    $5 from the warehouse

  • Hmm I saw these on a late night infomercial (don't ask), and as I've got a 6 month old puppy I need to keep the door open with the security screen open too to let him in and out. Getting a doggy door put in soon but not sure how much he'll use it, and then it's a pain for me to open and close it (it's got 3 locks on it haha).

So long story short, any one have any experience how these are? Or are they like most things, over promise and under deliver?

i have one for my dogs. a few things you need to know. they come with thumb tacks and velcro to stick the screen to the frame of your door. the velcro is useless. i have a wooden frame so i used the thumb tacks. you could use nails/glue/double sided tape to make it stronger. the other problem is you should keep it a couple centremetres off the ground so it cant be stood on. the dog got stuck and tore the netting a couple times when it was new because the stitching is really bad so i highly reccomend reinforcing the stitching - i did and have had no problems since. the magnets work really well and it is a good concept which im usually extremly skeptical of any of the junk product infomercials on tv. my dogs at first were not sure about walking through it as it looks solid but they got the hang of it maybe if you have a little shy dog just becareful to introduce gently dont open it right up and whack your dog in the face and scare it.

  • hi,the price includes free shipping australia wide. actually, we sell at cost for promotion.

  • does it actually stop cockroach? Does it work with Balcony door?

    • From the photos it doesn't seem to be cockroach proof

    • they stop beetles and flies, the net will stop cockroaches the same as a window screen but they might get under it or around it if you dont fully seal it and if you have roaches they can get in any gaps in your walls etc so you really should get a proffesional to spray your place properly and get rid of them. there is no point trying to do that on the cheap you end up wasting a lot of money and the roaches build up immunities if you let them. if its just the big roaches that come in on the odd occasion then you can spray your doorway with peppermint oil to deter them and put some glue traps down.

If you can fix this one to your door frame securely, they might work. They do come with some double sided tape that lasts a few days before it starts falling off.

    • true plus there is only minimal surface contact as these are small. better getting a good strong double sided tape (i.e not the foam type) or glue, if possible use the thumb tacks provided or get nails.

you can measure your balcony door to check if suitable, thanks!

    • the photos of the product show 2 different screens. Which one are you selling?

  • Not a freebie, also these things are pretty bad on windy days.

    • i havent had a problem with wind because mine is secure tightly with the thumb tacks and i get some seriously bad wind here.

  • actually, just the pattern is a little different, one is with strip another is without. our supplier dispatch randomly. but the effect and the quality are the same.

Good product idea - was around $ 6.00 at bargain places Crazy Clark's & Sam's Warehouse stores several months ago

the HIDEOUS 'lace finish' top border of all these ( similar ) products are offputting :(

  • question to costdeal ! is that "lace" strip " woven in"

or seperate just to hide the velcro strip

question would it be possible to hang this without having the 'lace effect ' visible

    • +1

the lace is not woven in and it can still be hung without the lace effect visible, thanks!

  • C.R.A.P.!
Bought 3 pairs a while back now from Scam Of The Day…
Very light weight material that will fall apart or tear easily, and some of the magnets don't actually line up!!!
Great concept, but I think i'll try make my own now!!!

    • magnets didnt line up but it did explain why in the instructions i cant remember why but when i installed it they lined up perfectly

  • I just saw it on my neighbour's door and like it. It's so great that now I know where to buy. Great deal, +++

  • This thing is just CRAP, the most stupid thing I've ever bought. Apart from the fact that it looks really ugly, the magnets do not line up which defeat the whole purpose. Also the tape does not stick. I put it up, without even walk through it, the whole thing fell within an hour. With the wind it will probably last 5 minutes.

    • +1

but it uses MAGIC to close!!

    • many things look alike but qualities are quite different, did you buy the CRAP from us? if so, we will provide full refund

      • I dare you to say that again!

        Thank you!

  • Sorry to post comments like this as I know you're trying to run a business. But as a consumer I feel like I should speak up because I know quite a few people bought this from various places. The feedback from everyone is that it DOES NOT work. I bought 3, used 1. I intend to give these to families at Xmas but decided against it because it is just plain too silly a product. Even if the magnets line up correctly, I can't see how it can lasts past a day.

      Thats your opinion.

I have one like this and its absolutely great. Instead of mossies in my bedroom every night I can sleep peacefully.

So in some circumstances they work fine.

And its been up for 5 months.

There is a knack to assembling the magnets, and many cheap versions do not give good instructions. Also fixing it to the door frame with velcro isnt that successful. A firmer fitting is required.

      • You say "A firmer fitting is required."
Agreed… But if this is the case, shouldn't they come with better fittings and not the cheap crappy double sided tape and tack pins that they supply?

        Title should read:
Costdeal - Magnetic Fly Screen Door Just $11.9+Free Shipping! +Extra money and time going to (insert fav hardware store here) for quality fittings to keep it in place for longer than a couple of weeks!!!

In our experience, with correct installation, the magnets click the door closed.
We have young kids though and they and their friends can be rough with it some times. We also take care with our broken laundry basket handles to make sure they don't get caught on the weave.
We are onto our second iteration (from Scoopon) after the first one (from Cudo) was ripped by a visitor. We prefer the Cudo sourced one because it seemed to hang correctly more easily. The Scoopon one has taken a bit of adjusting to get to hang correctly.
The Cudo one had magnets in the shape of a bird. The Scoopon one had a rectangular magnet shape. We found that some of the birds came off after a while.
We've used tacks to hang them and that keeps it in place.
Keeps the mossies out and allows circulation.

  • REP - can you tell us a little more about the quality?

will these ones have the issues that people have spoken of here? im pretty keen to get something like this as we dont have a screen on our back door… but only if its going to actually work… in all your posts above you havent really said if yours is better quality and garanteed it…

  • Anyone want to buy this off me? PM me if you're interested, I will give it to you for $5, pick up at Sydney Wynyard train station. Honestly I bought it from Scoopon (for $15) but absolutely hated it.

  • Yep $5.00 from Sams ..I have the box here next to me ..same photos on the box ..with the "As seen on TV "
cost of shipping a 2 minute drive down the road…

  • Why reinvent the wheel

  • We have had one COTD for about 12 months now and it has been great as a stop gap dog door. Windy days are a prob and tecacious insects still get in but overall very happy with what we got. We ditched the dodgy tape and got some 3M VHB tape from Bunnings
    Still works a treat.
