If so it's definitely a great console to pick up and it'll be the only way you'll be able to play those games. WiiU has my pick for best multiplayer console to date, just because of the innovation in controls.
If you want single player experiences that aren't "Nintendo"-ish I wouldn't recommend it immediately but if you're after a Nintendo experience or a great multiplayer experience, do it!

thats more so with original wii.
the new wii should is a next gen console which is capable of playing any of the AAA titles you will see on xbox and playstation, and i expect that to be so with 3rd party software support.
best multiplayer console?? i think you mean local multiplayer.

I can kind of agree. Their everyday prices are always lower than BIG W or Target. That's why BIG W and Target stores have one off specials to bring you in, otherwise you'd never leave Kmart. Kmart can't be rivaled when it's something small like a dvd player, usb stick, cd sleeves, clothes, etc. But on the big items better deals can always be found.

GreatWhiteHunter on 25/11/2012 - 19:05 ¶I'm expecting Big W will probably have the cheapest price on launch day - they seem to do that pretty often.
My local JB HiFi (Hornsby NSW) are good though - they'll match Big W/Kmart/whatever and they'll normally knock $10 off each game you buy with a console.

Yes, will probably get one…. sigh….

+6 votesYou are price protected at EB. So you can go to the midnight launch, pay full price, and then go back into the store the next day (or up to a week later) and get the extra $50 refunded back to you in cash. I work at EB, and have done it for customers countless times.
+1 voteMaxamillion21 on 26/11/2012 - 09:32 ¶That's not going to happen. The managers desperate to keep their GM (gross margin stats) will either say they don't match consoles (which I've been told) or the local Kmart will be "out of stock" so they won't do it. Just go to Kmart and save yourself the money and messing around with EB.
Swankenstein on 26/11/2012 - 11:38 ¶EB will accept return with full refund for any item returned in its entirety in perfect condition. However they would not accept return of the packaged game (Nintendoland) if it has even been opened. This might be helpful as an alternative to this undocumented "price protection".
17.3 Refunds and returns
If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with a product you have purchased, we will provide you with a refund (except for certain items described below) or exchange if you return it to any EB Games store in Australia within 7 days after you receive it in its original condition (including all packaging, accessories and manuals). For your convenience, we also accept returns by mail: please call 13 39 30 to find out how to make a return by mail. Your electronic invoice is required for both in-store and mail returns. In the event that a returned order has any packaging, manuals, accessories, blank warranty cards or other items missing, the return may be refused, or we may deduct the value of any of the missing items. Shipping charges are non-refundable; however, we will refund your original shipping cost if you are returning a defective item, or because of an error on our part. Due to copyright laws, computer and game console software, music CDs, DVDs and videos in opened packages may only be exchanged for the same item.

Strand0410 on 25/11/2012 - 21:52 ¶You could get it even cheaper than that. I remember picking mine up from Games Wizards for $250ish with a free game (F1 Pole Position) a month or so after launch. Then I distinctly remember the $199 pack with the clear purple controller.
+2 votesSorry about that. I got an NTSC N64 shipped over from the US in December 1996 because I couldn't bear having to wait 3 months for the PAL version (which when you're 15 is an eternity). Wasting the entire school summer holidays without having an N64 just wasn't an option.

If you already intend to buy an external HDD and hook it up. The in built storage on the premium is more than the basic but it's still pitiful, and you're going to need to supplement it with an ext HDD anyway.
It's down to whether the other extras included are worth $80. For me they're not. Plus I also prefer the white colour.
+2 votesI've talked to a Nintendo rep at work and she suggested that the Basic Pack is mainly focussed at people that already have a Wii because you can take the sensor bar off your old wii and put it on the Wii U.
I prefer the Premium because it comes with the sensor bar, a dock for the Wii U controller and a game.
Nintendo actively put low storage in each console because each one can be expandable using USBs, external hard drives and SD cards, and this method makes it cheaper for them because they dont have to remake the Wii U every 2 years with more storage.

Because updating the package every few years takes a lot of effort right? They could have at least left room for an internal HDD addition.
The true reason is more like they want to save money because they don't want to sell at a loss. $380 is a lot of money for something with no HDD, especially when the tech is only current gen (which is ending soon). The ports of games that released on other systems have been running poorly on the Wii U.

The report is that they are profitable after selling one game. For MS and Sony, the customer needed to buy more games than that before they break even.
This is only a tiny loss.
They sell the console at a price you would expect if there was a HDD in it. Basically you have to fork over extra for your HDD, whereas at this price from an MS or Sony console it's already there.
They didn't cut the HDD to save you money… the price wasn't reduced to save you money. The money that was saved was Nintendo's.
Collins000 on 26/11/2012 - 00:25 ¶Anyone know if JB will match this? Not sure about their price matching policy

I agree. I had it ordered but didn't really want the silicone case, only got it because it was free with the console but wouldn't have used it and at the time it was the cheapest deal available. Plus I didn't like having to wait until the following week for it to be delivered so i'm glad there's a better deal.
+4 votesCalled my local Kmart they confirmed the price of $379 for the premium Wii U but told me they weren't doing pre-orders and I would need to come go down there first thing on Friday and hopefully get one.
I then called Kmart Customer Support and they said the exact same thing.Called EB Games Customer Support and asked about price matching said that it has to be in stock at the other store, If you go get it at the Midnight release then the other store isn't open to confirm the price and available stock so I would need to pay full price and would need to go into the store the next day and ask for a refund and if the price was less then 20% of the EB Games price then the EB Games store has a right to refuse the price match (20% off $429 = 343.2, so that shouldn't be a problem). Sounds a little bit risky there but they said to contact your local store to confirm whether that store will price match or not.
Called my local EB Games Store they outright refused to price match at all (for Midnight release or on release day when other retailer would be open) because the console bundle could be different and Kmart didn't have a pre-order system and they would be getting very limited stock. They were quite rude about it. I tried to explain I had spoken to Customer Service already and Kmart is selling the exact same console with the same stuff included. They just started repeating the same thing and refused to listen.
I then called my next local EB Games store who were much more friendly and more helpful. They said That they do have pre-orders available and they would price match however if I went to the midnight launch I would need to pay full price and come in during the day to come into store and they would be happy refund the price difference.
Called Big W Online Support and canceled my online order, no major problems. I used a $50 gift card with the order and they just going to give that back in normal money YAY :)
Now I'm going down to my other Local EB Games store (the friendly one) and pre-ordering it. Its surprising how a little little of friendly service by a retailer can go a long way with customers.
Sorry for the long post :)
