+3 votesAs an owner of two orders these brollies, I can vouch for the fact that in mid-heavy rain, they do leak through.
It's a double canopy design and the water seems to come through between the two canopies as well as where the shaft joins the canopy.
In saying that, I've walked around with one of these things in light and medium showers and it's kept me absolutely dry.
Considering each umbrella costs under $7, we're getting what we pay for. It's not a waterproof umbrella but it was never going to be at this price.

In all seriousness, most umbrellas aren't rated as waterproof. The 'waterproof' term guarantees no water will seep through under even the heaviest of downpours. That's not to say that most umbrellas won't protect you from rain… it's juat a matter of to what degree it will.
EDIT: There was a discussion on the 'waterproof' nature of umbrellas a few years back when this deal was running… can't find the thread which explained it all.
Also noticed that the OO.com.au page for this deal states 'waterproof design'… I wonder if they've revised their design?

You are going to get a bit wet with any type of umbrella - whether it cost you $7 or $700. Water is going to splash up off the ground, blow in from the sides etc. The little bit of leakage allegedly suffered with these umbrellas during heavy rain, is the least of your worries if you are in fact in heavy rain. If you want to stay completely dry when it's raining stay indoors.

+1 voteI bought this 3-pack probably about a year ago, or a couple of sales ago.
I've had no problems at all with them - in heavy rain they work perfectly and they're the only umbrellas I've had which don't turn inside out or get damaged in heavy winds. No problems with the double canopy at all, and I think it's what keeps the umbrella from flipping in the rain.
They're massive - which can be a problem when walking on crowded streets with trees, etc. But they'll certainly keep the rain off.
Very impressed with them. So are my family who have appropriated a couple of them.

I bought them the last time they were on sale. I thought I was happy with them when the package arrived, but a couple of the arms snapped like twigs when I first used them. Although it was a little windy, it was nothing that my other umbrellas couldn't handle. Doubt I'd be buying them again :<

bargdebarg on 08/12/2012 - 13:20 ¶Do you think anyone actually uses these during golf to shield themselves from the sun??

+2 votesI think some people might think they leak because of how they use them. I have three and never found them to leak. A friend borrowed one and said he got a few drops on him. Turns out he went out in the rain and whenever he was under a building and sheltered he would close the brolly and hold it with the top pointing at the ground.
The water was running off the umbrella when in the up position but closing and holding it upside down meant water on the brolly went down between the two layers and ended up underneath the canopy when he then put it back to the up position.
Others who have borrowed the umbrella did the same thing yet didn't get water inside it so that one friend is obviously special…

ashley1969 on 08/12/2012 - 19:42 ¶I like the ones from Officeworks. They same type of double canopy design, and they push button and auto up too.
Love them.

+1 voteDeal may be over but when mine arrived, just a few days after ordering, I found one with a flaw in the material that could have easily turned into a hole.
I took pix of it and emailed oo.com.au (Matthew I think it was got back) asking if there was anything within reason they could do about it. Matt explained everything they sell is covered by warranty and he would get on it. A week later, no hassles - unlike here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/87641#comment-1166071, I receive my new set of umbrellas.
Definitely a company I'll keep on my radar.
