, the comfort craftsman is the way to go and is the one I wear daily.

        • +3

Thanks guys. Will give this deal a pass and wait for the Comfort then. Still worthy of an upvote though.

          • @GreenRomeo: I thought the dynamic flex would be most comfortable due to its insole?

            • @IamaCam: depends on your feet. I thought this too and bought the dynamic flex. I couldn't work out why after hours and km's of walking in them they gave me blisters on top of my toes. I recently wanted a black pair and brought the older ones with me and they were confused why I'd buy them. The inner sole is not good for people (me!) who don't normally have orthotics or like lots of support. They told me to put normal inners in and I'm able to wear them again. Shows me right for purchasing cheap online and not getting them fitted. The comfort craftsmen's are great too.

          • @GreenRomeo: Glad I read comments from you guys before buying

        • Yes, I regret getting the leather sole ($350 at the outlet a fair few years ago). Took the longest time to break in. Small toes copped it and too hard on the feet outside.

          • @G-rig: Breaking in is never fun with leather shoes imo, especially compared to your runners!

            • @Xistre: True but it seemed like very hard leather and was at least 6 months untill they were even a bit comfortable, best on carpets. Just got the standard width, think I tried on wide once but they were a bit weird.

Anyway wouldn't buy again either way, usually just wear sneakers or runners as you say, comfort first.

        • +1

I have the comfort craftsman, and don't find it that comfortable for walking around all day (compared to other shoes I wear, e.g. Redbacks, sneaker). Not a deal breaker as I don't walk around much on a typical work day, but feet hurt in these if I do walk a fair bit - it's rubber, but it's a pretty hard rubber. Can't compare against the leather sole though.

          • @askvictor: Yeah it says it on the website:

the Dynamic Flex Craftsman Boot has the same design as our classic Craftsman, with the addition of a combined leather and rubber sole. This modern feature offers added flexibility and softness for all-day ease of wear.

"The R.M.Williams experience is truly a bespoke one, taking into account the intricacies of each foot. With its functional construction and capacity to host orthotic inserts, the Dynamic Flex Craftsman cultivates such a personal connection between the wearer and their boots."

Comfort Craftsman would be the best choice for most people.

      Done :)

Nice price, any cash back offers lying around?

  • +1

    No 8H
    coping immensely

  • +2

I think this is the first time I've seen the F sizes on sale. Always been turned off them for this reason but perhaps worth a plunge.

  • +2

Craftsman is so heavy and not as comfortable as Comfort Craftsman.
I'd pay the $100 extra for the rubber soul imo.

    • +18

I'd pay the $100 extra for the rubber soul

      aptly questionable morality

    • Does anyone know how the vibram sole on the Armadale boot, compares to the sole on the Comfort Craftsman? I prefer the leather soles but like the Armadale shape, very little online about this, even the RM website hasn't been updated with details on this sole yet.

    • Is that the king of soul James Black or Brown?

  • +5

interesting that the title for the item is "G fit" on the DJs website, but most of th sizes on sale are F.

  • no G :(

    • +1

Aint a G thang. Just boots on discount.

  • Not bad

  • F is too narrow for me. And leather soles no good in the rain. Pass

  • Bugger it isn't for the comfort :(

  • Reckon you can buy these and then swap for a rubber sole at an official RM store?

    • Just call, they cannot swap like that.

    • I did that with a pair I got from the Qantas store but have heard they are less likely to do that these days.

I think these deal might have been cross posted from the RM Williams appreciation Facebook group. Worth a join if you like the brand.

  • Why do the sizes always stop at 7 AU.

With rmw, size 6.5au = US8.5/9 in Nike's for me

  • +2

It's worth noting that F fit is for narrow feet. With the leather sole, this will fit to your foot over time as the leather sole has give. I made the mistake of changing my leather sole to rubber after wearing through the sole several times. The rubber has zero give and has made the shoe a lot less comfortable. The trade off being durability of the sole and not having to replace so often/if ever.

    • +1

Yes I agree. I got two pairs of brown in G for the initial comfort fit but 3 yrs in I'm having to wear thick socks and it's now too wide for me. On the other hand my black F pair is perfect now.

