expired Seagate Expansion 2TB $79 @ OW (3.5", AC, USB 3)
This was posted 4 months 21 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
I'm surprised with the $99 listing on the website as in store they are $79.
This product has been posted a few times of late;

so perhaps consider this an update.
Have a great year.

webbiegareth on 01/01/2013 - 19:04 ¶Not 100% sure… as I didn't actually "test" the drive.
Scroll down to "Tramperleo" 's post, I got the same drive as him (or her!) - ST2000DM001. The sticker/label on the drive said Barracuda, ST2000DM001, 7,200rpm.
Apparently one of these:

+1 voteI asked them to take the item to the register
you asked officeworks staff, while on the fone, to go out of there way and scan it at a register? and you expect that they actually got off there asses and walked all the way up there with one for someone on the fone?
HAHAHAHAHA
(i actually worked at OW for a couple days once years ago….)

Do they open today?
It was $79 in last few days to match JB HIFI price. Now it is $99 because JB HIFI also set their price back to $99. http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/computers-laptops/computer-ac... some OW stores may still have the $79 price tag.
+1 votenicksnoobie on 01/01/2013 - 16:42 ¶I pricematched OW on 27th with JB. About $75 I paid for.
edited: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers/storage/seagate/expansion...
that was on special before new year for $79.
+1 votesnafuagain on 01/01/2013 - 17:30 ¶Got one for $79.20 from Officeworks Joondalup, was shelf price, on 29th Dec. They had reduced from $99 to meet the then JB HiFi sale price (20% off Seagate drives).
Mine had a Barracuda Green inside, so NOT 7200rpm but 5900rpm.
nicksnoobie on 02/01/2013 - 14:37 ¶So they reduced it so people can't price match them.
Lucky I bought mine before that

Back to $99 at JB now

Disassemble it. Got Hard disk ST2000DM001. It should be a 7200RPM hard disk according to Seagate website. Checked hard disk warranty also on their website, around 3 years, valid to 26/01/2016. So it still worth it at 99.00.

You just check it online - if it says it has warranty there, then you are good to go.
Note that Seagate RMA (returns) are to Botany in Sydney, so they are significantly cheaper to return than WD Drives that have to be posted back to Singapore or whatever. Remember - the HDD must be packed in a massive package, so overseas returns are very expensive ($30 or more)

Used this deal to buy it at BigW price matched at $79.20… thought this was the usual price…
EDIT: printed out the OW website yesterday and took it into BigW. Price matched no fuss. Went and looked tonight and seems as though it has gone up in price to $99 online where it was $79.20 on 31/12/12…
Pleasure_Paulie on 02/01/2013 - 11:19 ¶Anybody know if the power management on these is as good as Wd drives. Eg. Turns off when not being uses, goes into sleep state etc when not being used.

FYI - It's not a huge amount of effort to open these up and to rip out the drive inside (it's a Barracuda 7200rpm SATA drive). I installed one of these into my dad's computer - it's cheaper than going going to MSY to buy a bare drive!
(I'm sure the warranty is destroyed but oh well!)
