Anyone know of a more budget friendly alternative for this kind of form factor mech keyboard?
The only one that comes to mind being the Nuphy knockoff Blitzwolf BW-Mini75, or is the pricetag on logi worth the bar of entry.

    • You can check out keychron k3 pro

      • How much cheaper than this is that?

        • +1

          At least $2.

      • Keychain have got some great stuff in the $100 to $150 range.
        We'll designed and well made.
        Wouldn't touch Logitech.

        • I have a keychron and plan to go back to logitech next time. Can't be used on wireless as the battery only last a few days. Logitech last for months.

@aarick: I also had a keychron (k3) and the wireless kept dropping out. The keycaps felt cheap too. Changed to a mx mechanical mini, so much better, it just works and typing feels better too.

            • @shuffle1: Been a while since i had a Logitech board, back then they never used MX switches, and all of their caps were very very nasty.
Have they really changed their ways?

The Stock caps on the Q6 are very nice though.

          • @aarick: Fair enough.. I'm running the Q6 wired.

Got sick of cheap Logitech boards that are nasty to use.
Got sick of their unrepairable and poorly designed expensive boards that , even though they last longer still end up in the bin.

As much as i dislike logitech they do seem to have some really solid wireless tech and while their cheap product have poor battery life and/or poor compatibility with NiMH batteries their more premium stuff is the very opposite, i suspect better micros and the use of more efficent buck/boost or boost regulators is the reason.

few options from keychron like the k3, though at $120 I wouldn't call it budget friendly either. If you want true budget options ali is your best friend. machenike stands out as having different color options and their regular keyboards are decent enough in functionality.

      • K2v2 is $129 on ebay, personally i love the k2 more than k3 or other logictech keyboards, but it's an individual thing. I also run macos/windows/linux from the same dock so it's nice to be able to accomodate all of them.

    • Akko

    • Royal Kludge make some decently priced TKL and smaller keyboards, e.g.

      https://www.amazon.com.au/RK-ROYAL-KLUDGE-Mechanical-Keyboar…

You'll need to change the switches if you want it quiet(er) though.

  • Thanks mate. I got JB to price match so I can use a gift card.

I have been testing out the battery life of mine that I bought 4 months ago used.

Using the bolt receiver, light use, backlight off, always on and charged full. It is now 90% battery according to the software after 4 months, no one can touch Logitech when it comes to battery life.

The only problem I have with low profile keyboards is their switch wobble. It's much worse than regular mechanical switches and it's bad enough that I prefer a good laptop-style scissor switch instead. I'd recommend you try these out for yourself first before purchase.

  • Why don't people like numpads?

    • +1

The advantage to having a more portable keyboard is worth it for me personally, as I don't type a lot of numbers. Previously, when working with large amounts of numbers, I would have missed it. It's just a matter of preference and use case.

    • Standard with numpad is only $20 more at $189.

    • +1

Ergonomics. You can Centre the keyboard and not have to stretch far for the mouse.

  • Been using one for the last few months and love it.
Battery lasts forever even with light on, proximity sensor works pretty good and it switches seamlessly between devices instantly.
Only problem I had is that, a couple times, it wouldn't connect to the dongle after a reboot.. just had to reach the back of the pc and unplug/plug the thing to be back in action. Not even sure it was a keyboard issue or an OS one tho, hard to tell
Can't fault it, will prob buy again once this dies (not soon by the looks, feels solid as).
