Pentax K-01 Camera: $299.95 (Body) or $399.95 (Body + 18-55mm Lens)

FREESHIP

Looks like these cameras are getting phased out (much like the recent Pentax Q deal from teds). If you already have some pentax k mount lenses lying about this may appeal to you as a secondary camera. Price seems very good compared to other local sellers with manufacturer's warranty. E.g. body still costs $699 from http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/category1213_1.htm

NOTE: Apply coupon code "FREESHIP" to get free shipping.

Enjoy!

  • Another couple of reviews:

Had me set to replace my DSLR until I read the reviews. Still seems like a lot of camera for the $$

  • Very good looking camera - from the front.

Its very bulky, and the back has so much redundant space. They are trying to go for the retro look, but sometimes retro can look ugly af.

Its supposed to be a compact system, if you hold this in person, unless you have giant hands, it isnt quite compact, and as soon as you attach a lens, thats another story.

    Good Price though.

    • Agree, the main function button is so far away, you have to strecth your thumb to dial it - awful & painful.
However the darring yellow body is very sexy

with the similar "bulkyness" and price range go for Canon G15 ($415 ebay)

  • great deal if you already have a selection of k mount lenses.

and if you don't already own a removable lens camera, then remember that when head down that path the lenses that go with them don't swap across brands. Thus you are locking yourself into a particular brand. (My advice would be to ignore any brands other than the big two: Canon or Nikon…. do your research and you'll learn this is true.

good deal! but will be better if come with the 40mm pancake lens!

It is a REASONABLY good camera.
If you are with Pentax (having already a few K mount lenses) I would highly recommend one.
When I saw the price I almost had a heart attack, but then I realised that there is no deal for the one with a pancake lens. It actually makes it a bit worse as the pancake lens will cost you ~$300.
    $600 with local warranty vs $479 (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/85623) from bhphoto.com.

    • if only… there is an option for a pancake lens for $100 extra.. i will grab one in a heart beat :)
