  • keeps trying to force me to both like or follow it and then spam my friends or followers before i can d/l it

    • I also found this to be quite annoying, I don't need this software that badly to spam people with it.

  • I'm sure this will be useful for some but if it's just to view the files on an iPad why not just use a media player that plays all the formats, rather than spend time converting the files to iPad format (unless you want to resize them)?

  • was so excited when i saw this; however, only for Mac users ;(!
Anyway, it's free so + from me.

    Facebook or Twitter required :(

Rubbish software, there is far better software free for both PC & Mac (also capable of using 64bit)

HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded video transcoder, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows.

    http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php

This thing will convert almost anything

    • Also, If you on a Mac and have MKV videos you want to play on your iPad I recommend this software

      MP4tools

      http://www.emmgunn.com/mp4tools/mp4toolsdownload.html

The difference with this software is that when converting an MKV to MP4 it doesn't re-incode it. So the benefit of that is that no loss on the file conversion (think photocopying a photocopy) and its done super quick (average about 1 min)

      :D

      • any windows equivalent version?

    • yeah I use Handbrake. and no need for facebook and twitter..

      Not a Deal at all..

      • Only used hand brake a long time ago, when the iPod touch first came out and I found it took an hour to convert an hour worth of .avi to the format it could read (in other words, ages). Has this changed? Was I doing it wrong?

        • You probably had an old PC.

        • get more CPU cores. Handbrake is the only converter I've run across that correctly uses multiple cores. I use it on my linux HTPC to convert TV shows and mkv torrents for my ipod to watch on the train. With 4 cores in the HTPC handbrake uses 90% of all 4 of them and drops back if something else needs some cpu. With 4 cores it takes slightly over 1/4 of the time to convert compared to a single core.

  • We paid $1.99 for the VLC one for iPad… figured we owed them a bit anyway for all the free stuff they give out LOL so it wasn't the end of the world but Hubby was estatic with what it could do :)

    • Does this mean you can watch .avi files on iPad with VLC?

      • It streams via WiFi or converts all files to iPad so yep! Absolutely brilliant for anyone who has a bunch of movies in other formats that they would like to watch on their iPad but don't want to pay the exhorbitant iTunes prices for movies. If you want to convert then you can also play the files via Apple TV etc. Conversion does take time & makes the original file larger but you end up with a .m4v file compatible with any MAC device :)
