  • This was already posted by the Good Guys, but was removed for being incomprehensible (not sure how, exactly)

    • The good guys website had not been updated to reflect the deal at the time of the previous post, so we had no way of checking that it was really on.

      • I'm still yet to get my store credit from the last deal…. stated to get the credit no LATER then 20th of this month!

        • Just checked again .. 21st .. still nothing..
EDIT - just sent an email to them and they replied with the store credit code.. i guess my email never came in .. oh well all good now!

      • Ah ok, my bad.

  • Didn't they just run a similar promotion last week? Getting a bit boring now.

  • spewing the big dollars only rebatable on whitegoods - boring whitegoods :(

    • You find keeping fresh food cold and clean clothes boring?

I would call it a Scam.
I've been watching the price of a few appliances, they've reverted the prices of the entitled products to original price prior launching this "bonus" store credit campaign.

All the special prices on the catalogue are not applicable to this online offer.

Yep - I was just looking at one of their gas stoves, which they've got priced now at $1199. I checked it on Shopbot, and it's $998 at Savvy Appliances and Shopbot even has the Good Guys price cached at $999. So it looks like they've just put the price up to more or less cover the 'discount'. Not kosher!

    • Absolutely! I've felt like they've done this before on similar 'cashback' deals, this time there's no doubt. Pathetic

  • Hmmm thinking of
getting Nexus 7 16g at price of AUD 244 with one of this cable
    http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Belkin_ACCIPOD_IPHON…
    for extra AUD 10
total of AUD 254 with AUD 30 off come to AUD 224 :D
    tempting……….

    • I would find something other than that cable to bump you over $250. Those cables aren't worth $1, mine died after about 2 uses…

It's not $30 off, it is $30 store credit, which is much less attractive.

  • I think this kind of crap promotion turns people off. Instead of say a good 15% off storewide which would actually mean something, they put on this ridiculous scheme which even differs depending on what you buy. Not sure if they have heard of KISS (keep it simple stupid).

  • I am planning to buy an air con, so this deal seems not bad as long as i can find one on their site with good price.

  • Not directed at OP, but TGG's being a bit misleading calling this a 'cash back', when it's actually just store credit.

  • +3

Read the fine print guys, you only have until 24 December 2012 to use the store credit before it expires.
So unless you're plannig to buy something else within a month, you probably won't be using the credit.

  • "Cyber Cashback Store credits are valid until Monday 24 December 2012. The value of the store credit issued will be dependent on product and spend. Cashback storecredits cannot be redeemed with any other offer."

So not only you have to use the credit by 24 December but you can't use it with any other offer!

  • their online prices are always more than what they offer in store… effctively u save only abt 40-80bucks…

  • If you're thinking of buying a major appliance ignore the haters and the cynics and have a look at this offer. I'm looking at a Samsung french door fridge, the price is about equal to best available first quality on the comparative shopping sites (ignore 2nds/shopsoiled/recycles!!) and the $250 can go to something like a coffee machine (which I also need). And I have NO connection with the Good Guys…(haters and cynics note..). Well done bonky!!

  • This deal is absolutely sh!t house, I wish the ACCC would crack down on them for deceptively calling it "Cyber Cashback". There is no cash back whatsoever. Notwithstanding that, it's still a crap deal. It's basically like those crappy Roger David deals - buy one item, and get the second one half price. Thumbs down.

    • Indeed it's against the law for a store to raise the price before advertising themselves on-sale.

GG are always like that - Shitty cunning Deals.. they pissed me off when a few days back i went to buy a fridge which was for $949.. When i asked abt the best price, they said they can do it for $828…
Now I had a $100 discount voucher with me and was very excited abt it..As my cost could have come down to $728..But turns out that voucher is only valid on Ticketed price which was $949..so with voucher the fridge cost would have been $849 for me.. and cheaper witout it…

  • Yes, it's a bad deal, but enough of the swearing guys. There's people of all ages on here, and they don't need to see everyone acting like the dregs of society when they make a complaint.

    • Apologies, Senator Stephen Conroy.

  • If you don't get any cash back then it's not cashback.

  • SCAM

    • Scamy Scam Scam.

      • just sent an email to them and they replied with the store credit code.. i guess my email never came in .. oh well all good now!

  • It says in the T&C HOW TO CLAIM pdf here:-

    http://social.thegoodguys.com.au/promos/xml/cyber-cashback/c…

"Valid Claims will be issued their The Good Guys Store Credit (“Store Credit”) via email.
    • Store Credits will be received no later than Monday 26th November; the Store Credit will be valid until Monday 24th December 2012."

Should I wait till the Monday the 26th or just send them an email now? My purchase was made online on the 21/11/2012 in the morning well before the expiry time.

Did you email them through the Contact Form on the Website or is there another contact email address…thanks

    Here is the original promotion

    • An update on my above post…

As stipulated in their T&C HOW TO CLAIM pdf

"Valid Claims will be issued their The Good Guys Store Credit (“Store Credit”) via email.
      • Store Credits will be received no later than Monday 26th November; the Store Credit will be valid until Monday 24th December 2012."

True to their word, I received an email today Monday 26th November with my store credit…I'd say they were pretty much spot on, now I will find out just how much they will honour this credit.

I will report back when I utilise the store credit to make a purchase.

      • True to their word I went today and purchased Panasonic Cordless Phone Triple Pack.

With the $50 off I basically got the 3rd Phone for free…so far a good experience with GG, I have purchased in the past without issue.