  • Haven't seen this pricing in years.

      • Sorry, in the chestnut.

        The tan was understandable discounted.

  • no 9 or 10 us…

    • +1

I wear a 7 Wide but my sport shoes are 9 or 10 US.

  • I never bloody see a deal on the signature ones

  • Brown and Chestnut are different right?

  • Most sizes gone

  • Nothing with H fit?

  • +3

Streuth…. 40% off is $390 now? I love my RMs but I don't know how far my love can take me

    • Mate, it's inflation. $390 looks like a fantastic deal at the moment.

And I think they have close to never discounted the leather one.

  • Lol feel my X width sizing never goes on sale. Need a brown pair to go with my black one.

    • Yeah I think I'm in this category.
Went to try some on @ RM and was given a tambo pair to try
Even those felt very 'snug' and didn't really give me the whole 'Sure, I'll hand over $650 for these' vibes so I've been watching for sales hoping to maybe pick something up cheaper and give them a shot.

Need some new work boots though damnit!

  • +1

    No comfort no deal

  • Thank goodness they dont have my size I'd punch myself in teh face paying that much.
    YMMV

  • I guess promotion ended prematurely

    • Expired early, DJ have removed the discount on the remaining sizes.

      • +2

        Cretins lol

  • +1

25% off the comfort black at iconic, not bad but not 40% :(

    • -1

and only black oily 👎 (and limited sizes)

  • So glad I jumped on this and grabbed a pair. Not even sure if they’re the right size but figured I can exchange at a DJs store for the right fit. This price is what I paid pre-Covid (2017) and that was massively reduced even back then from $549.

    • +1

See if you can swap them for some comfort Craftsman, or at least try them on to compare ;). Your feet will than you later.

      • +1

100%! I like your thinking. My first pair was hand me downs from my granddad as we have roughly the same shoe size. They were worn but decent craftsman leather sole like these. Sucked for walking a distance but no issues if mostly sitting in an office. Then I got my first new pair in 2017, comfort craftsman chestnut. You’re right, greater comfort and easier to walk, but within 3 months the rubber at the toe came off at the stitching. No incident or damage for a reason why and probably on their 10th wear. Was quite disappointed and took to several shops all whom refused to assist with fixing/ repair without $80 fee. So I just left it, still wear them but the rubber of the left toe exterior is gone. Also internally the leather at the ankles under the tilde has pulled away from the shoe, which is annoying. Overall quite comfortable shoes and getting decent mileage out of them but can’t help but be disappointed in the lack of quality tbh. Still, nothing looks the part like RM’s, and in a world of finance bros where I barely know what the f I’m talking about half the time, the least I can do is look the part. As my first manager wisely imparted to me, ‘fake it till you make it’. A decade in and now I realise pretty much everyone just fakes it until retirement.

        • +1

Ha yeah, I don't think they'd let you swap for a different model (only swap for a different size apparently) but would be nice if you could (shame the comfort weren't reduced as well). Perhaps I should have got half a size up and wear thicker socks for comfort. Only grabbed them as they were (relatively) cheap from the outlet 6 or 7 years ago, but don't see much use these days. Not a fashion parade post covid but can get away wearing whatever if you want. I know what you mean about the blue suit brigade (lot of law and finance companies down at Eagle St, most Engineers have a pair too).

That's a shame the comforts came apart prematurely, would have expected more for the price and annoying they didn't look after you on that. Seems like the staff at these RM stores can be hit and miss. Sometimes just easier to take to a cobbler but that should have been covered under warranty you'd think.

Sounds like you are more than familiar with the leather ones then, they are ok if mostly worn around on the carpet and short strolls around the place/commuting. Nothing wrong with changing to runners or other shoes sometimes and leaving at work (i do when commuting on bike), saves the wear and more comfort. I was going to suggest getting a rubber topy put on - some people claim the leather can't breath but think it's totally fine. More grip and comfort, may prolong the life of the sole. My stitching almost worn through near the toe but not worth doing anything about it yet. May get one fitted myself.

  • Shoes arrived, right foot is a dynamic flex and left foot is a classic craftsman lol
    what are my options?
