Airbnb - $25 off Any Booking of $75 or More (Short Term Accommodation Rentals)

122
SYDNEY_LAUNCH

From an email I received:

Planning a getaway? Use coupon code "SYDNEY_LAUNCH" to get $25 off any booking of $75 or more.

Please do your research before deciding to book using Airbnb. My personal strike rate is only 1 out of the 3 bookings I have made actually ended up being successful (the other 2 were cancelled by the hosts). Whilst there are definitely some great listings on the site, if it looks too good to be true then it probably is!

  • I wonder if this can be on top of the first stay $25 off for new members…

    • What's the deal on that? I just signed up and see nothing about this $25 off for new members anywhere.

      • PM me one of your not-signed up email address and I will refer you, you get $25 off first booking

Maybe if you change your name from POWERHAMMER to something like I'M TIDY your Airbnb strike rate will improve ;)

$9 booking fee? Wtf? Are they owned by ticketmaster or something?

    • Yeah the booking fee is a bit steep, but tbh having a place to stay using airbnb is quite good. Got friends of mine who used it and save heaps compared to hotels where you don't get much amenities at all.

Dunno, just not a fan of Airbnb at all. It is like couchsurfing, but not free. It is the equivalent of bottled water (paying for something that you can easily get for free).

And when comparing to hotels??? Doesn't even seem that cheap, really.

is this just for sydney? or anywhere in the world?

    where is the T&C?….

  • "if it looks too good to be true then it probably is!"

But the majority of things look to good to be true(at least when compared to hotels). :/

    • Airbnb has been around for a while and is pretty reputable. That is not to say whoever rents you a room / place isn't dodgy.

  • Just tried to use it - "this voucher has already been used"

I've used Airbnb a number of times and generally found it to be excellent. I paid something like $50 a night for a MASSIVE, newly refurbished single bedroom apartment in the middle of Rome.

I also have used AirBNB in several places around the world over a number of years and stayed in some fabulous places much cheaper than hotels. My favourite would be NYC where we saved around 75% as compared to hotels. The steeper costs incurred for booking came about after a young woman had her place completely trashed after renting it out via Airbnb. Due to that booking fees now include a compulsory insurance factor to cover both parties.

    • Any recommendation for places to stay in NYC?

      • What areas you want to be? NYC is a big city, you can stay in the heart of Manhattan or travel a bit out, like Queens (Flushing Queens is 15 mins away from Manhattan via Subway) or around Brooklyn.
