why this over octoprint or Fluidd?

    • +1

It's a all in one unit, set up all ready to go I guess. You can root this and put octoprint and fluidd I think? Idk i am new to 3d printing. Bought the 3v3 se and waiting for it to arrive.

    • This should have pre-configured settings for Creality printers. Initial set-up is going to be easier than setting up a raspberry pi (unless you are fluent in python)

      • that's if you plan to switch it from marlin to klipper though, so I guess what benefits are there in using Klipper on these printers?

        • Input shaping, pressure advance, extensive control of real time adjustments during a print are a few of the advantages. Disclaimer: Last time I used Marlin was 18+ months ago on an Ender 3v2, some of these features may have found their way into more recent printers/marlin builds

  • Would this work on a creality CRX?

$163.34 BIGTREETECH Pad 7 with Pre-installed CB1 Core Board for Running Klipper.
Will work with any 3D printer.

    • Can you go without the "SKR MINI E3 V3.0 32 Bit Control Board" to plug the pad 7 into a ender printer? Is it just a upgrade unit?

      • You should be able to load Klipper firmware onto your printer, no need to change control board.

        • Thanks I'll have a look into it. Kinda jumped into another hobby atm. Waifu is complaining about the wifi.

  • Am I the only one that thought this was a DAC/amp called the Creative Sound Pad?

  • Now the next consideration is why not leave current printer as Marlin and get a new printer that already uses Klipper

    • or get this and three new printers, all then running klipper…

I have an ender 3 v2 with a sonic pad on it. Its good for speed, set up, wifi/network connection and stability. There's still fiddling to be done but its easier to do than with the standard setup. At this price, it's ok.
If you're thinking about buying this and a new 3d printer, spend more money on something good

  • you can also run multiple instances on an old SFF or laptop etc

Got everything running pretty easily using an old SFF, installed Linux mint and klipper all set up using KIAUH
